Good Morning Tuesday 16th January 2024

Good morning from (I guess) a sub-zero Bristol. The frost is thick on cars.
I took part in a “levelling-up” survey yesterday and am having their surveyor coming today to look at and value my flat!
In the afternoon, I went to a WI meeting; the talk was on financial scams given by a policewoman. The ingenuity of the scammers and the gullibility of the scammed is incredible. She strongly recommends “take 5, talk 2” i.e. take a few minutes to think about the call/email/text, speak to at least 2 people (and listen to them) before doing anything.
I also chatted to the federation chairman who is short of trustees. I was one in Kent, but am not yet (if ever) to become one again, but offered my help at any time she might need it.
Today, I’ve got an IKEA man to assemble two of the items I have bought. I must ask my painter/handyman if he’ll do the other two for me. It’ll be nice not to have boxes everywhere and finally unpack my spare room.

Good morning from West Wales.

We had a lovely drive down yesterday.The roads were quiet, the weather was good and the views beautiful as always.An emotional time when we arrived at MIL’s house.There is a lot to do, a lifetime of belongings to sort through.

We had a 10pm dash to Tesco when DH realised he had forgotten to pack pyjamas.

Today we will go for a walk at the beach and then some shopping ready for family arriving tomorrow.

My thoughts are with all who have sadness💐

Yesterday was a difficult day for the boys. Dgs1 had a headache still. His mum is going to take him to the doctor. Dgs2 was playing up a bit. Just being a toddler really. We walked to Aldi for milk but the wind was icy.
Today I hope for better things! Nursery drop off and pick up. Dgs2 and I will go for a walk I expect. Have a good day all

Good morning from the winter wonderland that is Sefton. Snowing at the moment which is a rare occurrence as Sefton is mostly coastal. We were due to travel into N Wales to meet friends for lunch but decided to cancel our lunch booking yesterday in view of the (correct) weather warning. So all plans cancelled - A day for hunkering down.
I woke at 4 feeling nauseous & with a migraine on the way. It has been triggered by the smell of something used during my hair appointment yesterday. Now I need to get up, wash my hair & change my pillow.

Yesterday we went to Westonbirt again with the dog, such a lovely walk in bright sunshine.
I did more of my drawing course, quite pleased with the result; I think I’m starting to understand the process a little better 😊
There’s a log delivery coming later today but nothing else planned. Our lovely dog walker will be here at 9.

Up early this morning, as I have to get two buses to Milton Keynes, where I am meeting a fellow Gransnetter - good morning RosiesMaw! Not looking forward to going out in this frost.... Feeling a bit stiff this morning, must be yesterday's yoga.
I need to look for a birthday 🎂 present for DD; I already have a couple of things, but. just need something extra. Will be seeing her tomorrow, and her birthday is on Friday.

Good morning from icy and dry s somerset

Yesterday was a very satisfying day, started with the usual bedchanging, bottoming (cleaning under furniture), washing, cooking, setting the stove etc and all that was done by 9.30.

I decided to make myself comfy for the paperwork process, hence folding table in front of a comfy chair and big cushion behind my back. It took me over four hours to get my financial affairs in order and to carefully write everything down in a lovely new hardback A5 book. Now I know exactly what is what and I also drew a chart, showing when the bills fall. No substitute for m/s money, which I used for years but it will do fine

Today I am doing passwords, transferring them all to the new book. All of it via writing with a lovely soft pencil, so I can rub out instead of doing crossings out.

I want to finish knitting my jumper and will start the sewing up process today

Good morning from Malta where it was raining when I got up but has now cleared and we expect a high of 18°C.

DD1 in Washington DC has thick snow which looks so pretty but not fun to have to go out in.

Went to buy paint for my bedroom yesterday and was shocked by how expensive it was! Oh well, it has to be done.

That’s so sad for you Susan, there can’t be many tasks as difficult as packing up the worldly possessions of a loved one.😞

I’m with the boys as usual today. They are both up, breakfasted, washed and dressed and now playing happily. They are my joy bless them.

Good morning from Cornwall where it's cold but not unbearably so. Wish I could help with your flat-pack furniture grandMattie as I love constructing it! All those screws and instructions! Bliss! My friend came yesterday and between us we moved my sawn-up sofa. Afterwards we sat and I showed her how to make origami lilies. See pic. She brought me yellow tulips and granola bars, a real treat.

Today I'm at my prayer friend's as usual, then will walk through town and have my weekly free coffee at our quirky department store overlooking the water.

Pea and ham soup in the slow cooker and a crusty loaf 🍞 in the bread maker will be the sum of my culinary goddessing for the day 😇

Morning all from a frozen West Oxfordshire. I will stay in bed for a while. I was still awake at 2 am. No idea why I couldn’t sleep.
I have a fair bit of admin to do eventually, including a presentation on The Woman Taken in Adultery.
I also have a cake to ice and decorate to take to WI tomorrow. I am out most of the day tomorrow so I’m doing it today. One of our members is 90 and I was asked to make a cake. Well, I’ve made two nine inch sponge squares and today I’ll hopefully transform them. I might do some feathering, which I haven’t done for a while. I have one of those cake candles which is also a firework.

Morning all, my phone is telling me it’s -3 outside no snow but a heavy frost.

Bed changing first thing, then down the road for a manicure and pedicure. This afternoon it’s school and pre-school pick up and straight to swimming lessons. I need to find time to prepare a cottage pie also.

Early grocery delivery before heading out a hair cut, guess I’ll be car scraping, then it’s back home for dust removal. Must remember to look at an ISA that’s maturing soon, it’s been sliding off the list. May tie a knot in a hankie! Anyone else remember being told to do that to aid memory or was it unique to my family?

Good morning from a below freezing Colchester. I can't see much frost which is surprising.
Not warming up at all today but staying dry with some sun.
Tuesday is charity shop volunteering day so I'll stay warm. We have a uniform fleece that stays firmly zipped up all day.

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a very cold South Yorkshire the temperature is minus one but there is no frost to speak of. Snow is forecast for later. The CH is struggling today. I am supposed to go to school later for my volunteering stint, and I if it snows I could walk there, but not sure I want to! I’ll see what transpires and make a judgement call.
Down to my icy kitchen (no radiator in there!) to make my coffee.

Good morning from a very cold Durham, with a forecast for snow later.
Coffee with a friend this morning, then more decluttering/cleaning at home. I managed to get the contents of two messy filing cabinets into one organised cabinet yesterday - it was very satisfying (I think I need to get out more!).
I’m getting Little Dog from DD2 later for a sleepover - he has a grooming appointment this morning, so I may have to buy him a coat.
Thinking of our GNs who are struggling for whatever reason.

Good morning all. It's reportedly -3° out there on the Angus coast, but feeling like -9°. Yesterday's "feels like -8°" was quite cold enough thank you! It's still pitch dark out, but I'm sure there's no more snow - although it's forecast today.
Yesterday's tai chi committee meeting achieved very little, but it was nice to see everyone again. One instructor reported 26 new beginners at her new beginners' class which was a very encouraging sign that we are returning to pre-Covid norms.
Today is one of my own tai chi classes, but I wonder how many will feel brave enough to face the icy blast! After that I have an optician's appointment, which I'm trying not to think about - I'm aware my sight has deteriorated since last year. Following that is my fruit and veg shop (via the fish shop of course 😉) at the aptly-named Nature's Garden. Oh, and a quick dash across to the Butcher's who sells the locally made shortbread that I love. Then I think that's quite enough for one day and I shall go home and keep cosy in front of the TV with my eyes no doubt closed.
Susan that's a daunting task. This is the year that I have promised myself will be the one that sees me cleared out as much as possible and 'ready to go' ......
Now off I pop to get today underway. I think I shall go out to the car armed with a jug of warm water to help me break into it!

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Minus 3 but no snow yet.
I may bus into Edinburgh for some last minute essentials for NZ. shorts? sandals maybe there'll be something in the sales. A timely reminder Susan to pack a nightie. It will be an emotional time for you but so important.

I forced myself to go on the U3A walk yesterday with the aid of antiinflammatories, and enjoyed it. Blue sky and not too long.

First and last for a while Gaelic class tonight. I plan to book another holiday course this Summer. I enjoyed last year in Skye such a lot.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where it’s-1* with a little snow.

Our local Facebook page is already full of complaints about some roads not having been gritted.

I’m going to visit my old charity shop today, I miss working there but I know my decision to leave was the sensible thing to do. I’ll go for coffee with one of the volunteers, we worked well together and she always put her name on the rota for the days I was in.
