Just that.

Who peels/skins them?

Serendipity22 Thu 18-Jan-24 21:41:54

Yep.... looks like another thread on peeling a mushroom.... guilty ....👐.
Considering I didn't know it had been asked before its a case of don't like it? Don't reply ☺ 😊 🙂 😀

Which leaves me to say thank you to all replies 😃

I use a damp flannel.

True: GC may fork all mushrooms they wish out of any dish.

Wasn’t this asked recently?

Ziplok Thu 18-Jan-24 21:51:18

I ask, because I’m sure I replied to the same question, but perhaps it wasn’t on GN.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 18-Jan-24 21:59:51

It was. And very recently

Serendipity22 Thu 18-Jan-24 22:03:12

Thank you.....

Ive no idea if it was asked before haaaa.

The reason for putting it out there was because my husband always insists on peeling flippin mushrooms whereas i swill under tap, job done and it all lead me to think what a ** waste of time! Surely no one does that?

Hence the question.

Cucumbers and gin go well together.
Pour a generous measure of gin into a glass, add sone tonic, a couple of ice cubes then a slice or two of cucumber. .
Throw the rest away.

I assumed a small amount of the dark soil would help build a good immune system. I wipe with kitchen towel but if OH isn’t watching, not because I am lazy, just believe a bit of dirt does you good.

Callistemon 😁

I posted it on a thread someone started asking what to do with a glut of cucumbers grin

It took me ages to make but, honestly, cucumber soup is foul!

Reminds me of a boozy friend’s Irish Coffee, back in the day. Double serve of whisky, hold the coffee and cream. Said with a straight face and a slightly slurred voice.

PinkCosmos Fri 19-Jan-24 12:02:27

I don't peel mushrooms but I have started cutting off the end of the stalk. I have no idea why grin

NotSpaghetti Fri 19-Jan-24 12:22:30

BlueBelle

Haha yep that’s a good one Rosie or maybe an electric toothbrush

I have an electric toothbrush (see gift thread) available - once the left over chocolate people have finished with it...
grin

the skins are fullof essentialvitamins and minerals.. why waste them?

eazybee Fri 19-Jan-24 13:24:07

I do, because I like doing it.
Life's too short to stuff a mushroom, not peel it.

Serendipity22 Fri 19-Jan-24 13:34:12

Thank you for your replies.... it just baffled me enough to ask everyone if they did or didn't.

Thank you 😊

Cooking them will kill all germs anyway. Also, they tell you not to wash chicken and turkey before cooking as it spreads round more germs when you wash them under the tap. If my mushrooms have dirt on them I just wipe them with a paper kitchen towel.

I realize I'm about to post something most will find daft. Vegans expect to eat B12 in mushrooms, a good non-meat source for a vital nutrient - it's in dirt. Healthy dirt grin

We as a family eat many mushrooms.

Much to the disgust of one granddaughter. So, she is allowed to pick them out, give them to the pets, do whatever is her choice.

Jaxjacky Fri 19-Jan-24 16:46:08

Never wash or wipe them, used as they come, dirt and all.

Serendipity22 Fri 19-Jan-24 17:49:42

I'm glad I'm not on my own in just cracking on with it.

Happy weekend everyone 😊

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 19-Jan-24 17:50:51

My husband doesn’t like mushroom stalks 🙄 so I have them all plus caps. I have no problem with a bit of dirt. If the recipe calls for sliced mushrooms I don’t remove the stalks, he hasn’t complained yet and what the eye doesn’t see …

Floradora9 Fri 19-Jan-24 21:21:55

I peel mine it feels safer in case of what might be on the outside .
