Good morning from frosty, sunny West Sussex.

I’m not looking forward to the wind and rain that is forecast, even though I’ve hardly been out in this cold. We went out yesterday, to take household scraps to the allotment compost bin and DH did a bit of shovelling compost from one of the heaps but I mainly walked around the site, admiring the (few) immaculate plots just waiting for a breath of spring to be ready for sowing and planting. Our half-plot has only a small area of cultivable earth as we have mainly fruit trees and bushes. A robin was hopping around waiting for DH to finish his shovelling so that he/she could get at the worms.

Sorry to hear of your friend’s worsening condition Kittylester, and of your lovely sounding friend and neighbour’s death, BlueSapphire.

Hope the foot heals quickly luluaugust.

Hope, also, that the various poorly GCs are soon recovered. My DGS in Scotland has the ‘100 day cough’. He is very fed up with it.

I have marmalade to make but hope to get out to enjoy the last of the sunshine (for a while).

NannyJan DH says he has fished there it was the favourite venue of one of his club members.

Good morning Mick and all from cloudy Lancashire, currently 4°C and raining. It had snowed overnight but it’s melted now.

Yesterday I got on with some laundry, did my physio exercises and am pleased to note that my stair climbing technique is much improved. A useful skill when you live in a 3 storey house! No real plans for today, as it’s not freezing I may finally get out for a walk if the path isn’t icy.

My fingers have been tingling and itching all week, chilblains are a better frost predictor than the Met Office! They used to cause me such misery. Thanks to a tip from lovely Baggs I am able to keep them under control with regular applications of Snow Fire. It comes in a handy stick, no messy cream and easy to apply.

Hope your skin settles down Corner, these things are a real pain to deal with.

Good morning from a beautiful and frosty East Midlands.

Good morning Mick and all from 5°C Sunnyside northwest coast.
Enjoyed a nice meal in the city with old friend in a restaurant new to us, followed by a symphony concert, Beethoven 5th, Egmont Overture and Strauss Don Quixote. Loved the Beethoven, but not the Strauss. On row C, it was thrilling. I always choose to sit right at the front. Don’t go to performances if it means sitting at the back.
. It’s my friend’s birthday next month, so I will buy his ticket for the next concert, present sorted. After not feeling like the outing, it was a lovely evening.

Missed art group this morning as I had wicked cramp through the night, but will get to a lunchtime organ recital.

So sorry to hear your sad news BlueSapphire and thoughts to Baggs and all with troubles 💐

She was a great support to me during lockdown, ringing to check up on me frequently as she knew how down I felt.
We shall miss her cheerful and friendly presence - and also her delicious coffee cakes for which she was renowned.

Shall spend today quietly at home, catching up on a few jobs and reading.

Good morning from Glasgow. We have a mix of grey/blue sky, rain and icy underfoot weather today. It also feels milder.

We had a lovely afternoon with DD1 and the girls to make DH’s day special. Thank you for the kind birthday wishes from both of us.
I hope your roads are clear Baubles, still no sign of gritters here but DD and the girls spread some grit on patio areas in the garden to ensure Granny didn’t break any more bones as DD said, that’s the last thing we need!

Good morning, Alexa has just told me it’s -5, so another day of not going out and nursing my head cold, it’s being a real pain even with the ibuprofen and joy of joys MrOops has got it again as well.
So restaurant cancelled for this evening but a good book to finish off and I expect there will E a film onTV to watch along with a new box of tissues.
At least the sun is shining.

Good morning fro Giffnock where I stayed over last night after going to the opening concert of the Celtic Connection season. That and a meal out before it, was my Christmas present from DD and itwas a thoroughly good evening. An American singer and mandolin player who interacted wonderfully with the RSNO who were also amazing, at one magical point dancing as they played!

Off home soon by train which allows me a wee browse in Glasgow en route. I rarely go into town now so that will be good.

Good morning everyone from a very bright and frosty Northampton.

Yesterday was completely overshadowed by the death of my next door but one neighbour, who I have known for 40 years, and we have been neighbours for over 30 of those.I
She had been suffering from cancer for several years, it having been kept under control till last year, since when she had been slowly deteriorating.
An ambulance was called yesterday morning, but sadly she died peacefully at home with her DH beside her. He said it was a blessed release, as she had had no quality of life for a few months. His close family (son and sister) arrived in the afternoon. There is an air of sadness over our little close.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It was so cold last night I let the cats sleep on my bed. They’re still there and so am I.
I had a brilliant although exhausting day in London yesterday. The Women in Revolt: Art and Activism in the UK 1970-1990 event at Tate Britain was excellent. A very good lecture, tasty lunch with wine and finally the exhibition itself which is well worth a visit. I then popped down to Kew and had dinner with elder son and his family. OH picked me up from the railway station I n Oxford and drive me to where Id parked my car. Phew. My new non-memory mattress is being delivered this afternoon. In the meantime housework beckons.

Good morning everyone from a dry cold south Manchester. The sun is shining, the sky is blue but Alexa tells me it’s -2°C. Brr!

Much activity here already this morning. We have had a team of decorators in this week and for the foreseeable, doing a much needed painting up of walls, doors and skirting boards in all the communal corridors. It looks so much smarter again already! It was looking pretty shabby and we convened a meeting in late autumn with the management team and 2 representatives from Trafford Council and our steering group of residents walked them round the building to highlight the situation.

We pay very high fees to live here - the annual ground rent alone costs each apartment £500! Money for old rope - and the development needed a huge amount of TLC. New industrial carpeting and huge coir mats at the 2 entrance doors next month, not before time. We used to have 24/7 security because its town centre living here, but to cut expenses that got taken off us years ago (although that wasn’t reflected in the quarterly fees no siree they’re not daft these management companies it’s all about profit), but we’ve demanded the installation of CCTV cameras. Finally it’s looking smart again which is why we chose living here 14 years ago when it was a new build!

Good morning Mick and everyone from frosty Carlisle. I don't believe my phone either which says it is 2°C. It is due to get warmer later, if that's the right word. Most of my drive is still icy so I hope it does.
Just a bit of pootling around at various little jobs today one of which will be moving the new hi-fi over to join the new tv set up. Apart from that, there's a variety of interesting pastimes I could indulge in. There's no need to be bored but I would really like to be able to get outside in the garden or go for a walk.

I hope all goes well with teeth and feet, sounds painful....

I am off to London to have lunch with a former neighbour from our days “south of the river” over 30 years ago. She got in touch with me when a mutual friend died last year and we thought it was about time we made the usual Christmas card platitudes (“must meet up some time” ) a reality.
I’m looking forward to it - hope we don’t disappoint each other- from “young mum” to old lady is a bit of a jump.
With kind thought to all of you in pain or distress, weary or worried, I hope today brings you some relief and peace.

Morning from -6 and a heavy frost in S Hants, I’ll be glad when the cold has gone, we’re forecast 12 on Sunday, bizarre.
A quiet day yesterday with a walk and some housework then we collected a parcel for my daughter, a present for our grandson next week.
Today is my first Tai Chi class, I hope the hall is warm, Tesco delivery later and pub tonight.

Another frosty start but it’s already sunny and the temperature is predicted to rise later. Oldies’ coffee morning and a visit later from a very capable young electrician to look at a double socket in the utility room which seems to have died. Am looking forward to being a bit warmer - I never used to feel the cold like I do now, another penalty of age I suppose.

The night sky has been so clear recently Harri - I’ve stood outside a few times and just marvelled! The planet nearest the moon at the moment is Jupiter.

Good morning from the frostiest morning so far in Suffolk. Hoping for sun and blue skies soon.

I had a great day in London yesterday with the trains being more or less on time. On the local train from Ipswich the ticket machine wasn’t working so no tickets could be sold and those of us who had tickets weren’t checked!

The exhibition ‘From Burma to Myanmar’ was small but full of really beautiful things such as the most exquisite carved ivory chair,wonderful textiles and wood carvings.

A quiet day at home but looking forward to a walk with DH and little dog soon and a pleasure to walk on frozen ground rather than soggy paths and fields.

The Ebay Queen has just messaged to say her husband had a fall this morning. The wet drive was actually a sheet of ice and she was warning me to be careful.

As for getting up at 4am, GM, I was just falling asleep!

Corner, I always have a flushed face after having a steroid injection. It looks as if I am permanently blushing. I hope it subsides soon.

Bellasnana we watched a really interesting programme last night all about Malta, it’s made us want to revisit, hopefully this year.
luluaugust I hope your foot heels soon, at least with a boot you can remove it to sleep and shower.

I am off to the gym first thing, then I have one more toy hamper to sort out in playroom. The Imps pre-school were pleased with a large donation of toys, we are now waiting for him to notice them there 🤣

DH and I are off to a local restaurant which serves excellent tapas this evening, no cooking for me yippee.

Good morning all and it’s very frosty here by the sea. There’s a great big ball of sun emerging on the horizon .

Yesterday we had afternoon tea with next door neighbour - we thought she might have something to tell us as we never get an invite, but no, it was just a nice chatty couple of hours.

I scraped the ice off the car and headed out in the evening to book club. Only two of us turned up due to illness and holidays.
I hadn’t read much of the book so not much discussion 😊, but we spent a jolly hour with a hot drink by the log fire in a very nice old pub.

Today we head back to Essex. It’s been a restful few days and the sun has shone most of the time. Nice to have a change of scene. I have a busy week ahead so I’ve enjoyed the break with no calls on my time.

Good morning from frosty North Yorkshire. Another beautiful sunrise.
All the cars are very frosty . I’m glad mine is cosy in the garage as I have an early start (for me) to a board meeting.
Shopping and a visit to the bathroom centre will fill my day. I have the plans for the shower room refurb but I want to have a good look round at all the fittings. I’m particularly curious about loo seats and shower screens that unclip to make cleaning easier.
Sorry to hear about your foot lulu and your dental visit mizuna.
