Good Morning Friday 19th January 2024

Good morning from a cold, dry Bristol. I understand that it’s the last sub-zero night for some time.
Our tai chi class was given a good workout yesterday; the evening at DD’s went well although Iris was not in a good mood and, boy, did she make everyone pay!
Today, Spanish this morning and whatever I can do, sewing/marmalade, in the afternoon depending on where the painter works. He’s still got the living room and kitchen to do.

Good morning, cold, sunny and crisp in s somerset today

I have to drive for a dental appointment later today, it is an hour away, late enough for the frozen roads to have hopefully thawed. I try to avoid appointments during january and february because it can get very slippery around here. I slipped several years ago and believe me it happens very fast,luckily it was onto my backside and I landed on snow.

I have a kettlebell and will continue with some squats when I get back home. I want to stay strong and at least part-ready to tackle `the hill` on my bike as soon as the weather changes. I miss cycling in winter but the roads are grim and air too cold

Yesterday’s sunshine encouraged me to walk over the Downs where the views made it worthwhile. I was well wrapped up but the wind was pernicious at times. Similar weather today before the rain arrives tomorrow.

Good morning from Durham. It’s still very cold, but to be replaced by wind and rain next week.
More sorting and shredding first, a walk with Little Dog, then a nail appointment later with DD2, so I’ll drop off her laundry and Little Dog on the way there.
DGS1 lost his first tooth last night - 2 at the same time, so the tooth fairy was paying him a visit. He couldn’t wait to go to bed!
Hoping to hear that some of our poorly GNs are feeling a little better.

Good morning all this is my second post from the east coast of Fife wheres there’s a severe weather warning and the temp is meant to be -9 but I’m safe in my wee cottage where I’m nice and warm in my cosy bed. That’s a lovely photo Ashcombe here’s one of me in Canada in happier times pre stroke.

Morning Mick, morning All. It seems it’s -2 outside and our corner of Somerset will be a little less cold today.

Breakfast out yesterday was excellent once we got there, the well gritted roads were fine, the roadworks were not! Our conservatory issue was assessed by the person who built it. He spotted the issue quickly and assured us it was fixed, hope,so.

Having spent the day with an increasingly bright red face, I’m hoping it’s the flushing effect of the steroid injection and not a recurrence of a difficult to manage skin condition which plagued me for years. Suspect it is the latter as it’s very sore. I’m disappointed as it’s been missing for a long while, minor in its way it does upset me. Umpteen tests and consultants decided not rosacea but an allergy to most things chemical also stress related. I’ll do my best to settle it.

Volunteering this morning which is always fun, see how the afternoon goes, we may head off for a walk.

Good morning from Malta where it is due to reach 19°C today.

I also get up at 4am every day but I’m in bed by 9pm so manage to keep going.

Friday again, how the weeks fly by. Both boys are up, fed and dressed. I’m obviously biased but they both have such sweet personalities which makes caring for them very easy indeed.

Apart from my weekly hair appointment there’s nothing exciting on the agenda but that’s ok.

Good morning from a very frosty and icy Black Country.

A lovely walk yesterday along the canal, which too was very icy and frosty. Brilliant blue skies though as the photo's show. Coffee in a cafe at the end.

Gym this morning, then a bit of housework this afternoon.

It seems a GN meet up in Birmingham is being discussed. Hope some of the local grans can make it when a date is decided.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from chilly South Yorkshire. Minus one and a hard frost. I had a lovely walk around the park yesterday morning and the views across the moors were lovely. Last week when I went you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face. I had lunch with DD and GS who had just come back from an exam at school. I called in on my niece on the way home and was very surprised when her little GD climbed up and settled in my lap! She usually avoids me like the plague. A late hairdressing appointment saw me having my supper at gone seven o’clock. Sorting paperwork this morning and volunteering at school this afternoon.

Good morning all from a cold North Leicestershire.

Today I am going to get my ears pierced! I have had it done before, about 40 years ago, but got a severe infection so abandoned the idea. DH bought me a voucher for my birthday.

My friend in hospital is on a Cpap machine to help her oxygen levels but is refusing to eat and drink. I am hoping to go to see her tomorrow.

Good morning from Sefton. Looks frostfree out there with a sunny day forecast. A zoom exercise class this morning followed by a zoom stretch class then off to meet friends for lunch in a canalside olde worlde pub.... yet another no cooking day. Will have managed 4 this week. 😃

Good morning from a bright, frosty Colchester. Minus 4 at present rising to 5 today. Last of the freezing days here as double figures are forecast for Sunday.
We need to venture out for bread and milk, so will take a short walk. Otherwise no plans. Hibernation suits me.

Good morning from a frosty NE, thermometer tells me it is 1 degree and is forecast to rise to a balmy 5 degrees.
I put the wheelie bin out at 10pm last night and the sky was amazing, perfect for stargazing.
Nothing planned for today so may do some cooking in preparation for tomorrow.

Good morning from Cornwall where it's going to be cold and sunny again. To the dentist this morning for the removal of a twisted wisdom tooth root, then home to keep champing on pieces of dressing until the bleeding stops! At least it's only a four-minute walk away, not an hour's drive!

Good morning from a -2 W Kent. I decided to go to the Minor Injuries Unit yesterday to have my foot checked out and unfortunately it has got a fracture on the outside edge that I knocked. I was presented with a large black boot to wear for the next 6 weeks. Obviously things have ground to a halt, I reckon it weighs more than I do.
Funny old life.

Good morning from a very frosty Essex coast. I do believe that it will start to warm up from tomorrow.
Today I need to pack for our weekend away for my youngest brother's 60th birthday.
Last night my 14 year old DGD was taken to hospital with a chest infection and breathing difficulties, she also suffers with asthma.
She had two nebulizers and a chest xray and sent me a message at 02.30 to say she was home. Hopefully I will hear soon as to how she is.

Good morning from a very frosty hillside in south Glos., I don’t intend to go outside until later.
An enjoyable afternoon yesterday at art group, lots of tea and chatting, not a lot of artwork 😊
The dog and I had a very slow walk yesterday late afternoon, she must have sniffed every blade of grass, she’s such a funny creature. Other times it’s like a route march, but I really enjoy getting out with her.
Today housework and laundry before catching up with my crocheting I think, nothing much planned.

Yesterday, like baubles, I wasn't across the door. I spent the day baking. Wholemeal bread, a Victoria sponge which didn't rise, scones, chocolate chip muffins and peanut butter cookies. My tins are full. I told dd who is coming round today to sample them. Dgs2 will probably have some too. Dgs1 was unwell yesterday with a sore throat. I think both boys have had a virus of some sort. So today I'll see DD then this afternoon I have a parcel to collect and I'll visit mum. Have a good day all

Good morning from a cold South Downs. -2c at the moment, but today the wind direction is changing and the temperature is rising to reach the giddy heights of 11c some time next week.

ashcombe is that the only palm in Torquay? It needs treasuring.

Yesterday I completely emptied one of the bookcases and sorted books for charity/friends etc. Made space for my new books and any I may buy this year.
Today I’m giving the sofa and chairs in the conservatory a complete once over.
I bought some squirrel food and filled a feeder, but the starlings pinched nearly all - cheeky devils they do have their own food. I will have to work out how to stop them.
Cutting back a bit on my food intake as I was the heaviest I’ve ever been after Christmas😮 lost 3lb so far.

We have had a mouse in the house, but it must very much regret nipping in as our terrier does the job he was bred for and alerts us immediately and spends hours rummaging around trying to catch it. In fact he bit through a wire trying to get behind the dishwasher but not before he had pulled the plug out😮 we have to watch him very carefully. Pleased to say though that the mouse seems to have packed his bags and gone for a quieter life in the garden!

Good morning from frosty North Yorkshire. Another beautiful sunrise.
All the cars are very frosty . I’m glad mine is cosy in the garage as I have an early start (for me) to a board meeting.
Shopping and a visit to the bathroom centre will fill my day. I have the plans for the shower room refurb but I want to have a good look round at all the fittings. I’m particularly curious about loo seats and shower screens that unclip to make cleaning easier.

Good morning all and it’s very frosty here by the sea. There’s a great big ball of sun emerging on the horizon .

Yesterday we had afternoon tea with next door neighbour - we thought she might have something to tell us as we never get an invite, but no, it was just a nice chatty couple of hours.

I scraped the ice off the car and headed out in the evening to book club. Only two of us turned up due to illness and holidays.
I hadn’t read much of the book so not much discussion 😊, but we spent a jolly hour with a hot drink by the log fire in a very nice old pub.

Today we head back to Essex. It’s been a restful few days and the sun has shone most of the time. Nice to have a change of scene. I have a busy week ahead so I’ve enjoyed the break with no calls on my time.
