Good Morning Saturday 20th January 2024

Good morning all from N Bucks where the sky is turning pinker by the minute. Still signs of frost on the grass but as everybody is finding, it’s less cold.
I had a very enjoyable 3 hour lunch in London yesterday with my friend from all those years ago. I can only think we lost touch because of her DH who is a fairly taciturn type meant that we gave up meeting as couples. Don’t know.
The third friend cancelled because she is exhausted after spending time with her family in Manchester where her brother died recently. Manchester grans will know who I mean - Tony Lloyd - one of the “good guys” I understand, whatever your political persuasion.
I came home to a lovely surprise on my doorstep from John Lewis (well actually from D1 to keep her “old mum” warm) - a Dreamland heated throw! With that around me I may never leave my sofa again.
I hope you are all keeping safe, keeping warm, and that a peaceful weekend brings relief and respite to all in pain or distress.

Good morning all from a windy and wet east coast of Fife here’s what I made yesterday

Good morning from a very frosty Suffolk where I think it was lighter earlier than on previous mornings.

Although I don’t often bake, unlike many of you good folk posting on here,we seem to have a glut of overripe bananas so I think I might make some banana bread….memories of baking in lockdown! I’ll put some choc chips in it as we are having lunch tomorrow with DS and family and the DGC will enjoy it.

DH making a second cup of tea so the day is just really beginning now. Hope it is a good one for all and those with distress in their lives at present find some comfort.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° and pouring rain. I don't love grey skies but I've had enough of winter! Unfortunately there's a storm brewing tomorrow. GrandMattie it sounds like you have been very busy with a hammer. It would be nice to spend time with your dd. Ash lovely trees. Marydoll don't overdo things!
Yesterday, as promised, DD arrived with dgs2. He was not a fan of peanut butter cookies so I'll have to rethink my repertoire. I had a very bad night with painful legs due to peripheral neuropathy. The worst yet. It made me feel quite down in the wee hours.
This morning I'm feeling more like myself. I'm meeting a friend and her daughter for breakfast at the local garden centre. No shopping, just browsing thereafter. I need to get food but can probably wait til tomorrow. Housework and washing is on the cards later. Omelette for dinner tonight. Have a good day all

Good morning all and we’re back in Essex after an eventful journey home. The windscreen wash was frozen so we had a smeared view with brilliant sunshine in our faces. Couldn’t see a thing. Had to keep stopping to pour water onto the window.

Managed to get it working about half way home and then a farm worker , machine cutting a hedge scattering twigs and branches at the cars passing by, resulted in a branch hitting our car and driving over the debris caused a puncture. 😡. We limped home and called the breakdown .

Just settled down for the evening and the T.v wasn’t working. DS1 came to our rescue and got it going again! A very stressful day but could have been a lot worse. 🙏.

Hopefully a gentle day reading and pottering.

Good morning from a bright W Kent. Thank you for the kind wishes yesterday regarding my broken foot. DDs phoned, telling me stories of colleagues who had done a full days work in their big black boot. I didn’t have the heart to point out they were 30 to 40 years younger. I know there are lots of worse things to have.
I love today’s Matt, do you think the King might buy the original and put it with the Turners!

Here am I in a blowy 🌬️💨 north Wales having slept in again 🫣 - yesterday was a total chasing-my-tail day after a lovely lie-in but I did catch up with all your doings last night.

Loving all the photos NannyJan and Ash - don’t even need to have sun, just shows we live in a lovely country don’t we!

Hope all went well with Baggs daughter transfer home ❤️ and everyone with health worries (Miss Marydoll, Urms et al) are feeling better soon.

January is nearly over and Ive done the hard weeks of horrible bills, broken boiler and booked hospital appointments for my dad and Mr PG - 🤞that all will be well!

A small tip when decluttering Bellasnana - take photographs of anything special before you throw out the tangible object. I did such - opened cards and took pics of the messages inside from my mum etc. before getting rid. It’s nice to revisit on my iPad occasionally. I’m so glad I did this before culling.

Good morning from a gloomy Sefton. Wet & breezy with yellow wind warning for today & amber for tomorrow. 5º rising to a balmy 8º. The dog will be pleased as our frosty & crunchy grass verges will be back to normal - soft under foot with interesting smells. Greyhounds can be very precious about what they will deign to walk on. No plans for today apart from a supermarket shop & a visit to the farm shop. Take care all.

I handed MrOops his cold back yesterday afternoon, he is now dosed up and in bed. Mine is almost gone.
Housework and ironing today, add a couple of items to my shopping delivery and I’m done.

Late good morning from a dry and windy NE, it is 5 degrees.
Sister and BIL will visit this afternoon and we will catch up with family news.
DS and GD2 will visit but may be later than usual as GD has a rehearsal for the school production, they are doing Evita at the theatre in Durham at the end of next month.
Thoughts are with poorly people and their carers.

Awaiting visit from someone who is looking for a home for her 11 year old cat (victim of divorce) to see if I might be a suitable new cat slave. Wish me luck! It will mean certain expensive adaptations to the ground floor arrangements but am happy to do what is needed. I am quite ridiculously excited as we had cats for most of our sixty year married life, just not for the last ten years or so when the last two died (aged 19) because DH was able to trip over a bus ticket and it wasn’t worth the risk.

Morning all from a grey S E Essex it’s 1 degree so practically warm compared to recent days.

I thought my head cold had gone, I was wrong it has reappeared overnight along with a cough I am not happy.

Off to the butcher down our road to pick up a free range chicken and other bits, then a quick pop into Aldi. This afternoon I have to sort out a food delivery. I need to sort out all the books on my kindle before buying any new ones.

Good morning all. Late - too much hurkle-durkling! The snow has all disappeared overnight and now it's 8°, drizzling and gearing up towards the yellow warning status for wind and rain for the next few days. Oh well, variety is the spice of life I suppose.
Apart from a lovely long chat with DS2 as he was driving home from work yesterday, there's nothing of interest to report from here. And as I haven't had time to read your posts yet I have nothing to comment on! So I shall quietly bow out, wishing the poorly and heart-sore a better day, the travellers safe journeys and the stay-at-homes a cosy relaxing day x

The lunchtime recital yesterday was shortened by the organist as it was cold, only half an hour. I’m due to give one there myself in April and must decide on the final programme.
Lovely church and still in place, almost lifesize figures in the crib, very impressive.

Watched Mrs.Harris goes to Paris after a long FaceTime with my sister in the south, but thought it very silly….
Quiet day, friend coming to stay for a night tomorrow, probably bringing wild wind with him (not the intestinal type😁)

A very late good morning from a very mixed up old woman. I was utterly exhausted after my two Glasgow days and slept on the bus home, then dozed in the chair and finally didn’t wake up till nine o’clock this morning. Topped it all off by mixing up a coffee arrangement for this morning which I was sure was for this afternoon🥺
Rearranged for two o’clock when I’ll have to own up that it was indeed my mistake, oh old age.

Good morning from a cloudy, windy and cold East Midlands. The walk out this morning will have to wait as I have to pack for hospital on monday. Hysterectomy! My stomach is quaking but it will pass and I hope to be better for it.

I’m late today, we were watching films last night as we usually do on a Friday. The film was very long with an intermission but we decided to press on to the end. We eventually got to bed at 2:30am so I’m very dopey today. Haven’t read the thread yet, will read it later.
