didn't know that till we made a visit to one last week.
With no football match's to be shown either,
it must be a bundle of fun to visit their pubs.

I wasn’t a fan after a visit years ago, and was a bit sniffy about them, but latterly was introduced by a friend to our local weatherspoons and was pleasantly surprised.
Tea and toast with jam or marmalade (and the bread was nice). About £1.20. . Top ups on drinks are free. Cooked food is basic, but ok ; we had a cooked breakfast for £4.
Many of their buildings are interesting, sometimes rather grand, old features are retained . No dogs rule suits me.

No football if that’s the case suits me too.

If any one is interested our Royal Mail service new special stamps are featuring ten of our favourite dogs.

I actively prefer pubs that allow dogs, and can honestly say I’ve never found them to be bothersome.

Just a note of caution that England senior football team are in action on Friday night 7th June 2024 against Iceland
Its a friendly and kicks off at 19:45pm coverage starts at 19:00pm and FREE TO AIR on Channel 4.

Just in case any one wants to visit Weatherspoons before kick off time.

It’s all very well saying “My dog sits quietly and doesn’t bother anyone”. The problem is that if you allow dogs into eating places you will inevitably get the idiot owners who allow their dogs to roam about, bark, sit at the table or (worse) lick the plates.

I've been in more restaurants and pubs with badly behaved brats than dogs.

England senior team will be in action this coming Saturday 6th July, kicking off at 5pm on BBC1 if any one wants to avoid the football.

infoman Fri 05-Jul-24 02:12:50

just a reminder wall to wall football on Friday afternoon 5th July from 4pm till at least ten past ten,
if the games goes to extra time and penalty's it could go beyond the ten past ten hour

The English nation will grind to a halt on Wednesday
evening the 10th July at 8pm due to the England senior football team being in the semi-finals of the Euros.

I think Weatherspoons will be very busy on Wednesday just in case you were looking for a quiet drink on the night.

infoman Wed 11-Sept-24 02:49:42

Weatherspoons will have a special offer on food and drink on Thursday 12 September with a 7.5 per cent discount on all food and drinks.

Dogs have been elevated to the status of humans. Some are dressed and some have pushchairs !! And they are everywhere

They do not belong in eating places or shops in my opinion
However clean and well behaved They only have to do a quick shake and hair can go anywhere People feed them off the plates and put a bit of tea in the saucer for them, OK no one on here does that !! but some do I ve sat next to a table doing that

When I had dogs I would never dream of taking them to shops/ cafes/ places of interest They got a good walk morning and evening and went out and about with me when I was doing outdoor stuff otherwise they stayed at home and the garden

Tiley to talk about children as brats is nasty I presume you have no grandchildren

I don’t go in Wetherspoons regularly but I admired the buildings and the prices. I think Tim Martin although not someone I particularly like has done a blooming fantastic job with his chain of over 700 venues …That’s some amount

We have always had dogs until the past few years and never went into a pub or restaurant that accepted dogs, though would occasionally sit in a pub garden, because the dog really doesn’t want to be tied to the table leg of an unfamiliar place and sit panting in what could be an over warm and noisy place. Have seen dogs showing signs of distress in these circumstances.
They are not dog friendly at all, or they would offer dogs a big field to run about in and other dogs bottoms to sniff.
If owners want a meal or drink out leave your pooch happily at home in familiar surroundings for an hour or so.

Well said. This dog thing is getting out of hand.

Bit out of date that menu website. Wetherspoons stopped doing steaks and grills around 9 months ago.

That’s fine, if Wetherspoons can afford to turn away half the families in Uk, which is how many have dogs.

36% actually (Sources: UK Pet Food (March 2024), iPET Network (Nov 2024), The Good Kennel Guide (Sept 2025), and Dogs Trust (2024 report). ) They just THINK they are the majority and that we should all bow down to the hound.
