Storm Isha……..are you ready?

Calm here now in Bedfordshire but strong gusty winds expected at times through the day. A tarpaulin blew off one of the outside tables but all seems well otherwise.

We were expecting a plumber to fit the new shower today but I guess he'll be rather busy with people with rather more pressing needs than ours.

Waited until management came in to take the dog let for his early walk so someone would notice if I didn't come back in but it's not that bad this morning. The back of the building, where my living room is, faces seaward and is very exposed and blustery. The front of the building faces landward, and was just a bit blowy.

Not an exciting update, just boosting a non-spam thread.

Very moody outside. I'm in bed, just awake. Put on bedside light to see if we've still got electricity. We have. Phew. There shall be coffee. Just off to check the buckets under the windows.

It has gentled a lot here in SW Wales. Wet but quiet

Been gusty here in inland Dorset. It seems to have quietened now but too dark to see if any damage. Need to collect grandson today. I must go to sleep as need to get up at 7am, I like to sleep through bad storms usually.

Really noisy here, I’ve just heard the greenhouse be blown away! I hope it stays crumpled up in the garden and doesn’t head off damaging something else!
I can touch the windowsill while in bed so I’m relying on heavy curtains.

I am normally fast asleep at this time, no point going up yet, while it is so noisy. Killing time by watching flightradar24 plus a fr thread on m/n. Very addictive, many flights been diverted. Latest watch for me was wroclaw to leeds, then round and around, eventually gave up and is now heading for amsterdam.

Just heard some real gusts outside and whistling down the chimney!

It has been blowing a hooly here (South Oxfordshire) all afternoon.

Unfortunately DD has not been well for a while and was worse today soI rang 111. They decided to send para medics to assess him and an ambulance in case and he was admitted to hospital, so Storm Isha or no storm Isha I have driven the 15 miles to our local hospital to see him, take some clothes and then driven back again.

The journey there wasn't too bad as it wasn't raining, but on the way back, the rain was sluicing down and the windhowling. lots of twigs flying about and small branches down but no trees. I was glad to get home.

Our power has come back on ! I had to get up and go down to the living room to turn off the tv !

Can’t say there is much wind here though.

Unfortunately my rooms aren’t big enough to sleep away from the windows. Will have to rely on heavy curtains to save me from blown in glass.

I should go and look, but Simon Reeve is on the telly.

Earlier on, I filled the water cans 🤞 they won't blow around and make a noise.

Ignore my last post, I was multi tasking, I’m trying to help somebody out. I’ve reported to get it removed.

The wind is really strong and very noisy here now. Our dog has just been pursued across the lawn by a watering can. She’s determined to stay outside! Next door’s fence has lost 3 panels.

Slightly more positive from mid Wales now, the wind seems to be dropping, and according to the Met Office the worst will have passed us by 11pm. Good luck everybody, let’s hope nobody sustains damage.

It’s evening here, in rural east Kent. The wind is blowing a hoolie outside. Loads of trees close to my old wonky cottage, so no plans to go upstairs tonight. On the Prosecco at the mo.

It is very stormy here in southern Scotland especially as I live on a hill. Two power cuts so far tonight and am playing loud music to try and drown out the noise of the wind hurtling down the chimney. Never used to mind storms but find them pretty scary now. House is Victorian so has withstood storms before but still have visions of roof hurtling down the lane! Have my torch and mobile beside me just in case the power goes off . Roll on dawn...

No tv, reckon my aerials a goner thank goodness for the iPad
