Good Morning Everyone,
Dark, dry here at the moment in brackley .
Today my usual trip to Bicester on the bus , I pay the £2 single inwards as my bus pass does not start until 0930 in the week , small shop and talk to friends in the cafe I use .
Then cycling on TV after lunch.
Take Care,
Mick

Morning from a cloudy S Hants, a lot calmer, last night was pretty wild but no damage here, my daughter has lost a fence panel.
Grandson loved his football shirt yesterday, he’s 11 today and went bowling at the weekend.
Voluntary phone today and the butcher for a haggis, quiz tonight.
Enjoy your day.

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s bright and breezy this morning. We have a flood alert for the nearby river so we may be cut off from the local town again today.
I have ironing to do and admin to finish.
I felt much better yesterday and we had a lovely lunch club. Lots of laughter and chatter. We left a little earlier than usual a as the storm was really beginning to cause problems, not least getting the ladies with mobility issues to the cars.
Stay safe and dry.

Good morning from not so sunny but still a little windy Southend! Have not ventured outside as yet, enjoying a lazy morning and hot drinks!

aggie Mon 22-Jan-24 08:48:34

Good morning from a bright and calm Co Armagh!
That was some night , power off then when it came back on the tv was chattering away , I thought I had visitors
I had to get out of bed and go down to the kitchen to turn it off
All seems ok here , the greenhouse is still standing
Today’s journey to the recycling place and the charity shops is postponed
Have the best day possible 💐🕯️

Good morning from Durham. Awake until 5am listening to the wind howling! It really was wild here. The garden is a mess, but no damage. My friend is away for a month - we meet up 2 or 3 times a week, so I’ll miss her. However, her 4am flight was delayed, and with only a 2 hour window for her connecting flight to Jo’burg, she could well be stranded!
Coffee this morning with a friend then onwards and upwards with more decluttering - it’s the hall next.
Best wishes to all. X

Good morning from Shropshire where it is dry and calm at the moment🤞🏻

We are very happy to be home but will need to go back to West Wales at some point. The first half of our journey home went well.We stopped on the Brecon Beacons for a picnic lunch. The second half was horrendous with heavy rain and gale force winds. There were several trees down one was half way across the road.We managed to pass it and I was thinking I should call the emergency services when the police appeared to close the road.

Today will be unpacking, laundry and admin.Living the life!

Mary please don’t overdo it, try and delegate/supervise.x

Wishing everyone the best day possible and as always my thoughts are with Kalu, Baggs, Urms and all with a heavy load to bear🦩💐💐

Kalu Mon 22-Jan-24 08:55:11

Good morning from Glasgow. Gusts of 62 mph and rain battering down during the night has abated slightly to a calmer morning, still windy and drizzly though. Yuck.

Another at home day it is then, foutering and faffing around. DD1 called this morning to tell me a parcel which was left outside her front door instead of her safe place was obviously blown away. A phone call to Amazon unless she finds it during her dog walk.

Have a pleasant day if possible all.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where the wind has dropped at last.

Poor wee soul Grandmabatty, I hope he gets better soon.

Another one watching all the flights trying to land karma, so many people not where they expected to be this morning.

I’ve a horrible cough so I won’t do my volunteer shift today but will continue to try to find a place for four adults, four children, and two dogs to stay for a couple of days in Co Donegal later in the year. Our holiday home in Co Mayo is Friday to Friday and finding somewhere for the weekend is proving tricky.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Very late to the fun for me, good morning from a sunny, mild Cornwall where my broken-footed son and I watched the tall trees above my patio dancing in the wind and the moonlight last night. As he left he nearly tripped down the concrete stairs, yikes. But he thinks the foot is nearly healed after four weeks.

I didn't know about the flight tracker karmalady. Sometimes I browse a similar one for shipping, which is fun as the waters around my town show up chocablock with vessels.

To Wetherspoons at 10 to meet my knitting group pal and tell her I'm pulling out as I can't knit any more. I'll need someone to run it instead and suspect she'll take it on. After that a bus ride to another town to browse my second-favourite charity shop where there's always a good stock of piano music.

Good morning everyone from sunny Severnside. So far as I can see everything looks ok outside. Bins where I left them. Tipping down when I went to bed.

I think I’ll venture out into the garden today to make sure the green waste bin is full for the next collection and clean the bathroom.

A chicken dish of some sort will be on the menu.

Have a good day all 🌥️🌺

Good morning all. Hope nobody has been adversely affected by the storm. It wasn’t too bad in Wiltshire.

3 days of childcare this week await. Today and tomorrow are childcare days; pick up DGD3 from school and give her dinner later - tomorrow her brother all day. Then on Thursday DGS2 again as DD has some event at her workplace in Bath all day. Grandmabatty we had shades of the demon child from a few weeks ago again last week. He refused to eat any breakfast and was very defiant putting his shoes and coat on to go out. After we got back he was fine for the rest of the day.

DD’s partner gave us a load of venison yesterday. He has a friend that is employed to keep the very large local deer population under control.

Grandmattie I tried out Gunpowder cauliflower and lentils last week also from the Waitrose website (in November edition of their food mag). I was very impressed indeed with this recipe. Next time I would use plain yogurt rather than coconut yogurt on top as I’m not a massive fan of coconut although I like coconut milk in recipes.

Thinking of Baggs and her heartbreaking situation. 💐

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright but still very windy Carlisle.
It took me hours to get to sleep last night due to the noise of the storm, something, probably air vents, was rattling about in the loft above my bed every time there was a gust. There seems to be no damage but I shall go out and inspect later. I do have a piece of what appears to be a trampoline part in the back. The neighbour behind dismantled it yesterday evening but something seems to have achieved lift off.
This morning is the usual round of housework and laundry and in the afternoon I have a new piece of tech to put together.
I may start a new book as well as it seems the weather is confining me to barracks. I do hate wind!

Have the best possible day all.

Susan56 Mon 22-Jan-24 09:15:11

Grandmabatty I hope DGS1 is soon on the mend.x

GrannySomerset Mon 22-Jan-24 09:18:36

A noisy night but this morning’s gentle sunshine reveals no obvious damage to the garden. As Maw says, the weather looks as if butter wouldn’t melt in its mouth and yesterday’s wildness is a figment of my imagination. Lunch out with flower club ladies so must make myself presentable. Thinking of all of our posters with a less enjoyable day ahead.

Thorntrees Mon 22-Jan-24 09:36:58

Good morning from Shropshire.
No Storm damage thank goodness ,just breezy so far today.
My amaryllis which I bought before Christmas and thought was never going to do anything finally has 2 lovely pink and cream flowers on. The box it came in said it was a red one so a lovely surprise to brighten the day.
Might get a walk later if the rain holds off.
Eldest daughter travelling from London to Chester by train this morning so hope she is not too delayed.
Thoughts to those with illness, cares and worries.

harrigran Mon 22-Jan-24 09:38:48

Late good morning from a sunny NE after a dreadful night where I slept little.
I wore earplugs to bed and still I could hear horrible noises, I will have to go out and check the roof because it sounded like tiles sliding down.
Will just do some general tidying up and then relax with my book.
Hope all your properties have survived the storm.

Blossoming Mon 22-Jan-24 09:58:33

Good morning Mick and all from windy Lancashire, currently 7°C and more rain is forecast.

The gale was very noisy last night but there doesn’t seem to have been any damage. I need to get on with a few chores, I can’t ignore the dust forever. Nothing else planned for today, we will see how it goes. Hope no grans have been affected by the storm.

Beautiful photo Bellasnana 😊

Have the best day you can everyone. Thinking of those going through hard time ❤️

Morning from baubles bit of South Lanarkshire where I stayed last night with DD2 and family. Onwards to Giffnock later for Monday childminding duties but I’ll call in on the way to catch up with my sister and brother in law which will be good.

I didn’t hear anything during the night, courtesy of hearing aids being on the bedside table but I received a photograph of the damage in our church grounds, several trees down too evidently. Hope that’s the last of it for a while.

Glad you’ve got your new pet arriving soon GrannySomerset I hope she/he brings you much pleasure.

Wishing everybody a good dayx

Taichinan Mon 22-Jan-24 10:12:41

Good morning all from a sunny, breezy Angus coast where last night's storm seems to have been a non-event. The almost-full moon was extremely bright though - shining 'as bright as day'.
I'm glad to see everyone seems to have survived the storm unscathed - apart from the odd roof tile etc. I've yet to do a walk round the garden but yesterday I was pleased to see that both the fish and the snowdrops survived the snow.
Just a day of pottering for me today apart from the beckoning tai chi paperwork which I really must do first.
Have a good day everyone - and try not to overdo things Marydoll!

Oopsadaisy1 Mon 22-Jan-24 10:12:51

Good morning from a very windy Oxfordshire, what a wild night! One heavy garden bench is in the hedge, but apart from that everything else seems ok, but the wind was so very loud and strong, I’ll go out and look at the roof later.
Housework and the usual clear up today, I need to gather things together for our week away from Saturday. A family holiday near the coast, some days 13 of us some days 7 so I’ve started to freeze meals and buy bits for the pantry to take, a delivery of food once we arrive and hopefully lots of meals out.
Have a calm day everyone, let’s enjoy the sunshine from indoors.

Taichinan Mon 22-Jan-24 11:29:08

Oh dear baubles, that's more than 'the odd roof tile'! (Crossed posts).

Auntieflo Mon 22-Jan-24 11:33:06

Good morning from a sunny corner of Berks. I am finally up, showered, hair washed and coffee in hand. It takes me ages to bet going in the mornings, so I often don't read your posts until after lunch.
I see from the topics, that there was a lot of Spam earlier, but I missed all that. Hope it caused no trouble.
I don't think that the storm has done any damage here that I can see anyway, and due to my disappearing hearing, I wasn't disturbed by the wind.
Yesterday morning we had a Blue Jay in the back garden. It was lovely to see, as we haven't seen one for ages. I did manage to bet a quick snap of him, but it's not very good on my ipad.
The first lot of washing is whirring round and a second lot to do afterwards. Apart from that, the day is empty, but I shall try and do a bit of knitting.
Marydoll, take it easy. Sending my best to all who are poorly or struggling.
Have a good day one and all.

dustyangel Mon 22-Jan-24 11:59:38

Good morning everyone, I’m especially glad you posted AuntieFlo, I was thinking it was too late for me to! Same sort of reasons as you and my hair needs cutting so is taking ages to dry at the moment.
Your Jay is as difficult to see as my Bluetit having a bath, we were laughing so much at him splashing in his thorough wash. What a beautiful garden you’ve got.
