Good morning everyone from a finally smooth and quiet south Manchester after a night of fierce gales which pressed hard against our bedroom window. Boy was it trying to get in! So glad it was during the night and we were snug as bugs.

It’s the birthday of our Yorkshire Lass this week. She will be 46y. A true Aquarian - friendships are very important to her. I’ve bought a card ages ago and with one thing and another I’ve forgotten to post it. Nip down later to the post office , I hope it gets there in time.

No Matt = Monday.

Good morning all, from a wet and windy Glasgow with thunderstorms.
I have hardly had any sleep, between the storm and worrying about DD, whom DH told me was driving to Newcastle this morning and driving back home tonight in this awful weather.
I messaged her to say Safe Journey. However, DH got it wrong, she is going on Wednesday and coming back on Friday. Why does that man never listen or get a hearing aid?.😡

I hope you are all safe and haven't suffered any serious damage.
I need to get up and out. Our sacristy had rain pouring through the roof yesterday and the Sunday night sacristan has injured her hand, cleaning up. From the photos she sent, I suspect it is broken. I fear the ceiling may be down this morning. 😭
I was exhausted when I got home yesterday after clearing up..

Have the best day you can and stay safe. As always, keeping all our Granspals in my thoughts and prayers.

P.S. I have emailed GNHQ about the spam, ( probably won't respond) it must be a bot, there are too many of them. The best way to get rid of them, is to post on other threads and knock them off the active list.

Good morning everyone, Wow that was a wild night and it's been many years since I've said that! My garden has escaped the worse of it and will be out later on pulling everything back out of their hiding places. Relieved not to have to make any journeys today as there must be trees down & branches all over.
Take care out there everyone and hope you can all have a good safe day x

NannyJan53 Mon 22-Jan-24 08:11:16

Good morning from a dark Black Country, where the rain and wind has abated.

Walk this morning, then Line Dancing with my friend this afternoon, so a busy day. MrJ has to stay in as Octopus are coming anytime between 8am and 6pm to change the Smart meter.

Wishing you all the best day possible....with special love and thoughts of Baggs and Urms Mary and Kalu

Bellasnana Mon 22-Jan-24 08:04:58

Good morning from a very sunny Malta, temperature around 14°C.

DD3 is not well today but I’m still babysitting so she can go to the doctor.

Later I have the painter starting on decorating my bedroom. Will be glad to have the mess over with.

Whilst sorting cupboards yesterday I came across a lovely toy given to me by a friend when the boys were born. I had totally forgotten about it but have brought it with me and they are enjoying it.

Take care all. Sorry to hear of storms. Stay safe and have the best day possible.☀️

Morning all from a blowy West Oxfordshire.
My new non-memory mattress is still doing the trick. I should have made the swop years ago when I realised a memory mattress wasn’t for me.
Not sure what we’re doing today. I have to pop to Waitrose whatever but OH would like to go to the cinema as an extra birthday treat. He enjoyed his lunch yesterday.
I need to do some housework as we still haven’t sorted out a new cleaner.
Have a good day and I’m thinking especially of Urms and Baggs.🌹

Pantglas2 Mon 22-Jan-24 07:55:32

Gosh that was wild ….💨🌬️ I ventured to put the 🚮 recycling out as no one was silly enough to do it last night so now I’m recovering with the chamberpot ☕️ and my hair looks like Don King’s (boxing promoter, anyone….?)😂

Hope everyone is safe and homes are undamaged - I shall send Mr PG around PG Towers and grounds later (not sure I @ctually granted permission for this lie in he appears to be having….😴)

I’m another doing a charity drop off today Monk but mine will be accompanied by opening my mouth for 🍰 not a dentist!

A good day for all who can 🌻

GrannyGravy13 Mon 22-Jan-24 07:43:54

Morning all, it appears to be still outside, haven’t checked for damage yet though.

This head cold is not going anywhere, contemplating whether or not to go to the gym this morning.

(((Hugs))) to all in need 🙋‍♀️👋

monk08 Mon 22-Jan-24 07:37:26

Good morning all from the Black country dry and not to windy.
Dentist this morning and a drop off at the charity shop.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

kittylester Mon 22-Jan-24 07:28:06

Good morning all. The wind seems to have abated after the storms.

Just some clearing up after the influx of DD3 and co - we were both too tired after they had gone. It was a lovely day.

I also need to marinade some butter chicken.

Have the best day possible, everyone.

cornergran Mon 22-Jan-24 07:23:09

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset is windy and wet.

Mr C has cardiac rehab this morning. He’ll be pleased when it’s finished now. Not sure what I’ll do other than look for several birthday cards, depends what it’s like out there. A list of things I’ve been ignoring will fill the afternoon.

Hope everyone has stayed safe in the storm and Monday is kind to us all.

loopyloo Mon 22-Jan-24 07:22:57

Good morning and thanks to you all for all the chirpy get up and go messages.
It really helps.
Off to Latin this morning and once again I haven't done any homework.
Back for lunch and check on DH and dog then to dentist to have filling repaired.
So glad the wind has died down.
Will stroll outside and see if any fences are down.
I will buy some seville oranges and make marmalade.
Have the best day possible.

Good morning from a dark Colchester. A lot of wind and rain overnight which disturbed our sleep but was nothing compared to a lot of the country. Dry, sunny and 11° is today's forecast with a few wind gusts at lunchtime.
A walk to the Town Hall this morning for a Council Residents Panel meeting. We'll see presentations about the future of the City and give our opinions. It usually gets quite heated.
I am trying to use up freezer contents that have been languishing, so lasagne tonight.
Love to all 🦩 x

Gingster Mon 22-Jan-24 07:16:11

Good morning all. What a night! 💨.

I worry about my summerhouse in Suffolk. We lost one in a storm a few years ago ! I’ll message my neighbour later.

Calmer now but I’ll take little DGD to school .

I’m picking up new glasses at 10 and then having lunch with an old pal. That will be a long un!

I hope you’re all safe and sound with no damage. 🙏

luluaugust Mon 22-Jan-24 07:07:59

Good morning from an after the storm W Kent. Over the roads half finished roof seems to be intact.
Gas man coming to fit new job and lovely cleaner should also arrive.
All the best.

RosesandLilac Mon 22-Jan-24 07:07:02

Good morning, it’s wet and windy here in south Glos, hopefully the worst of it is over.
DH and the dog enjoyed their long muddy walk yesterday, both spent the afternoon asleep in front of the fire.
A quiet week ahead 🌹

Whitewavemark2 Mon 22-Jan-24 07:06:08

Good morning from the South Downs, which is a lot calmer after a night of fierce winds.

A day of housework.

The seagulls broke the squirrel feeder trying to get to the contents - a new hopefully seagull proof is on order.

The mouse/mice appear to have relocated to the garden, as no sign of any in the house, and the dog clearly thinks they have all gone.

Enjoy your day all.

Peace and harmony

Greyduster Mon 22-Jan-24 06:35:37

Good morning Michael and all GNs. Still dark in South Yorkshire but the sky is clear and starry. Looks relatively calm but I’m sure it’s not. I was on my feet all day yesterday and was exhausted by eight o’clock when DD and the menfolk went home. It’s DD’s birthday today and I said I would go out and have breakfast with them but after that I plan to come home and take it easy.
Have the best day you can folks.

grandMattie Mon 22-Jan-24 06:09:12

Good morning from Bristol. We had wind and rain in the early night, but it is dry and calm ATM. I think we may miss the worst if the storm and be only on the fringes.
Yesterday turned out busier than I expected. After church and very successful sale of marmalade, I came home to finish off the batches I had started. They made another 20 pots.
I decided to start shifting stuff from the spare bed into my new cupboard, but haven’t finished as I’m not sure yet what I’ve got to unpack and how much more space I’ll have.
I was exhausted p, warmed up a meal and fell asleep in front of “Vera”.
Today I have - the painter starting on the living room, the toddler group, very necessary supermarket shop and possibly the “old dears’ film” in the church hall in the afternoon. Phew!
My thoughts and prayers to all those in sickness and distress, especially Marydoll and baggs.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩

karmalady Mon 22-Jan-24 06:05:13

Good morning from s somerset, windy but not as bad as up north

I am resting today, went up late because of the wind and watching flightradar, watching the circling and the very long diversions

Only knitting later and I have a large casserole to make destined for ready meals

Have a safe day

Grandmabatty Mon 22-Jan-24 05:58:14

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and windy. The storm has abated somewhat, although the power is out in most of Polmont.
Enjoy your chat with friends Mick.
Yesterday I made myself move. Dd nipped in with dgs1 and left him for a few minutes while she went to Aldi. After they left, I collected a parcel from the local retail park. There was much surface water at that point, so I visited mum earlier than usual. She was chatty which was nice.
Today is early childcare day. Dgs1 is still quite unwell so won't be at nursery. He has the possibility of tonsillitis and ear infection and may need antibiotics but not quite yet. Dd had him at the out of hours doctor yesterday. He's a wee peelywally soul. So I'll have both boys. I'll bring them to my house for the morning then take them home after lunch and they can nap in their own beds. Hopefully dgs2 will behave better than last week! Have a good day all and I hope no-one has suffered any damage.

Ashcombe Mon 22-Jan-24 05:55:09

Good morning from a becalmed Torbay following a rough time until the early hours with heavy rain and strong winds. It looks like the wheelie bins have been partying and are in a state of disarray now!

It sounds like you’ve escaped the storm, Mick.

I have my Move It Or Lose It Class later but more domestic chores await this morning, including ironing.

I hope today is the start of a good week for everyone. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩
