What are you doing today ?

I am going to stand on Captain Cook bridge and take photos of the yachts in the Ausralia Day race from the Botany Bay YC.
I’m not looking forward to it. It’s very hot.

Deliberately overslept as I woke at the usual time feeling tired. This meant that fater doing the ironing and tidying up I did not have time to throughly clean the kitchen as planned before two couples came to view the house, which is for sale.

Show round was being done by the agent, so when he arived I elft to go and get a new tyre for my car and then drive through traffic to 'local' hospital 15 miles away, spend some time driving round the car park before I found a gap between all the cars parked on the double yellow lines and went in to bring DH home after having a pacemaker fitted.

As ever in these situation, he is sitting in an empty room fully dressed waiting, and waiting and waiting for the pills to come up from the pharmacy and for the doctor's letter to be printed. I arrived around 2.00pm and they turned up at 4.30pm. Nicely ensuring that we left the hospital slap in the rush hour.

An hour and a half later and trwo broken down cars, we completed the usual half hour drive home from the hospita. WE drove directly to our local restaurant for supper and when we got home DH went to bed and I am relaxing on GN.

After a restless night, got myself up and ready to face the day. Stripped the bed and put on a wash. Had to wait in for the phone call that DH was expecting from his consultant, and discovered that he will need one more check up, then annually. Good news. Got the washing onto the line to blow for a couple of hours. It didn't dry much, but was nice to have had it outside. Did some more knitting and had a snooze after lunch.
Had a visit from a bathroom fitter to look and measure, and wait for a quote to replace our bath with a walk in shower.
Made Italian liver with pasta and spinach for supper. More knitting to come and probably watch Dragons Den.

Took walking sticks to DD1 to see if that helps with her slipped disc. Dropped dogfood off with DD2 and collected her laundry- 4 loads! Coffee and cake in Newcastle, then a hair appointment at 4pm. Traffic a nightmare getting home, so not been home very long.

Woke up to a sore gum from an abscess that’s been bothering me for a while (due to have the tooth removed next month). 😩

At noon I had a 30 minute consultation with a dentist (implantologist) who was 30 minutes late for our appointment and it cost me £120. 😱 💷💷

This afternoon I spent some time on the phone trying to remain calm when told the cooker hood I ordered from John Lewis is not going to be delivered on Monday as promised. There have already been THREE missed delivery dates and I’m very, very cross. So I then got on the phone to JL’s customer service line to complain as I have no confidence that the delivery will arrive on Tuesday, as re-re-re-scheduled. 😡

Then I popped out to the shops and somehow lost one of my favourite string shopping bags. 😢

Finally settled down to some work and did a bit of editing and proof reading before logging on to GN because I can’t concentrate well enough to be sure I’m doing the job competently. So I’m off to make the dinner: venison in a ginger coriander and onion sauce served with yesterday’s leftover couscous. What’s the betting I burn it? 🔥

I’ve been over to my mums flat to start clearing it as she’s now in care, it’s daunting and much more emotional than I envisaged so it’s taking a while. Back home with four jam packed files full of admin to sort !
Out again this afternoon to visit mum in the care home, then back to son’s house to get DGC their tea before they rush off to gymnastics.
Lastly a ten mile trek to a chemist to pick up other DGC medication before it closed at 5.30.
Just sat down to beans on toast phew hope it’s quieter tomorrow!

I packed up our holiday let this morning in North Yorkshire, it takes at least an hour, we then drove back to East Yorkshire.
Home, unpacked and kettle on, I then had to deal with my three AC on the phone as one of them has done something the others disapprove of😬.
Quick change and make up on to pick up my new Mini, I felt quite ashamed of the state of my old one it was filthy, the garage weren’t bothered and my new one gleams and smells wonderful!
Did a quick meal plan and inventory then off to Waitrose, drove home unpacked shopping, emptied washer, filled tumbler and rooted in the freezer for tomorrow evenings supper.
About to start tonight’s supper and do some admin.

Today I did some much needed sorting and shredding of old paperwork. Some of it went back years. Still some to finish, but I’ve made a good start. I must get out of the habit of keeping paperwork “just in case” (obviously some things have to be kept for a certain length of time, but I really need to check my files more frequently to avoid build up).
Next job will be to go through all the books we have - some can be passed on to the charity shops as I know I’ll never read them again.

I went to have laser eye surgery today which went well, however the nurse gave me the wrong drops in my eyes and it look 8 more lots of drops to get my eyes ok for the surgery. She came and apologised profusely.

This procedure will stop my getting glaucoma which my sister has. I’m very grateful to have had it.

This morning I made a chocolate cake and 18 lemon cupcakes. Tidied and put some washing in.
Have just got back one of my sewing group and DH is making a cup of tea. He is out this evening so I am going to catch up on missed episodes of Landscape Artist of the Year.

I met up with a group of friends in town for coffee and chat.Then,coming home on the bus,met what could have been the man of my dreams! We sat side by side as the bus was packed.Chatted together until it came to my stop and will probably never meet again.He did ask if I would like to go ballroom dancing but I have 2 left feet so the answer had to be no!

I am singing with a choir this evening, for Holocaust Memorial Day.

Just back from hospital for husband’s appt. He has had a CPAP machine since Sept and it is hopeless. He has not had a decent night’s sleep since he got it. He is now on 5th mask and they are sending a whole new machine too.

Apparently the hospital has a contract with Phillips to supply these machines. There has been a production delay so they sent a different machine to loads of people including my husband. The Consultant says they call them CRAP machines because all the patients she has spoken to say they are rubbish.

We then went out for lunch.

Now having a cup of tea.

I worked this morning.
Now bleaching the shower. That's the easy part. The floor tiles are rough non slip (like you get in swimming pools) and they rip all my mop heads. And I just can't get them clean they are so pitted..
Grrrrr. Bad mood, I might be a long while.

I love the sound of the worry-eating elephant. Am trying to sort out a second quote for flooring for a local charity I belong to - we're raising money for local people in need, currently a family who've just moved into a new build Housing Assoc property which has bare concrete floors, dust making child's asthma worse. Getting 2nd quote is a bit of a nightmare actually. Also writing a fantasy epic - that's fun.

A walk to collect a prescription, a small food shop, finding a recipe for yellow lentil dal, knitting 2 more legs and one ear of my worry-eating elephant 🐘 - maybe even finishing it.

I've started a project to make replacement wraparound cushion covers and seat pads for my two cane chairs and foot stool. We've also been out for a carvery lunch.

Sorting out the donations in a charity shop. Dumping others people’s rubbish into our skip that costs us money 😡
Taking good children’s clothes that we haven't been able to shift to a family centre that needs them. Then taking duvet stuffing to a lady that makes cushions for us to sell.

Many family Birthdays this time of year. Sorting them out.

Just taken another bag of clothes to Salvation Army drop off.

I’ve been for a food shop, took a walk and chatted to a disabled neighbour about his bird feeders. Now I’m going to make the bed, and do some exercises the GP gave me for my hip pain, then I’ll catch up with a tv program I want to watch or read.
Nothing interesting to see here 🦸🏼‍♂️

I have toy boxes that need sorting I will put toys my GC are too old for into charity bags. I buy replacements for them when they visit us they like to see news things to play with.
I am also finishing off preparing our Burns night supper.

Knitting yet another pair of socks...can't beat hand knitted socks for comfort and warmth. Wool arriving today for an Outlander shawl so looking forward to starting on that.

Washing and ironing, it takes me all day as I have to have frequent sit downs.
Recycle collection tomorrow so will sort that too.
