We shared haggis, neeps and mash with my brother and his wife last night, no gravy, onion or otherwise, it was very nice though. Then we played a board game new to us, a good evening.
Tesco delivery later, pub tonight.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 5° and damp. There was torrential rain not long ago. Purple pixie I wish you a speedy recovery. Marydoll a dishwasher tablet in the slow cooker with a little water and switch it on might work. GrandMattie definitely put some boundaries in. Because you are such a helpful person, you are being taken advantage of.
Yesterday the meeting with my brother was remarkably amicable. I was pleased, but a bit sceptical because he's not usually that accommodating. I'll take it while it lasts though. As suspected, he's still using mum's bank account to pay bills and she's been in hospital for nine months and won't be able to return home. I made it clear he had to transfer responsibility to his account. He's living there. Later I had a worrying phonecall from my aunt to say my uncle is in hospital in Spain with a slight stroke. She was understandably upset. It came out of the blue.
Today I'm meeting a friend for coffee. I feel better and the virus has disappeared. I expect dd and the boys might nip in this morning for a while. Other than that, a quiet day ahead. Have a good day all

Good morning from a bright W Kent. A very happy evening yesterday with DS, DIL and GS 3. The lasagne went down well and we had a good chat. My big ball of knitting wool arrived to knit a simple cowl. When I think what I used to knit…, but I am looking forward to seeing how it goes.

Good morning from a dry and clear skied Oxfordshire, rain overnight so wet underfoot, not that I’m going anywhere.
Hairdresser will be here this morning then I have a house to clean and cases to pack, the car will be stuffed, but most of it will be used during the week so not so much to bring back home.
You have a very cheeky Vicar GM and I don’t really mean that in a good way, I peeled 2 onions yesterday and it was a really painful experience, I’m going to buy frozen peeled onions in future, it took me nearly 20 minutes for my eyes to get back to normal and I breathed through my mouth and not my nose (didn’t help). Maybe it depends on the freshness of the onions? Mine were ‘new’.
My neighbour opposite died last week, she’s the last of the people I knew when we first moved into the village, I don’t know anyone now I’ve stepped back from the various voluntary posts I had. Sadly we are away and will miss her funeral. Her house is being cleared and will go up for sale , and will probably go quickly, the houses in our village tend to be snapped up.
Welcome Purplepixie I hope you recover well, like many others having the op, for me, it was a very good move.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. The high winds woke me at 4am. I’m off to the MacMillan centre for my last complimentary reflexology session. I shall take the therapist a bottle of wine as a thank you and also call in at the XRD in the adjacent hospital with a box of biscuits. The staff there were so helpful looking for my earring - which later turned up at home after all.

I have a busy day, taking a 4yr old GS to gymnastics this morning, then I will be picking up his 6yr old sister from school at 2ish back here for snacks. Then usual pickup of The Imp and 8 yr old between 3.15-4pm.

Looking forward to collapsing on the sofa this evening 🤣

I shall peel and cut the onions then put them in the food processor.

Not the usual fayre here GM. DH often has haggis, neeps and tatties. I asked him about the gravy, he has never heard of it either.
Haggis bonbons are a favourite canapé at weddings.

Good morning from a dry day on the South Downs.

Had a reasonably relaxed day yesterday, did a bit more spring cleaning and really just fiddled around all day which I enjoyed.

Today is forecast dry, so into the garden. Try to clear a bit more of the rockery and scree garden which was really neglected last year. Toying with the idea of cutting a low growing but widespread conifer right back. It will be drastic, but will uncover a lot of ground.
Will do a bit more spring cleaning and that’s it for today. I am ignoring the mountain of ironing.

First is our walk together - me and the dog, which puts us right for the day.

I had the bright idea of making red onion chutney with 1.5 gs of onions to thinly slice. Gave up after 2 so need to press on today!
Going with DH to buy guttering today. Fun outing.

Good morning from a bright, breezy Colchester. I've been trying to take a photo of the moon from my bedroom window. A smart phone doesn't do it justice.
I was woken early by heavy rain and wind but we are forecast a dry sunny day with temperatures back in single figures.
Not sure what we're doing today. Just pootling and playing it by ear.

Good morning all from a showery Glasgow, where it's 5°C. My DH is golfing today, he is mad! Of course the utility room will be full of wet gear all weekend!

Yesterday started off gently, I was still in my pyjamas at 11am, (virtually unknown). I just felt awful. DIL1 advised me to stay in them, as I obviously needed a rest.
However, it is not in my psyche, so I gave myself a shake. It was wise, because DS2 DIL and Babydoll arrived for an unexpected visit. We had found a photo of DS at the same age, it was uncanny, Babydoll and DS were like peas in a pod.
Such a joyful afternoon! 😍 Mr MD was positively beaming!

I was smug that dinner was cooking in the Ninja slow cooker, so no stress, until I absent mindedly turned it to sear, instead of stay warm. 😡
The pot is still soaking. Any ideas how to get a black mess off a Ninja pot? 😪

GM, I have never heard of haggis with onion gravy, that is a bit of work for you to do. You sound like me, its very difficult to say No! to the clergy. Have you got goggles for the onion cutting?

It's good you have your appointment Ash quite quickly. I am an MRI and CT veteran. My trick is to count forwards and backwards in French. Once I was so quiet, the technician thought I was unconscious,
On another occasion, the fire alarm sounded and DH said there were fire fighters everywhere, but I was oblivious. It turned out to be a false alarm. I was disappointed to miss the firefighters, I do like a man in a uniform. 😉

Today, I am going to meet a friend for coffee. I am so looking forward to it. Afraid to make plans, due to the unpredictability of my health, I gave myself a talking too!

There has been so much sadness and serious ill health recently on this thread, I pray for better days for you all. Purplepixie, I hope your convalescence is going well. Having a hysterectomy was once of the best decisions I ever made.

Good morning everyone from a still dark and dry Northampton; 6°C out and a sunny day forecast.

A sad day as we say goodbye to my dear Brother-in-law at his funeral. Many people are expected, and his daughter has advised us to get there early. DS and DD-out-law are picking me up around 10am for the drive to the Peterborough area. Black is not expected, so I am wearing a bright orange coat, which my niece says will be fine! Men have been asked to wear colourful waistcoats.
A quick breakfast before that and some snacks to take with me as it will be a long day and afternoon before we get to the wake.
Then home where I have a ready meal curry waiting in the fridge; won't want to cook after a long day.

I spoke to my bereaved neighbour yesterday for the first time since his DWife died last werk; he is keeping busy with funeral arrangements, but is obviously very sad, although realising that it was inevitable, and in one way good that she is out of pain. A difficult time indeed.

Thoughts with people struggling with worries and sadness, and hope all have a pleasant day.

I can’t imagine how anyone can chop 60 onions without ending up in considerable discomfort grandMattie 🫣, how presumptuous of him!
I just couldn’t get warm yesterday although it wasn’t cold outside, I felt really quite odd. My nose and face were so cold.
I want to get on with the socks I’m knitting today, I have a big sock yarn stash, mainly hand dyed by artisan wool spinners 😍

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
Our gardener is coming this morning to prune our roses and dig up a shrub we would like replacing.
After she has started I will drive into our nearby town and attend an Arts Society talk on Dame Laura Knight. I’ll whizz back home afterwards and then drive OH and I to one of our favourite lunch places. He doesn’t really get going until late morning because of the various medication he takes.

Good morning from Cornwall where the moon is shining brightly on to my bed as I didn't close my curtains last night. Sun forecast today so I may head for St Ives and sit above the town and relish the views.

A long catch-up with my best friend yesterday, in McDonald's of all places as it was central for both of us. Lots to chat about as ever. Met a woman on crutches as I crossed our piazza to the library. We stopped and had a long chat about our various situations. Didn't know her from Eve but we had something important in common. Well, here's the Biffa truck with its flashing light competing with the moon. Time to make a coffee and move to the patio.

In all my 70 years I've never heard about a vicar asking someone to deal with his haggises, probably because I'm in Cornwall. 😄

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It’s dark in South Yorkshire but I can see that it’s drizzling. I changed my mind about walking group yesterday morning and went for a swim instead. I haven’t been swimming since the end of the summer and it definitely showed. For some reason I couldn’t seem to swim in a straight line! Afterwards I went over to have lunch and a long chat with DD. Bathroom cleaning this morning and volunteering this afternoon.

A quick good morning and a note to Ashcombe if you havent had an MRI before they are very very noisy. And I followed the advice of a friend, who also had a head and neck one, and shut my eyes as I lay on the "couch" and didnt open them till it was finished and I was out.
You will be given headphones but it it still incredibly noisy. I concentrated on the noise and what it would sound like next and from what angle it would come. So in the end it became quite interesting and not frightening.
One of the technicians patted my hand and said you will be fine which was so kind and I was. It didnt last thst long 20 mins I should think and was soon over with.

Well our council tax bill has been decided, up by 10% and we in somerset are still losing all the public toilets everywhere in the county and the cctv that keeps us safe and the sports fields that keep young people off the streets. That is only the tip of the iceberg, very many services are being scrapped

I am off to Frome in a few hours, very steep streets in Frome. I have not found the so-called Frome vibe yet, just a typical run-down town with a market and poor pavements

Yesterday, I received an appointment for an MRI scan in early February, which has come through quite quickly, possibly thanks to pressure from the consultant who examined me last week. It is hoped that this will discover the cause of the loss of some peripheral vision.

Today might involve a Lidl shop but I have to await delivery of a parcel for olddudders. The cost of import duty has risen sharply since Brexit for deliveries to France so he prefers to use my home as an accommodation address (in more ways than one!)
