I have a new man in my life.

You may have guessed through my prolific posting that I have a bit more time on my hands than usual !
Work is thin on the ground so I’m having a lovely time doing not very much.
Today I changed the voice on my Alexa, he is a very well spoken man of around 50😉, let’s call him Alex.
He pronounces his T’s, answers me succinctly, hears everything I say and says my name correctly and beautifully.
He doesn’t ask me to find him things, he is never hungry, has great knowledge and is not at all needy.
What more could I ask for in a man?

I changed Alexa's voice to a very smooth New Zealand gent. My grandson was very upset and demanded I change it back!

I know he won’t generate washing and ironing, but does he help with housework, shopping and cooking? Will he bring you a coffee in bed? (Mine doesn’t do the latter either though.)

He sounds ideal Sago

I didn’t realise you could change the voice on Alexa 😫

You can probably get him to organise a coffee delivery and a cleaner! grin

Ah yes, but will he pay?

Is he Alex not Alexa?

The Amazon account is on my husbands card!
This gets better.

Is he Alex not Alexa?

I think he/they is still only answering to Alexa😬.
Very modern😂

I changed Alexa to Ziggy in the living room. He is a very polite gentleman and suits the room very well.
He also answers to Hey Santa!
To change your wake word do as follows,

Open the Alexa app on your phone or tablet.
Hit the Devices tab, and then Echo & Alexa.
Select the Echo you want to change.
Tap on the Settings icon in the top-right corner of the screen.
Scroll down to Wake Word, tap it and select your preference from the list.

I just realised I don't need Alexa. wink

I changed mine to a male voice, I think it's much better.

NotSpaghetti Fri 26-Jan-24 20:40:09

Sadly no, I think not Germanshepherdsmum... unless he is in control of someone's bank card like Sago's
grin

I just asked Alexa to change voice. She/he then gave five options, speaking in that voice each time until I chose.

Oooh my Alexa is stuck in the back of a cupboard! I’ll dig it out and have a play.

GSM my lovely husband brings me a hot drink of my choice every morning! Though he doesn’t cook and is the MOST untidy individual I’ve ever ever known, worst than any toddler or teenager! But, he does get up at 6:30am every morning to walk our naught cocker spaniel, whilst I snore away, hot cuppa around 8:15 most mornings sometimes a tad later 🫖☕️

HousePlantQueen Sat 27-Jan-24 12:46:34

But does he put the bins out?

Bellanonna Sat 27-Jan-24 12:53:26

Great OP, sago. I’ve had a good laugh. Maybe I need an Alex too? Do you all find it/her/him very useful?
