Mobile phone too hard to use

You can speak to the phone and ask it to call numbers for you or to send texts or WhatsApp messages. Ask someone to show you how to do it. You can sele t a large font so you can read it easily too.

You’d probably use it more if you get an iPhone, it works just the same as your iPad, I love it because it’s integrated, so your photos and apps are the same on both, it makes life very easy.

I use a little stylus on mine as I can't type accurately in such a small space.

I seem to be alone in not having it always in my hand

I was at an airport hotel yesterday; everyone around me was gazing at their mobile phones.

I couldnt use mine constantly, too small, I prefer a larger screen and pop-up keyboard.

You are not alone watermeadow I have dyspraxia, which means I lack fine motor control, I also have numb fingers on my right hand and dyspraxia means that while you know the order thats icons/letters ought to be pressed, your fingers have a mind of their own and do them in the order thay want.

Most of you will have seen the typing errors in some of my posts, so know what I mean. A stylus is no good because it needs to be held and directed precisely, whch of course I cannot do.

To be honest I do not use a phone very much anyway. I have no desire to be constantly sending text messages to my dear ones and all and sundry. I am quite content to exchange emails and speak to them on the phone every week.

I also have dificulty hearing people properly anywhere where there is background noise. No, I am not going deaf, its the dyspraxia thing again.

I also find the shape of mobile phones very uncomfortable to hold. It aggravates both my carpal tunnel problems and has given me tendonitis.

It is great for Sat Nav and showing me where I am going, but otherwise a grossly over rated device.

I have a laptop on my desk with everything I want on it, and my landline phone with its curved shape is much more comfortable to hold.

I have what many people call "an old lady phone" it can make phone calls, texts and take a picture and I am more than happy with that. I am tech savvy and have a tablet, laptop and ereader but would hate my whole life to be on a phone that I could easily lose. I also have hearing problems so like to make phone calls st home where it is quiet and am better off with a larger key board as I have arthritic fingers.x

You don’t have to type, you can press one button and “talk” your messages in.
Is there a friend or relation that could give you some instruction?

I use a stylus M0nica but it's not very precise.

I could have written your post water meadow. I don’t have a contract so not paying because I only use it for photos or looking up things when there’s WiFi available .
If not I don’t use it. I’m company I am usually the only person not looking at it every 5 minutes.

The problem, Callistemon is that my fingertips are numb, so grasping a stylus is less easy than jabbing at the device with one very imprecise finger, plus, as I said, the nature of dyspraxia.

Redrobin51 the biggest problem is that if someone older has problems using mobile phones, in particular, it is always put down as us being techno phobes, or pig headed or losing our marbles when, so often, it is caused by physical problems we have, some, yes, the problems of age, but others physical problems that much younger people have.

I remember describing the problems of dyspraxia and mobile phones on a thread some time ago and another member of the forum responded that her 14 year old grandson had dyspraxia - and the same problems using mobile phones that I had.
