Well the Soops are in need of virtual hugs I think, both in the wars! Glad that baby Batty is on the mend and hope the rest of the coughs colds etc are clearing up.
We had a lovely holiday but of course it’s been a long day. A young friend stayed in our home last night. Despite being told we only use the top lock, he locked both when he left and posted the keys through the letterbox.
We have been sitting on the drive for nearly two hours, contacting 24 hour locksmiths who are not. DH and next door neighbour are currently removing the window from the utility room door …
We have Tesco and the chiropodist arriving at 10 am!

A dozy day here. We’re both tired after an excellent weekend. It feels very cold which doesn’t help.

Pleased for you blossoming, you’ve come through so well. Travelling is exhausting brook, I’m glad you’re home in one piece after an enjoyable time. Good news about your grandson grandmab, it does sound as if there’s some jostling for pole position going on .

Good evening kitchen pals, thanks to you all for your kind wishes, I arrived back home here in Inverness about 4ish after a good day travelling. Ive had a lovely time but it’s always nice to get back home to my own bed although it seems far too quiet here just now! Travelling always makes me feel tired - we just had soup when I got in and I’ve been falling asleep on the sofa all evening 🤣
Good to hear your youngest DGS is doing ok now grandmabatty and alls well, DGS1 must feel very grown up now he’s 5!

A pretty good day today. Dgs2 coped well with his stitches and was running about my house this afternoon. Dgs1 is getting to be cheeky and everything is "Not fair!" It's a stage and will pass. He wants to eat later because he's five. He wants to have control of the tv remote because he's five. You get the picture. I'm having a quiet half hour before I make my dinner. Roast chicken in gravy with mash and broccoli. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners

Dgs2 and I are doing fine today so far. He's had two bowls of lentil soup and a yoghurt pouch for an early lunch. He was very sore this morning but better now as it loosens off. He's not keen to let me out of his sight at the moment. Dgs1 proudly announced his brother had a cut on his balls so some explanation was required. 😂 I'm about to try and get him to nap. Wish me luck

Blossoming I also only have decent sight in one eye.
I have only blurred peripheral vision in my left eye and if the other one is closed can't see anything at all.
I am quite sure Grandmabatty knew just what you meant so don't worry about it.
It is a beautiful day here after a heavy frost.
My GD is working from home and as soon as she finishes she is taking me shopping in the new car.
Such excitement.

Big hug to you and your DGS *Grandmabatty ❤️ A cataract is a better diagnosis than diabetic retinopathy, as there is a treatment option that could improve things. You must be worn out after a hectic weekend, hope you can get some sleep tonight.

Sharing a pic of my fully treated eyes as I am just so happy to have them both open and looking in the same direction . The photophobia, scintillation and blind spots will remain for life, but are easier to cope with when both eyes are working together.

Hello kitchen people. I hope you’re all having as good a day as possible. Much love to the Soops.
We went to the cinema for an early showing of Dune 2. What an excellent film. We love sci fi.
Then lunch at a new place, recommended by a friend. A delicious meal. Good and friendly service and a wonderful venue. On the Thames with a very friendly swan which keeps an eye on the car park! There had been a lot of flooding and the river was flowing pretty fast, but all was well.
I am making some decisions about my latest stained glass object. I think I will have it framed and display it in front of the downstairs loo window. It needs light showing through it to show off my lead painting,

Good really Grandmabatty your eye is treatable, hopefully in the not too distant future and your grandson has his spirit, he’ll physically heal, probably like most children, quite quickly. I’m sorry about your Mum, I can sympathise from experience 🌻.

Good evening Kitcheners. I thank you all for your kind words regarding dgs2. He is very sore and not eating much at all but that will improve over time. I visited him today and he was pleased to see Gamma then gave me a row for blocking his view of the tv. 😂
I had an appointment at the opticians this morning and she is referring me to have cataract surgery on my right eye. I'm not surprised because I knew my vision in that eye had deteriorated. I'm glad it isn't anything more serious. Then I visited mum this afternoon who was very confused and struggling with words. So a difficult Sunday with one thing and another. Hello kitchen people.
Some of you have had a joyous day and others a more difficult time. Hopefully things will improve.
I had a lovely Study Day in Oxford. The theme was the creation and development of the V&A - one of my favourite places. The tutor was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We had four lectures, a delicious lunch and tea and coffee breaks. I didn’t need much dinner so I poured a glass of Madeira and had a bowl of cereal!
I’m snuggled up in bed now and looking forward to reading a bit more of Pepys Diaries. Sleep tight.

Evening all.
I am already home from the party and ensconced in bed.
It was lovely to be invited but my GD and I knew hardly anyone plus it was very crowded and very noisy .
We stayed nearly two hours but were happy to leave.
I was very stressed as my GS left today after spending seven and a half weeks with me.
His brother left 10 days ago.
It has been hard work and stressful for us all and I am pleased that is over but worried about him as we have realised how disturbed he is over his family situation and his autism is very worrying.
He really does seem 15 going on 60 in his actions and conversation.
We must wait and see how the next weeks pan out.

Thank you for the comments re our baby cats. The two GC and DD arrived today and the kittens were surprisingly compliant about being loved by small children. I was very happy to see that the children were in fact very gentle with them. The girl kitten is worrying me a bit as she’s a reluctant eater. She seems to get distracted very easily and is also fussy about what she eats. She’s rejected the fancy stuff and likes Felix fish flavours. :tuna breath: Any noise or disturbance anywhere and she’s off, so I’ve been hand feeding her.

Today we went to a nearby farm shop for coffee and bought a few of the beautiful things they sell. Then to M&S for some essentials and a different pet shop for tempting titbits for Madam. She’s already rejected them and Young Master has hoovered it up instead.

Ds continues to tick along after his treatment. He says he feels very tired. I guess when you have all this stuff going in your body it takes some time to recover. It’s going to be a hard few months.

It was sunny for most of the day, the threatened rain didn’t appear so that was good, although it was only a heady 6deg. At least there’s a bit of warmth in the sun now. I shall need to get out into the garden soon and do some more work.

Thank you all for your good wishes. We woke on the outskirts of Gloucester this morning to see snow. Quite exciting until an hour later it was grey slush as the rain commenced. After an excellent breakfast we enjoyed a long wander round the Cathedral, a warming drink in their cafe followed before heading for an antique centre. Seemed the right place for a couple of antiques. Stopped at the farm shop services on the M5. Oh dear. Bought the most fabulous bread and some to die for cake. Have done not a thing other than eat since we’ve been home. No snow here, a great disappointment to our grandson who had managed some sledging on the edge of the Cotswolds this morning. In his view it snows - everywhere! .

Goodness what a lot to deal with soop. A huge hope you two are fighting fit again very soon. Mr C has to take blood thinners forever, thankfully not one needing regular blood tests. He must also carry a card. We’ve put the details in the emergency section of his phone and there’s a duplicate card in the car - what my Dad would call belt, braces and a piece of string.

Good to hear you’ve been out jax. These firsts are very special. Hope your husbands cough eases yia. Not fun for either of you. Good to see you baggs. Think of you often.

Mr J was handbag carrier today we met friends for lunch, my first trip out (apart from physio) since the 14th, it was better than good.

Another cold, wet day here, we were very late to bed so it wasn’t difficult to decide on a lazy day indoors today. I’m enjoying sorting through the old odds and ends. I came across an old receipt for a meal of fish and chips in Tarbert Soop. It was £14 for two meals and drinks! Bit different nowadays I expect, though I’m sure the food will be just delicious.

Well the GC have been collected, order is restored (apart from the playroom) DH is in the kitchen, preparing the chicken for dinner (I have done the veggies and starter)

About to have a chilled glass of white wine, I think it will be an early night.

Pleased your GS is sorted and home Grandmabatty our GS had similar two years ago, he was rushed in on Boxing Day operated on immediately and home within 16 hours. He was 13 1/2 at the time and sooo embarrassed.
