Just popping in to say I’m taking a break from this thread and the GM one for a while. I love both - they bookend my day - but hospital treatments for Himself have been ramped up and my attention and focus will be elsewhere for a while. We’ve been there today and will be there every week now. Hopefully this different iv chemo will work its magic.

I’m not totally disappearing. Other threads are not my ‘regulars’ though and I hope just to dip in and out occasionally.

So I’m signing out for now. Enjoy the comfort and camaraderie in this lovely new kitchen. Take good care of yourselves .

dustyangel I must just say how much your good news lifted my spirits. Worrying is draining. I’m glad for you to be so reassured.

I have posted about the hotel before Jax we were last there in autumn 2022. We missed last year as I had a lot of hospital appointments.

We heard a short time ago that a dear friend of ours in the village has died. The funeral is next Tuesday.

Impromptu DIY dusty they deserved a drink.
We’re a bit tied at home this week, my daughter is having high value items delivered here while she works, hopefully tomorrow none are due and we can get out.
Tesco delivered earlier and I collected some leggings at M&S, picking up tulips and daffodils whilst I was there. It’s been a sunny day, the last for a while, birds have been delightfully singing.

I have just made a lemon drizzle cake so thought I would pop in and say hello.

soop What a lovely new, welcoming kitchen you have managed to create again. All the food looks so good and smells wonderful. The only thing I have to contribute is some Tunnocks Caramel Wafers. I should be grateful if someone would take them off my hands as I think it’s the only way that I’ll beat my addiction. (I won’t be grateful, but I should be.
Both my visitors have gone home for a while. They decided last night during The Chase to put together a television table we’d just bought. SiL muttered had a little chunter about it being his favourite programme but carried on regardless and I’m certainly sure it wasn’t the best occupation for DGS with a broken arm, although they told him at the hospital to use it normally.

I’ve been exploring the world of Uber cars. It’s meant that while the “boys” were here they could enjoy a drink with our meals out in the evening without one of them missing out. The cars come in all shapes and sizes and some of them have been extremely high to clamber into but I’ve stretched and managed.

Special thoughts are going to Baggs , Kalu and Urms.

Good afternoon kitcheners. Baggs those are beautiful and intricate works of art. I'm impressed(geddit?) With your ironing prowess. I have an ironing which has been glaring at me with disdain for a week. Blossoming I wonder if it's the same lighthouse hotel my friend usually books? Is it in the north of England or south of Scotland perchance?
My art class started up again today and initially I was thrilled to see my friend there. However the green god of jealousy appeared because her work is stunning and mine isn't. 😞 I have ordered some accessories which may help with the fine detail my work lacks. And I am fighting against the jealousy.
Tonight I'll be eating steak Ragu with duchesse potatoes. I'm feeling the cold this afternoon because the art room was cool, so I shall away and don't a large pink hoodie. I hope all are well and Soop continues to care for Mr Soop. Grannmarie I hope you had a pleasant evening babysitting. Yiayia that's a very exciting proposition for you! From the remaining 14 or so boxes of delights that I brought home from BTDD's at SiL's request, I pulled out a little tin on which it said "Keep calm and carry on gardening". I tipped out a tangle of tiny treasures that DD had crocheted in sewing thread (you read sewing thread right). Tasters below in the pics. There are lots more.

The third pic shows a little piece of beach-combed pottery for which DD has crocheted a tiny basket she then decorated with tiny beads. The blue glass star is something I found recently and is there to show off the beading colours, and to catch the light.

The tiny things are so amazing that I became a little overwhelmed. I made myself do some ironing as therapy. It is still too soggy to be doing much on the garden myself.

This will give me an incentive to get fitter . I must watch my eating carefully for the next 10 weeks as I don’t want to be having the collywobbles again! The food at the hotel is fabulous and I intend to enjoy it.

It’s such a beautiful place, the staff are lovely and very helpful and we can just relax and forget about everything for a while.

I am everso slightly overwhelmed to discover a host of lovely newcomers to our Kitchen. You are all most welcome.

After I've dealt with Mr Soop's scalp and delivered parcels that we 've cared for in our pal's absence, I shall fully catch up with you lovely lot. Until later.

Good afternoon virtual friends, I am off to our middle sons in a while, he and my gorgeous daughter in law are off to Amsterdam for her belated 40th Birthday treat (Covid got in the way)

I am keeping an eye on teenage GS’s, staying at their house tonight (which means I will wake up with a view of the sea one way, and their beautiful garden the other, in a glorious Queen sized bed all to myself. (Might not want to return home, I am sure DH would welcome the peace and quiet 🤣)

After school tomorrow I will bring them back here, and we will go out to their favourite Indian restaurant tomorrow, probably with DD and her boys.

Thankyou Soop yet again the kitchen looks and smells lovely- all that wonderful food, and the cakes, oh my word! I'm not going to linger as I'll be tempted to eat what I'm trying to avoid, 'trying' being the operative word .

Talking of food we’ve just been to a ‘VIP’ tasting at a pub who have new owners and are re opening the kitchen tomorrow, it was really tasty. Tips I’ve picked up: burgers with thousand island dressing are yum, cranberry mixed with sweet chilli is great for dipping.
So, no cooking, great, although JrJ is snacking on nuts as I speak!
Your grandson has an exclusive audience Grannmarie he’ll love that.
I’m sure he was disappointed Yia I hope he passes next time, much excitement that your flat might be famous, you must let us know.

I've got some carrot sticks, cherry tomatoes and apples to share. They are my favourite foods. I hate cakes, biscuits, chocolates, pastries! Do you think if I say it often enough I'll believe it?!!

CanadianGran... I've probably misled you. It was the normal 5 egg whites and 10 oz of castor sugar and the filling was double cream with marmalade swirled through and mandarin orange segments ( from a tin).

Hello again, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. Thank you, Grandmabatty, the journey was tricky but made it here OK. DGD'S nose was a bit out of joint at being too young for the concert at the Hydro, so we're making popcorn after dinner, watching Traitors and playing with Grandpup.
Lovely to see new faces in the kitchen, welcome Sweetcakes, hello again to those we haven't seen for a wee while. This is a special place to visit.
