Will be thinking of you both, Urms, and hoping someone is looking after you.

Sunny morning with a forecast of sunshine all day; I have an empty and ought to do something positive with the day but am not sure what it might be though I must pick some snowdrops as the previous owner of this house was a talented gardener and there are lots of patches of different types of snowdrop just at present. Someone to.d me yesterday that there are over 150 different types - can that possibly be true?

NannyJan53 Thu 01-Feb-24 09:31:12

Wishing you and himself all the best Urms I will be thinking of you both flowers

You’ll still be in our thoughts Urmstongran

Good morning all.
Busy couple of days ahead, I am off to London after dropping Rosie at the kennels, and picking up DGS4 from school and looking after him overnight as SIL is in France and D working on a play in Manchester. I’ll pick up DGS5 (in Reception) too and take them back to the house to play and have tea together.
Tomorrow, after school drop off I’m hoping to have coffee with D3 who works from home on a Friday.
Oh and as well as the rest, walk D’s dog who has had to stay at home because his dog sitter is away!
Then drive home before heading up to Birmingham on Saturday to do an overnight for D1 and family.
On Sunday, early start, drive home, drop car at MK station (fingers crossed the trains are back to normal after Saturdays strike) and back to London for a family lunch-if I am in time- and then a puppet play near Great Ormond Street I the afternoon.
It’s a shame all of these have come together and the train strikes complicate the whole thing.
I’ll be glad to be home, pick up Rosie on Monday morning and probably go back to bed.
Wishing you all a troublefree day.

Best wishes anyone celebrating, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed.

Morning from South Lanarkshire. I’m not firing on all cylinders this morning thanks to an unusually poor night’s sleep and I have a full day ahead. Audiology this morning for a much needed maintenance appointment. Unfortunately this was rearranged just yesterday and I had to change the time of an equally much needed hair appointment. I am like the wild woman of the west at the moment and couldn’t delay it especially as I’m joining my best pal’s family this evening for their regular family meet up which they still so kindly include me in.

Really nice lunch yesterday with DGD1 who seems to be much happier in her university course this year, thank goodness.

Sorry you’re missing out on Dollie’s assembly Marydoll, you’ll have been looking forward to it.

I had an interesting chat with a chap on the train into Glasgow yesterday. He is a site manager and had worked extensively in Dubai and Saudi Arabia. We had a lively discussion on Middle Eastern politics!

Thinking of all of us who need it and wishing everyone a good day,

EkwaNimitee Thu 01-Feb-24 08:44:23

Best wishes and thoughts to you and your DH for the coming weeks, Urmston.

EkwaNimitee Thu 01-Feb-24 08:42:56

Good Morning Mick and everyone from bright Carlisle where it looks like it will be a sunny day. Unlike yesterday which turned out horrendous, an increasingly windy morning turned into a gale with lashing rain after lunch. I got on with my admin and did my best to ignore it.
I shall take advantage of the decent weather and pay a visit to the garden centre and nearby local butcher/delicatessen. Hopefully, I will stock up on pheasant as it is the end of the shooting season now. Plus I need some 'proper' marmalade, I don't care for the jelly-like versions from the supermarket. Surely it should only contain fruit, sugar and water?

Have a good day everyone!

Urmstongran Thu 01-Feb-24 08:39:36

Good morning everyone. I have decided to take an extended break from this thread and Soops. Bi-weekly treatment appointments at the hospital between now and July will consume my thoughts and time.

Here’s Matt.

Morning from a cool start, frost on the cars, in S Hampshire. Happy Birthday MissOops 🎂.
We had a last minute invitation yesterday to a tasting session at a newly opening pub near us, so spent a pleasant hour sampling various very tasty morsels. No cooking for me, great!
Today Tesco will deliver later and I too have a collection at the M&S food hall. I’ll get out for a walk, I love seeing the emerging bulbs and green shoots, but wary as the February forecast looks cold.

Good morning Mick and all from a brightening northwest coast.
A busy but nice day yesterday, the recital was good, an unusual combination of saxophone and harp. My friend and I then went on to coffee.
sausage roll and talked for two hours in our favourite cafe.

Son stayed and fixed outside light and a few other jobs. In the evening I went to a ballet but didn’t particularly enjoy it as I was on row T and hate not being near the stage. It was a sell out and all that was left. I left in the interval. The wind was butter yesterday.

Today house stuff and this afternoon an opticians appointment for contact lenses.
Thoughts as always to Urms Kalu and all with troubles 🌺

Bonnybanko Thu 01-Feb-24 08:09:59

Good morning all I’m starting to see the sunrise, it’s beautiful but very cold here on the east coast of Fife. I’m afraid it’s going to be a Netflix binge day.

Keep safe and cosy

Taichinan Thu 01-Feb-24 08:09:14

Good morning all from the Angus coast, pink tinted sky and all.
I just finished my post a moment ago, my hand was nowhere near the screen, and I watched it disappear!! My post, not my hand. Grrr.
Anyway, happy birthday to MissOops and sorry you're so unwell Marydoll - but enjoy having *Dolly with you for breakfast.
It's Thursday, so it's Tai chi and shopping today for me - and I've just remembered I haven't prepared the monthly sheet, so will have to cut this short and get it done.
Enjoy your busy days everyone - 🤞that yesterday saw the last of the winter's storms. Yesterday's was a corker here - although far worse further north and west.

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 01-Feb-24 08:06:23

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
After spending yesterday on the sofa with a book hopefully today will be livelier! OH and I have booked lunch at our favourite place and then we’ll see.
I have a pile of ironing to do - at least OH does his own,
Have a good day. I’m specially thinking of Urms and MaryD.

Grandmachrisy47

*Alygran*, Saltburn is lovely it’s such a pity about the Cliff Lift.
Hope you all have the best day possible and that February is kinder to all.

The Cliff lift? What’s wrong with it? It doesn’t usually run in the winter and we rarely use it but I think it will be back in the springtime. They did lots of work on it last year.

Kalu Thu 01-Feb-24 08:04:40

Good morning from Glasgow. Still dark outside but calm and as yet, no sign of rain or high winds. 🤞

Our electrician is coming again, this time to change the timer for down lights at the side of the house where it is darkest at night. The fridge and cupboards need filling again so a trip to Waitrose will be my outing today. I took full advantage of their Whispering Angel rose deal recently so no need to fill up the rack for a good while, a glass of which I enjoy, early evening as the day winds down.

Best wishes to all for a good day and a hopefully, a less anxious day for those with ongoing worries and struggles.

Grandmabatty Thu 01-Feb-24 08:04:39

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 5° and a lovely clear sky. Let's hope it lasts. Marydoll I am sorry that you are so unwell and missing family time. Susan that sounds like you had a lovely time at strictly. I'm a bit envious as none of my family nor friends would go.
Yesterday I enjoyed pottering about inside. The weather was so awful here and there was localises flooding so I didn't go to the hospital but contented myself at home. I cleared out a lot of dishes from the dining room and they're bagged up ready for the charity shop. Tesco brought me my favourite bread- raisin and cashew- which I have occasionally as a treat.
Today my art class begins again too. I'm very much looking forward to it. I have my pastels, special card and a brand new sketch book all ready. Have a good day all
