But how long do you keep going back to check for new posts on threads that you previously posted on, Doodledog?
What I love about notifications telling me that someone has replied to one of my posts , on sites that use them, is that I have had really helpful replies to some issue that I had mentioned months earlier, long after I have stopped checking the relevant thread(s).
I suppose I am influenced by the fact that those particular sites were really nice and friendy, and so were all the replies. Gransnet still has a friendly side but is becoming increasingly snippy too, so on reflexion, I suppose I can see how it might not be quite as good a thing to have on here - it wouldnt be such a good thing to be alerted to a belated post if it turns out to be unpleasant or from a spammer!
Surely it's only "Snippy" on the N & P threads. And I think you'll find that the people who are quite forceful on those are usually kind and helpful on the other forums.
Most are, I agree, but unless I am imagining it, there seems to be an increasing number of posts that are much more like those on Mumsnet, where some posters don't mince their words (to put it politely), whatever the topic.
