Palateless Dentures

Do you mean the denture where it is a light metal frame shaped like a horseshoe and a tiny band across the roof of the mouth. I had this and it was wonderful. It does need teeth at either end to clip onto.
My dentist described it as a piece of art.

For this plate you have to have All your teeth removed.

I have only one implant - no pain, just perfect, as easy to clean as a "real" tooth.
I'd definitely have implants if I could afford it.

Same as NitWitt have had a metal denture with several teeth on it. More expensive but much better. I have been able to have an extra tooth added as well.

This was probably what my dentist was describing. Sounds a good idea if needed in the future.

Ps, It's an upper plate and I've never needed glue to keep it in.

I've had a metal plate for years which has a space in the middle.
I had tried a normal plastic plate before and had the same difficulties as you. I soon got used to the metal one and would recommend considering that.

Thank you all! I am going to make enquiries and an appointment with our local cosmetic dental clinic who offer a free initial assessment. I will consider implants for sure though cost may be a problem for me. Having said that, I expect any acceptable solution is likely to be expensive. I worry about the pain of having implants too - is it bearable?
The Valplast dentures are exactly what I would like but I need to find out more as the tooth on one side of each gap is a crown with a natural tooth on the other.
I will read through the posts again and book an appointment for advice.

Not quite the same subject but does anyone have experience of celec crowns?

My dental technician cut away the palate at the top for me because it used to make me heave and I just could not stand them in. They are not entirely palateless, but its minimal, and I do have to use Fixodent Plus just to be on the safe side. Its working well so far.

I’ve no experience of dentures, but in conversation with my dentist, she mentioned that substitute teeth could be attached to. Titanium band rather than a plastic plate.
I haven’t had need to investigate, yet!

Valplast are one of the leading providers, I’m considering them Starof1972 because of similar issues.

Are you thinking of a bridge when the false teeth attach to the next tooth with a wire?

If palateless dentures are a thing I will definitely be interested in them😺

I was going to suggest implants.
I can't think what a palateless denture would attach to.

I have nothing to offer here unfortunately but I do think someone will come along shortly.

Are implants out of question?
