Good Morning Monday 26th February 2024

Thank you for the picture hollysteers.

I had daffodils planted in the churchyard at Grasmere in memory of my dad.We would normally go up at Easter to see them but aren’t going up until later in the year so I really appreciate your photo.

Late to the party because I had to drive DD to nearest Park and Ride so that she could be in Bristol for 8.00 am. This hideously early start was too much and I went back to bed for a couple of hours. I had forgotten how many people are up and about before 7.00 am and am glad I am rarely amongst them.

Empty day ahead so more reading and tidying. Hope everyone has recovered from the demands of the weekend and that the rain leaves us alone.

Shopping later to refresh the larder , but not the freezer ! I had a mad batch cooking session recently and it’s jammed !
I ran out of bananas for my porridge this morning and used some I had frozen …. This is not to be recommended ! It tasted ghastly, thrown the rest in the food recycling !

Daffodils in Grasmere

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
Nice break yesterday on day trip to the Lakes. Sunny too.
Living in a flat part of the country, I’m always thrilled to be in hilly country, so noble.

First stop was Grasmere and I paid homage at Wordsworth’s grave, daffodils aptly left on it. Inside the church, in the visitors book, a Russian from St.Petersburg had written “God give us peace!” which I found moving.
I did think 60p for a wee in the town was a bit much😁

Good morning my friends it’s a beautiful sunrise here on the east coast of Fife lots of cloud expected says Alexa.
I’ve a full afternoon I’m off with my carer to buy paper for my printer but must go to the bank and visit my sister in law who’s in a nursing home with dementia poor thing doesn’t recognise me anymore.

Yesterday I finished my book, Ash I do believe you know the author Stephanie Austin it was a nice easy read for inbetween some of the more serious stuff I read I will pass it on to my hairdresser when I next see her.
Well the washing as just finished so I'll get that on the line while its dry outside.

Good morning from a bright NE after overnight rain.
I was thrilled that DD and SIL were able 5o visit yesterday and they took me out for lunch. We had a lovely chatty couple of hours before they went off to the Rick Wakeman concert.
SIL had delayed his return to the UK twice but did not say why, yesterday he told me that he had been hospitalised with food poisoning after a restaurant meal. DD was fine, she is a vegetarian, they think the culprit was chicken. Sickness was so severe he damaged his oesophagus.
DD is on the train back to Brussels this morning, a working day for her on her computer.
Quiet day today with light housework.

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey, frosty Carlisle where there is ice in the bird bath.
Yesterday morning the frost soon lifted and I was out in the garden planting some of the previous day's purchases.
The afternoon visit to the hospital was better than I expected...plenty of car parking available presumably because there were few outpatient appointments. I was therefore early for my appointment, went down for it and was out before my due time! No other patients visible.
Today, I should be out shortly to order a new mattress but I'm hoping the car will defrost itself first. After that, it will be home to carry on with laundry and the regular housework necessities.

Good morning from a dull but dry Suffolk. Yesterday was another glorious day and a load of towels dried outside. Although I do,weather dependent,put washing outside on Sundays,I’m always reminded of how my mother disapproved of this. She wasn’t particularly religious, perhaps it was a northern thing.

Apart from a remote training morning,there is nothing else I have to do today so I fancy an afternoon of reading and pottering in the garden if it remains dry. Hope all enjoy whatever today holds and those who are unwell or with worries find some solace.

Good morning from a cold, windy S Hants. The grandchildren went home yesterday lunchtime, their Mum was hoarse and tired from her girls break away.
Volunteer phone today, washing is on, not much else really, I’m at the grumpy stage of knee recovery, MrJ will go to quiz tonight.

Good morning from a cold, frosty but sunny Sefton. There is a very gentle breeze.A pottering day yesterday. The sunshine tempted me out into the garden but that didn't last as there was a very sharp wind. Singing group this morning followed by a bit of a celebratory buffet lunch as the group has been up & running for just on 2 years. A lovely start to the week. The sun may lure me out into the garden again this afternoon. Short harp bursts of tidying in between the rainy days will get it done eventually.

Good morning all. Another frosty one on the Angus coast, but there's more cloud around today. Thank you for your comments about my view yesterday - unfortunately blue skies like that are more prevalent in the winter here! Summer can be quite disappointing by comparison!
Sorry to see you're still in hospital Mizuna - you're a stoical lady. I hope your consultant visits allow you to 'escape' today, and of course that you are feeling much better 🤞
I had a lovely brunch in Perth yesterday with DD et al. DGD3's boyfriend is a lovely young man and gets on so well with all the family (DD and I have all our fingers and toes crossed that he will be The One 😉). On the way home I gave myself a treat (another one!) and stopped off at a privately owned garden centre. It's the best for miles around in every way - they grow all their own plants, and also have the most beautifully arranged gift and clothes shop which is so pleasing to my eye and offers so many temptations that I usually end up buying nothing! It's paradise at Christmas time.
The day went downhill a bit after that as I was caught in nose-to-tail traffic at roadworks on the outskirts of Dundee for 30 minutes. I just had to grin and bear it though as the only other route home abounds in diversions caused by bridges which were either damaged or destroyed in storm Betina back in November. All my favourite country routes are no-goes and look to remain that way for a long time yet.
Anyway, I did get home eventually, had a good night's sleep last night (red letter day!) and am all set to go now on another day. The man-with-the-dishwasher may or may not turn up to finish plumbing it in, and then this afternoon there's a tai chi committee meeting.

Good morning all, doesn't Monday seem to come 'round so quickly nowadays, lots to do in the garden so fingers crossed for kind weather. Spent the most lovely day in Bristol (you are so lucky GrandMattieto live in such a friendly city). Enjoyed a very cobble-y walk all around the harbour. I'm now enamoured with the thought of living in a houseboat, so romantic!

Good morning from Glasgow. 0deg. with a heavy frost but a beautiful crimson sky and the forecast is sunshine all day.

A few phone calls to make, one being hopefully finding a reliable plumber. The upstairs shower tray is leaking for a start plus a few other small problems.
DD1 and Millie dog arrived for a visit yesterday. I had forgotten the girls were going to a concert which, in an effort to be at the front row had them waiting for hours in the freezing cold a later message to tell us the concert was amazing. Rather DD than me trying to get GD2 up and ready for school. A late night on a school night….I kept my lips sealed.

Disappointing you didn’t get home yesterday Mizuna but the medical care you will have today will have been worth it. Hopefully you will be released later today.
Enjoy your empty this morning Susan. The meaning of an empty here meant parents had gone out for the evening, an opportunity to invite friends round for a night of unsupervised adult intervention - party time. 😄

Good morning all . It’s breezy but not raining . The wind whistled through the windows all night. Sounded like someone singing at times. 🎶. I like the sound of the wind when I’m cosy in bed.

Chimes group this morning and Music and memories this afternoon. I might skip the M and M, as I feel unfair if Dh doesn’t have use of the car all day. We’ll see.

We had a lovely afternoon with DD and little DGD. She makes up some great games and runs rings around the rest of us.🥰.
It’s so amazing to see how the little ones develop and become so clever.

GG have a relaxing time at the Spa. I wonder if it’s the one beginning with G. 🤔.

Mizuna I hope your appointments happen today. Everything is so slow when you’re in hospital. It’s certainly a waiting game.

We had a lovely chatty meal with our friends yesterday, something we’ll definitely do again, the food was good in the restaurant which opened a few months ago.

Charity shop today and a walk later if the weather holds.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. A bright but cold start in South Yorkshire this morning. I did a lot of work on my rockery wall yesterday afternoon - cleared grass and moss and made space for some new plants so a visit to the garden centre is called for, but not today. I had two robins keeping me company, which was lovely! Snakeshead fritillaries are appearing above ground - my favourite of all the rockery plants and I always look forward to them. Ironing this morning and then I have a hairdressing appointment this afternoon.

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s dry and cloudy.
Off to host the parent group at Richmond this morning.. I may get chance for a short walk afterwards.
I need a few groceries then home to the usual knitting and reading. If the dry weather continues I might get into the garden soon.

Apart from the usual dog walk and housework there’s nothing planned today. I will continue with my crocheting and enjoy listening to a podcast or audiobook later.
