The Wonderful World of Sleep & Dreams

Just wondered if people would like to share their sleep experiences and the dreams they have? I have a recurring dream of being in the house I grew up in and sneaking around in the garden, which was the perfect place for hide and seek! I regularly have dreams of being chased or where I know people are out to "get" me. I do have nice dreams as well, especially where my grandma is still alive and I'm watching her, happy she's still around.
I'd post last night's dream, but it's really not very nice! Hopefully tonight's will be better.

I'd love to know what other people dream about....

How very selfish!! I hope you woke them up and gave them back their daughter! 🤣

I was woken in the night by my husband shouting ‘look out’ and pulling me over to his side of the bed. I woke him and he said there’d been a fridge falling on me. I said he’d really scared me and his response was ‘well I saved you didn’t I?’

grin
If it had hit you, I suppose you'd be knocked out "cold".

I wish my Fitbit would work for my sleep but it suddenly stopped working which is very frustrating.

I have had at least 2”significant dreams …I was going through a stressful time …Splitting up with X ,selling family home and bought a flat .
First”Dream”I woke up to see a Pirate standing at the bottom of My bed almost side on holding his chin as though thinking with a smile on his face …I was alone that night and although nervous closed My eyes(I could have screamed ) and counted then opened My eyes and he had gone ….The second time not long after My newish Boyfriend stayed and I woke up with an Old lady (I was 50ish) bending over Me with a warm smile …I’ve often felt I have the “power” to see spirits but I’m quite “Ready”yet 🙂🩷

My Mum had the most vivid dreams all her life and I am the same.

Mum and I used to laugh about one of her dreams - she went on a coach trip to Wales to see Tom Jones. He appeared on stage in all white sequinned clothes and there were bright lights above him. He disappeared into the lights and then poor Mum realised she was alone. She looked and looked for people from her coach but couldn’t find any and woke herself up crying. She said it was so real.

I dream I have flushed my baby down the loo, I have lost a black sock, I am running down a hill with Father Ted, daft things really.

Yes, naked in public, or desperately needing to pee are common for me.

I'm just glad I wake up in time from the pee ones.

Oh I had one of those dreams this morning and did wake up needing the loo.

I sometimes have simple bad dreams e.g. teeth falling out or being half dressed/naked but more often I have nightmares.

Nightmares cause problems for DH as well because my sleep paralysis fails. It's not so bad for him when I simply sleep walk or scream like a demented banshee but sometimes I'm fighting for my life and then it's far more dangerous I have been known to hit him, kick him and bite him. Mind you he's not much better. Last week I woke up as he wrapped his arm around my neck in the neck breaking hold. He was in the army and was reliving an incident except it was my neck not someone intent on killing him. Fortunately, he hadn't got a proper hold so woke when I cried out.

One or two posters have mentioned dreams that involve a late parent.
I had one of those about four months after my dad died, when he appeared in my dreams for the first time since his death.
In that dream, I was in a little shop when he suddenly walked in. Everyone, even the shopkeeper was overjoyed to see him again. I knew even as it happened that it wasn't real, that he was still dead, but despite that it was absolutely wonderful because it really did feel like he was there.
I am in tears as I type this, but it was the happiest dream I have ever had.

Big hugs Oldnproud 🤗🤗

I wonder if anyone else has had prophetic dreams or kept a dream diary?

I have some notebooks with my dreams in from when I was younger. I keep thinking I'll read them and also start writing them down again. I've had lots of recurring dreams and I've also been to places where I'm certain I've either been before or been to in my dreams - weird, I know! My only prophetic dream that I've had is that many years ago I dreamt of a good friend of mine who had left school suddenly and didn't know what had happened. I dreamt that she'd had a baby and when I went round to see her, her Mum told me exactly that news and that she was now living with her boyfriend some miles away. This was, of course, in the days before mobile phones etc. We've since got back in touch and she is in a better place for so many reasons. And her gorgeous daughter is now in her 30s!

Thank you.

I would love nothing more than to dream of my daughter, but apart from one absolutely horrific and gruesome nightmare, I never have.

I live in hope.

I hope it happens for you and it is everything you'd hope it would be 🤗

I have very interesting dreams every night often including my old house and my best friend who is ignoring me at the moment. Its annoying as they vanish unfinished if I get up for the loo and I can't remember what they were about.

Thank you AGAA4.

I was dreaming last night that I was living in a house where there was a lot of woodchip wallpaper (nightmare of course!). On one wall there was a rectangular section where the wallpaper had mysteriously disappeared. For some unknown reason, I was using a small brush and acrylic paint to draw hundreds of tiny white squares with 6 dots in the middle, to match the wallpaper. When I finished, I had called my husband to admire my handiwork - then I woke up. I turned to my husband and told him about my dream, he was also just waking up. I cannot possibly type his reply. On reflection I suppose I shall have to get out more!
