Daily Mail - disgraceful article

The Daily Mail is a hate filled rag published only to fuel division and spite. The sooner it's banished to the annals of history, the better. Appalling waste of water resources!!

I read the article online. It must have taken some digging to obtain details of all the houses that Dave Myers bought and sold.

It is two faced to comment on Mr Myers' wealth when the DM proprietors are substantially wealthier. Harmsworth is a non dom - one of the reasons why the DM was opposed to remaining in the EU. Mr Myers was a UK resident and as such paid tax in the UK.

The article was a nasty, vicious piece of tabloid journalism. There was a time when the DM campaigned against racism, such as the Stephen Lawrence campaign although his mother is bringing a case against Associated Newspapers for breach of privacy.

I wouldn’t touch the Daily Mail with a 10 foot bargepole. Horrid, biased, nasty and opinionated rag.

And the daily Mail wrote ‘dead’ not that he ha passed away or died?
Another headline was that some daughters were angry because their father ‘only’ left them £50 each! Because they never visited him!
Why is it anyone’s business?

I can't get too upset over this. It's not as if the other aspects of his career hadn't already been fully reported. I seem to remember 'Latest wills' being a regular feature of the local paper, it was mildly interesting to see how much (or how little) a local figure had accumulated.
There are better reasons to dislike the Daily Mail. I could quote one instance where they tracked an ailing television actor down to his care home, snapped him when he hobbled across the road to buy a paper, and opened the article on him with THAT picture. And the article was a muck-raking one, though they couldn't find much muck to rake. THAT'S why I dislike the Daily Mail.

I agree with all of you. I stopped buying & reading the Daily Mail a few years ago. I don't know why it took me so long as my son was appalled that I read it but I enjoyed reading the Femail section with its interesting articles at the time, but after seeing the constant inaccuracies, the nasty opinionated hate-filled"journalism", the spite & hounding of people I decided enough is enough. It is the lowest of the low!

Why on earth is anyone still reading the Daily Fail?

Things like this is why I don't read newspapers. I wouldn't waste my money on them.

I have a friend who lost a child in a very sad and very tragic accident, it made the daily mail and the 1st sentence referred to the value of their house.

The article and tone caused her significant distress.

Does it matter where it was printed? It's just like rubber necking at an accident really. The only reason papers print private stuff is because so many people like all the gory details whether it's murder, a juice sex scandal and divorce or financial.

If people didn't read it the papers wouldn't print it.

Well, one of us has lost the plot - probably me, at my age. You refer to today's Daily Mail; I have scoured every page of said publication and cannot find any mention of DM. Inevitably most of the paper is about yesterday's Budget.

I think it does matter when it’s the main headline AreWeThereYet, yes. The Mail printed this story before any other papers and it was the main headline, the other papers then picked it up and did small features on it. They were wrong to do that (not all of them did) but the Mail was initially at fault. The poor man hadn’t even been buried.

But why does it matter which of them did it first Casdon ? Would it have been any better if The Times or The Telegraph of The Guardian did it? Not to me. I don't disagree that the Mail is more a comic than a newspaper but basically they do what all newspapers do, print what gets them readers.

The Times and the Guardian have their faults, but they print news, not the finer details of someone's personal finances before they are cold in the ground.

It wouldn’t have been any better on them whichever paper printed it first, because it’s that paper that does the research behind the article. In this case it probably would not have been a story at all if the Mail hadn’t done so - so they are culpable, as are the others which printed it to a lesser extent.

The Daily Mail is just another tabloid rag but one which tries hard to fool people into thinking it’s a serious source of news. It’s surprising how many people fall for this deception too! I personally have never read it.

Why would anyone be surprised at anything the Daily Mail printed? It's a rag. Why read it?
