Good Morning Thursday 7th March 2024

Good morning from Glasgow. Yet another wonderful sunny day. So many smiley people around as I visited M&S food hall yesterday to confirm how much the weather affects our mood.

Our friends arrived for lunch, DH was very much on form and we had such a lovely relaxed afternoon with them during a decadent lunch of champagne and M&S sandwiches. The day was perfect and almost felt like normal living again with our closest friends.

A sunny day in the garden and washing is already hanging out. DD1 and her Lab puppy Millie are popping in for coffee later. It’s so nice to have a dog padding around the house again.

Wishing all a pleasant day and as always, my thoughts are with those with worries and struggles.

Good morning from a glorious South Downs.

Spring is certainly advancing and the bottom layer in the woods and hedges are greening up nicely. I’ve noticed in the garden the shrubs are unfurling as well. The first to leaf is always the honeysuckle - it starts with little mouse-ear leaves in January which gradually get bigger as spring appears. Nesting is starting, and my resident rooks are still hanging around last years nest which looks worse for wear, but still not actively building yet - just a lot of chat.

I’ve finally made a start to rose pruning - 3 now completed - only another 10 or more to go - just hope I’ve enough rose food. I’ve decided to open up the water fall and little pond again - it was shut down because my terrier gets obsessed with frogs and spends 24/7 if you let him up to his stomach in water trying to catch them. I am hoping that he is too old now to bother. He has given up chasing squirrels and so forth. The waterfall is loved by the birds though.

Usual recital yesterday and the pianist played a modern piece which included her elbow!😳 She was very good.

Today I’m off on a day trip to RHS Bridgewater near Manchester and have a nice day for it. Not as fancy as flying DD who is spending time in Nice.

Good morning from a brightening sky in Suffolk. Yesterday’s sun was most welcome but a bit chilly in the evening.

I had a good keep fit class yesterday after which I offered a lift to someone whose regular lift giver was absent. She invited me in for coffee which would have morphed into lunch had I not had things to do in the afternoon.

I had never been to her house before which is an absolute treasure house of wonderful paintings and pottery. We had such a lovely time talking about how she had collected these and her travels. An unexpected pleasure which I so enjoyed.

Off to my stretch class this morning and then perhaps time in the garden and summerhouse which still needs that thorough cleaning.

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow.

Susan we too have an early start with the school run and World book day. DH is picking Dollie up and bringing her here, while I make her usual pancake breakfast.
An unexpected, but joyful start to the day.

I picked up my new car yesterday, oh I absolutely love it! I practised in the cinema car park in the car park , adjacent to the dealership.
I was doing well, until you know who interfered. I cannot get the braking right and he ended up having to drive the car home, because I lost all confidence. After forty five years of driving manual cars, it will take some adjusting.
My DIL sent me a screen shot of the definition of mansplaining. 🤣
Unfortunately I sent a text to DD , ranting about her father but mistakenly sent it to DH. 😚 poor man, he has a lot to put up with.
Divorce is imminent.😉

Today, we were supposed to be having lunch and then going to the theatre in town with DS2 and DIl, while DIL's sister looked after Babydoll. It was a Christmas present from them.
Sadly, DIL's sister was suddenly admitted to hospital and her parents are on a cruise, so DIL can't come.
We have totally changed our plans. DH will drive to their home, we will have an early Italian lunch with Babydoll , then we will get the train to Glasgow. A great adventure and a long day!

Cleaner coming today to bottom bedrooms and help change our bed. I can no longer change the king size quilt cover.
Out for a belated birthday lunch with my friend at a local Italian restaurant then Pilates this evening.
Hope those with worries, health problems and sorrow get some relief today.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 6° with lovely blue skies. Sunshine makes things cheerier, doesn't it?
Today I'll get some washing done and hung out. The first time I've been able to do it this year. Brook I'm going to follow you and get into the garden too. I had another bad night because of congestion then I woke with a nose bleed. I'll be glad once this virus is out of my system. I'll visit mum today. Yesterday I got a phone call from the hospital to say they think she has gallstones as her colour is a bit yellow. She's not in any pain but is refusing medication so there's not much they can do. Chorizo in tomato sauce with pasta for dinner. Have a good day all

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Dry but nothing special.

A friend has asked if she can raid Spring blossom from my garden for some Mother's Day table decorations at the community café. I said yes but the deer have had first dibs.

I had a checkup at the Dentist yesterday and said I'd make an appointment for 6 months time as usual. I was told I'd have to pay £50 as the NHS offers only once a year now.

A 6 mile walk with U3A today - with hills. I hope I can do it!

Good morning from a dry W Kent. A quiet morning, hopefully the gardener will turn up and then this afternoon we have to go to the hospital to discuss DH having his cataracts done. I was relieved to be told yesterday that I don’t have Rheumatoid arthritis after last weeks blood test. I have also done my first decent walk outside in six weeks and the large black boot is stored away in the garage.

Good morning from Malta where it is already sunny with a high expected of 18°C.

As it’s my long babysitting day I shall take the boys out after lunch. It’s quite a feat manhandling the double buggy but they love to be out and it would be a pity to waste such a lovely day.

Yesterday turned out fine even though they were on different schedules so we had two sittings at mealtimes instead of one!

Littlest one had his hair cut yesterday and had extremely strong feelings about it. I could hear him screaming from up the road, poor little chap. Brother hasn’t had his done yet as it is too traumatic to do both at once!

I was horrified to read harrigran’s sad news and send my condolences. Such a tragedy must be so difficult to come to terms with.

Off early to our monthly Memory Cafe as we have 2 rooms to get ready. We are trying a new system which will allow the Carers to come into a different room and get support from us and each other.

Good morning from a dry NE where it is not too cold.
Busy day yesterday. I was expecting a delivery of my medical supplies, timing was perfect as it came just as SIL arrived to take me shopping
In the afternoon I had an appointment with the optician. Eye test showed that sight had deteriorated considerably but photographs of retina showed that to be healthy.
SIL is still not well after his food poisoning bout the other week and his appetite is poor.

We’ve got the school run with first thing with DGD then I’ll be back home to carry on pottering in the garden. It’s School book day here too Susan but they’re having a read and relax day so DGD is excited to be going in wearing her PJs 🤣
We’ve had a notification that our electricity will be switched off from about 9am to 4pm today, they’re working on fixing something or other, so I’ll be filling up few flasks before then and hopefully it’ll last!
Sounds like slow but steady progress Jaxa little bit further and a little bit stronger every day

Morning all from a chilly 6 degrees S E Essex. I need to visit M & S Food Hall today for some weekend treats along with bits and bobs. I might wonder round Next Furniture Dept, I need inspiration for bedding, cushions etc, for the home.

Morning all from a currently grey but dry West Oxfordshire.
I have quite a list of things to do today, but will I get through it? Clean the house, ironing, type notes from last night’s meeting, de-flea cats, make caramel ice cream, make dinner..: we also have a plumber popping round today. The upstairs loo flush mechanism isn’t working properly.

Good morning from misty Colchester. Thanks for the 🌞 Pants. We did get some late yesterday and more is forecast today.
I bought a coverless duvet for our bed. DH remarked that it looked like a Granny quilt. Hilarious as we have been grandparents for 13 years, so I deserve "granny" things🤣. It's so comfy though.
Supermarket and laundry are today's tasks.

Good morning, nice and dry in s somerset

Glorious uplifting day yesterday, I took my 16 year old e bike out as I wanted to go further along lanes. A lot of tree blossom, the hanging young green from a very large willow, nature is waiting to spring out in all its glory. Part of the lane was very mudddy, gritty and wet and the verges have made the lane narrower, still ok for cars but I must say that I am glad I put tough tyres on that bike, they just shrug the thorns away. The apple trees in the orchards are still in tight bud. Horses rugged up and standing in muddy fields or stables.

Good sleep but horrible dream, getting lost,running, not getting to my destination. I have not had a dream like that for a long time. I will get over that today and do a day of bumbling, when I please myself

Increased my steps yesterday pacing about downstairs, I’ll carry on today and give the kitchen a quick clean.
I shall resume chef duties too, slow and steady.

Good morning from Cornwall where we're promised a sunny, breezy day. Started my routine to breathe the sea air yesterday. The wind was onshore and strong and it felt like my lungs had been turned inside out, no doubt good for me. The sea was sage green and violent. Amazing.

This afternoon I'll join in a course on Women of the Old Testament at a local church. Have missed the first two but apparently each is stand alone. Discussions have begun re Mother's Day, both sons trying to work around commitments. Looks like I'll be at the cinema with the youngest in the afternoon and Wetherspoons with the eldest in the evening. Suits me!
