She was also addicted to Baileys, especially on bonfire night, after which the firework noise was never a problem!

All of ours loved a bit of ham including the one we now have left. When I used to call out " ham" and they were upstairs they would charge down as fast as they could.

My little Ivy used like Maltesers. She’d chase them all over the floor licking off the chocolate and then bring you back a bit of soggy honeycomb.

Can’t remember about dates… I do know grapes are very bad. I’ve had kitties who love bananas 🍌, unsweetened applesauce 🍏, strawberries 🍓.

My current cat loves Greek Yogurt, tuna (daily!), and for some strange reason spaghetti/pasta and drawn to sauces which have garlic in them (that’s bad!) But after 6 yrs, we’re healthy. 🤞🏼

We had a cat which loved raw mushrooms. Another loved 'prawn cocktail' flavour crisps. Current one is a very fussy eater and will only eat Iams dried cat food or raw breast of chicken. If he is outside and I want him in, he responds to the clicking of scissors.

When my DD was small I made her a birthday cake in the shape of a boat and iced all over the cake board to look like the sea. I left it on the worktop to harden overnight. When I came down next day the cat had licked all the icing off the board! Luckily the cake itself was untouched.

One of my cats liked whatever we had. Nuts, raisins, banana. It would try something out if offered (it was always healthy food - never cakes, crisps, junk food, etc. ).

The date eater can also hear a Tunnock's caramel water being unwrapped at 50 paces. It's not the biscuit she wants but the paper rolled into a ball. Dh then flicks the ball, she retrieves it and brings it back for him to do it again. Only with caramel wafers though, nothing else will do. Do you think I've been (literally) sold a pup?

We had a cat who loved the silver paper from a two finger Kit Kat rolled into a ball and run and retrieve it, not sure he would have been happy these days as the wrapper has changed. Also had other ones who loved beetroot and crisps not together though😂

My daughters husky found her hidden supply of Easter eggs and ate them all ...including the silver foil. Poop scooping was pretty ... that's how she knew what he'd done !! We didn't know about dogs and choc but he was fine .

My cat is obsessed with Pukka Night Time tea. The minute I pour water onto the tea bag she is there yowling and I cant ever put the mug down because she will try to lap no matter how hot. When I have finished she rams her head right into the mug and licks in a frenzy, then pulls the tea bag out of the bin and rips it up. I have been known to wait until she is outside before I dare make my drink and then take it upstairs to hide in a room with a shut door.

When I was a child I had a cat that ate white bread with butter and homemade raspberry jam. She also stole Christmas cake and ate the whole slice, raisins, currents, sultanas the lot.

Another was fond of Danish blue cheese, my sister's Siamese ate potato crisps and in my adult life I have had a cat that ate figs. I like them too, and had to keep them in a tin with a tight fitting lid to keep her off them.

So no, your cat is fortunately not broken - she/ he may be slightly constipated and dealing with it sensibly by eating dates.

And we had two, rescue cats that had been badly treated before we got them, that we had to wean off beer - the one sniffed glue too, and was all over our son when he came home from work - he's a DJ ,smelling of hash, although he did not smoke it himself, but his clothes picked up the scent. We had to be very careful to screw the lids back on glue!

I left a tray of fudge on the worktop, covered with clingfilm. When I got home, the tray was on the floor, the clingfilm off and the surface of the fudge well licked! All had to be binned.

Cats adore Valerian, its like Ecstasy to them and it is in night time teas for humans as it relaxes us. Once had a very dear cat who liked to finish off our baked bean plates and sauce - but only Heinz. I suspect he wouldn't like the modern version
