I think my cat may be broken........!

My Bengal cat is not a fruit eater but likes runner beans. I often sit at the dining table to prep my veg. She pesters me until I let her steal a bean to throw around before chewing on it.

Most cats are attracted to anything which smells and tastes sweet. Remember all the problems a few years ago with cats being poisoned by licking up spilled antifreeze that had a sweet taste?
Dates, KitKats, marmalade etc are probably very attractive to a cat with a strong sense of smell.

So there are a few fruit eaters amongst our feline friends, odd behaviour when you think they ate obligate carnivores. It didn't take much effort to catch and kill her date! Must try and get a video of her later on.

A friend's (female) dog ate a whole pack of contraceptive pills that were on a bedside table. She then got very excited and ran all around the house, jumping clean over the back of a sofa on the say.

Our British Short-hair loved dates, also Maltesers and crisps, he would force his head into your hands to get them off you.
Our present cat can hear a tub of butter and the cheese container being opened.
I adore cats.

One of my daughter’s cats likes to pull herbal tea bags out of their cardboard box and tear them open, leaving the worktop strewn with tea leaves. I think she rolls on them. DD should remember to put them away!

We once had a cat that liked to eat melon. 🍉 At the moment I’m am trying to stop my two kittens from eating my spider plant. The annoying thing is, one of the kittens is proving very difficult to feed and is refusing everything offered to her. The vet says she’s healthy and I need to be firm with her but it’s hard to see her not eating.

One of my Mum’s cats just love fruit cake. As soon as she smell it, up she’d come and demand a bit. On to the lap then up to the shoulder. A gentle paw reached out to hook her prize.

My dog years ago ate half a bar of exlax chocolate I never knew about chocolate not being good for dogs in those days so did nothing but she was fine

One cat of ours liked pieces of toast with marmalade on them.

I don't know whether chocolate is dangerous for cats but it certainly is for dogs. One of mine ate a whole bar of dark chocolate whilst we were out. She extracted the bar from a shopping bag, the paper bag and two wrappings. It was only because I saw the wrapping on the floor that I realised and phoned the vet who told us to bring her in immediately. My DH could feel her heart beat increase rapidly on the journey. Two shots of morphine and a night spent on a drip, plus a vet's bill of £130.00 later she was OK.

Cats will eat owt. (As they say in Yorkshire)

my son would come home from school and have fruit, neighbours cat would come in and wanted the strawberries and clementines, as a child our family dog would only eat cornflakes with milk in the morning and happily chew his way through a banana.

Years ago I used to take Brewers Yeast tablets. If I accidentally dropped one the cat would rush over and eat it. 😺

I was cat visiting while our DD was on honeymoon and made the mistake of leaving the leftover wedding cake in a cardboard box on the worktop!

Katek when we moved house we found dozens of rolled up balls of caramel wafer wrapping!
Also behind the sofa we found a pile of spat out cat antibiotic pills!!

So can I Katek!

Our first Siamese would have been in 7th heaven in Macdonald's, couldn't resist beef burger and chips! Current one tries to go for everything unsuitable, Christmas cake and pudding, lemon drizzle, biscuits, plants, washing up sponges... His pal has developed a craving for porridge!

The date eater can also hear a Tunnock's caramel water being unwrapped at 50 paces. It's not the biscuit she wants but the paper rolled into a ball. Dh then flicks the ball, she retrieves it and brings it back for him to do it again. Only with caramel wafers though, nothing else will do. Do you think I've been (literally) sold a pup?

Oh yes. Wrapping paper. A previous Maine Coon would always require crisp packets to be knotted for him so he could play with them.

Our Maine Coon Charley could hear the noise of the silver paper when breaking a Kit-Kat from the other end of the house. He’d appear out of nowhere and eat half an inch of the end piece with the thickest chocolate.

Our last cat had a penchant for brandy and coke, never touched a glass of coke on its own.

If DH put his brandy and coke on the occasional table the cat would be beside it waiting for us to get distracted then he would be lapping it up.
