I know this will sound sexist and I know it doesn't apply to everyone but your husband is right about boys. I think daughters are usually much more on the ball about family occasions and sons tend to get more involved with their wife's family. That's been my honest observation anyway.

I’d assume they are helping their children celebrate their mothers?
Do you ask them over for Easter or Christmas?

Family relationships all differ. I’d say be thankful to hear from them. Could you suggest a family lunch ?

My son will be visiting me tomorrow. Sometimes I'm invited to his home for lunch for mother's day but as I have my daughter and her family visiting, that won't happen this year.
I'm lucky in that he lives quite close by. For over 20 years he lived a 3 hour drive away.
I'm happy when I see my children but don't have a problem if I don't see them on mother's day, just so long as I get some form of contact, card, text, call. That sort of thing.
I can understand the OP feelings though.

A son is a son till he takes a wife ☺️ unfortunately for you, you are not the priority anymore, it is their wives and you are now extended family.

Sad, but true 💐

There is a thread all about Mother's Day. Lots of comments on there.

I have 3 sons all married with children . Am I being too sensitive. Every Mothers day they each send me flowers but I never see them. The same with Easter and to a lesser extent Christmas. My husband doesn't think its right but says is typical of boys!
