Good Morning Everyone,
Dark and wet outside here in brackley this morning.
A quiet day in today , with cycling on TV from midday, so will lunch early .
Yesterdays trip went OK , no road problems to hold up the bus , met up with some friends as the weather improves hopefully expand my travel on a Saturday if not on a day trip on a coach .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a damp East Yorkshire.

Such sad news Susan and on this poignant day . I’m sending my condolences 💐

My mother was often like that regarding gifts Marydoll now she’s no longer with us that aspect of Mothering Sunday is a release to me.

Hoping everyone has the best day they can.

Good morning Mick and all from cloudy Lancashire, currently 8°C and raining.

Nothing planned for today, we will see how it goes.

Happy Sunday 🌹

Susan how desperately sad. You are in my thoughts and prayers. 💐

Condolences Susan so sad.

hollysteers Sun 10-Mar-24 09:26:59

Good morning Mick and all from a wet northwest coast.
Hair coloured yesterday and then took my zonked iPad to town. It’s being sent away so hope it won’t be too long and can be fixed. I have so much on it I use regularly…

My wonky tummy is misbehaving again and I see the consultant tomorrow morning. Decisions will be made as to surgery.
Gardener was due today but as it’s raining, that’s that.
It was nice to come home yesterday to flowers, chocolates and card from flying daughter and hope you all have a good day🌺

Purplepixie Sun 10-Mar-24 09:25:51

Happy Mothering Sunday from a very wet and dark East Midlands. Love to you all.

Stilllearning, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa!

I seem to be saying that a lot these days. 😂

Taichinan Sun 10-Mar-24 09:09:29

Oh dear, these grey mornings don't make you want to jump out of bed, do they! But anyway, good morning from a grey, windy and cold Angus coast.
Susan what sad news 💐. I'm so sorry.
Today I'm off to the V&A in Dundee to have afternoon tea with DD, and really looking forward to it. Her DDs are both working today - student jobs in 'hospitality' - so she'll see them later. They came up here to see me last Tuesday bearing gifts and cards bless them, thanking me for being 'the best Nanny'.
And that's it really. Enjoy your well-deserved day of pampering, cosseting or whatever takes your fancy, with sunshine in your hearts x

Stilllearning Sun 10-Mar-24 09:02:35

Morning everyone from the cold windy west coast of Ayrshire, where I’ve had a very nice weekend, visited Dumfries House yesterday which was really lovely, fully furnished of it’s time with the largest collection of Chippendale furniture in Britain and several gorgeous chandeliers. Although like everyone else I can never see a chandelier without thinking about Del Boy and Rodney!

I am really sorry to read about your DD’s friend Susan

Marydoll I wrote a post on Friday which vanished and I’d no time to repost, holding you responsible for the evacuation of the theatre on Thursday afternoon😂!
As we huckled our friend with poor mobility down (and up) the back stairs, I said ‘I know who’s responsible for this drama’!

Wishing everyone a good Sunday, especially those for whom today can be challenging. X

Morning from a dull, but dry S Hants.
Life just isn’t fair is it Susan 🥀 my condolences to your daughter.
I tried reducing by diet WWM2 ended up on a statin.
We will be at my daughters for lunch, my son and his partner will join us, being together is the greatest gift.
MrJ will go out for meat draw later, too crowded for me.
May you all have a peaceful day.

I'm not up to posting this morning but wanted to pass on my condolences to Susan and her daughter at the loss of a dear friend

EkwaNimitee Sun 10-Mar-24 08:46:05

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle....except that it isn't a good morning-- dark, cold, windy and wet. Needless to say I will be staying firmly inside!
I went out for a drive yesterday morning, principally to stock up on supplies from the local grocer/butcher but also to get the weekend papers. I could also see the progress being made on our bypass, very little it seems to me. It showered on and off the rest of the day so no gardening.

Awful news. Susan, the poor family.

Have an enjoyable day if possible everyone, I hope someone gets sun somewhere!

GrannyGravy13 Sun 10-Mar-24 08:45:56

My condolences to you all Susan56 💐

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Dull and dreich yet again. At least there's no snow.

I shall take 2 buses to my DS's family for lunch. I haven't seen those DGC since January so we'll have lots to talk about. Tonight is community cinema.

So sorry to read your sad news Susan 😞

I am glad you are resting today Marydoll

Thinking of mothers everywhere today. Thanks LucyAnna for your poignant post.

Good morning from a wet Durham. A bad night’s sleep, awake way past 2am, then the bl**dy birds started up at 3!
Such sad news Susan56 💐
Lunch out with DD1 and family today, then I’ll pop into see DD2, who will have been to her outlaws.
Best wishes to all. X

Happy Mothering Sunday from a damp Suffolk, such a difference from yesterday. DH had a lovely day at Crufts yesterday which was a long day for both of us. I collected him from the coach drop off spot at 10.45pm having left him there at 5.55am.

DD2 sent a box of treats from Betty’s,a firm favourite from my northern roots and DD1 flowers. DS and family are coming for lunch plus puppy so a lively time guaranteed.

Always remember on this day the posies we got in church to give to our mums and feeling sorry for those ladies who had no children with them to go and collect one from the altar. As my mother had 4 posies I always gave mine to a special lady who was a family friend. I think now no one is left out.

Marydoll Sun 10-Mar-24 08:30:08

Susan, I meant to send my condolences. Such sad news. 💐

Marydoll Sun 10-Mar-24 08:28:38

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 6°C.
A Happy Mothering Sunday to all.

DH let me sleep on, as I had a restless night. My lovely man has brought me a cuppa and a hot water bottle for my painful joints. I shall lie and enjoy.
The PP and the curate were shocked at Mass last night, when I said I wasn't coming today. I was really struggling last night, so my Mother's day gift to myself is a restful day! 😉

I have mixed feelings about today's celebration and some unhappy memories. My mother was a very unhappy woman, who on one more than one occasion received her gifts with very bad grace.
However, my own lovely children will likely appear at some point, their company is all I desire.

Have a lovely day and those mothers, who have lost a child are especially in my thoughts and prayers. 💐

Mizuna Sun 10-Mar-24 08:26:45

That's so sad Susan. 🌹

GrannyGravy13 Sun 10-Mar-24 08:24:00

Morning all, I hope you all have a pleasant Mothering Sunday whatever you are doing and whoever you are with 💐

I have seen my DS’s and today DD will be here with her boys.

🙋‍♀️

RosesandLilac Sun 10-Mar-24 08:20:13

Good morning, ‘tis rainy and dull here in south Glos.
DD says she’s coming for the day, I haven’t seen her for several months so that’s lovely. I asked DH to arrange for a takeaway dinner from the pub but I’m not sure what they do vegetarian-wise so I will probably end up cooking anyway.
Nothing else planned.
Have a lovely day 🌹

Bonnybanko Sun 10-Mar-24 08:16:45

Good morning everyone from a cold and windy start to the day here on the east coast of Fife. To all those mothers hope you’re all being spoiled by your children like I’ve been unfortunately my family can5 be with me today, however I’ve received beautiful flowers and a fabulous bracelet.

Have a good day mums all around 💓💓💓

Susan56 Sun 10-Mar-24 08:14:56

Good morning from Shropshire where I can hear heavy rain against the windows.

Happy Mothering Sunday to all💐

We went to the hospice yesterday evening so DD could spend time with her friend.Sadly she died in the early hours of this morning.Even though we knew it would be soon we feel in shock.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Whitewavemark2 Sun 10-Mar-24 08:09:42

Good morning from the South Downs. Rain today so not a lot happening here.

DH is not best pleased as he has been nurturing 6 cabbage plants for early summer eating and he went up to put them back into the greenhouse last night (hardening off) and a mouse has eaten the lot! Oh dear. What with that and Tofu digging up the seedlings - life is very fraught at times.

I have to make the decision as to whether to take statins or not, after a health check showed my cholesterol to be higher than they like. I take no medication at all, but I have put on weight since my gall bladder removal - almost certainly because I’m eating food I couldn’t previously eat. So - do I try to reduce it by diet, exercise etc or take medication?. I have a week to think about it - I wonder if the nurse would play ball and go with the diet for a time?

Decision, decisions!

Enjoy your day one and all - I hope any offspring have remembered the day😄😄 and you are duly delighted. I received a card last Tuesday from one of them 😀.

Peace and harmony to all mothers who have lost their children.
