Good news that Catherine is being seen again since her operation with a lovely family photo taken last week for Mother’s Day. Yes it’s the DM.

Exactly and this is the reaction form GN about the formal pic. Remember?

Agree jaberwok and I doubt William will give in to the pressure

The sad thing is that this lovely photo was put out with the best of intentions but has unfortunately failed and just brought retribution down on Catherine's head. It won't happen again as from now on I expect all photos will be professional , formal and dull not carefee. If indeed there are any more photos. Why should they have to release the original and attract more hateful comments?

JenniferEccles Mon 11-Mar-24 17:15:39

It seems significant to me that ‘the team ‘ have said they won’t release the original picture, the one allegedly taken by William, a week or two ago.

lemsip Mon 11-Mar-24 17:13:13

she has 'gathered' her family closer by cropping the photo.

failing to realise it will be spotted by those into photography.

have done this myself with old photos

With hindsight it's a pity the Wales's issued a photo at all, then all this ridiculous trauma would have been avoided. I doubt very much that we will see any more happy family photos, just not worth the hassle, which will be our loss.

Can I give a illustration of how I feel photoshopping can be a complete lie. I love to get up early and take pictures of the sunrise from my nearby beach I never photoshop as I think the beauty is in itself often after I get home I ll see a sunrise photo on FB or a similar site even on the local news with brilliant deep red, scarlets, purples, oranges that just didn’t exist It’s a lie and it never fails to irritate me especially with all the comments of how marvellous it is, what a fantastic sunrise

I think you will find such a picture as you have seen will not be photo-shopped but has used enhanced lens filters on a quality digital camera, the actual photograph as seen by the camera through such a filter.

Kate has been seen accompanying William in a car leaving Windsor this afternoon. William went on to a ceremony but it’s not noon where Kate then went.

I hope it was to see her parents for some love and support.

Known not noon

The issue is that we’re treating this like any other family rather than essentially a major corporation - they’re not known as The Firm for nothing!

Nannapat1 Mon 11-Mar-24 15:48:06

A lovely photo. However this morning I've heard nothing but criticism that it was manipulated and that believing it to be so, 4 organisations have 'pulled' it. For goodness sake who doesn't edit their photos!

AmberSpyglass Mon 11-Mar-24 15:42:14

‘Public figure’ then. Either way, do you understand my point? The issue isn’t about a flattering photo or even this photo in particular, it’s about the standards that photo and news agencies have to adhere to.

Not sure they would be if for publication Callistemon21 - not beyond what is permitted.
Obviously personal may be edited (eg, my daughter had the clasp edited out of

Yes, of course.
It's a pity she felt the need to issue a photograph at all and can't just recuperate in peace.

Anniebach Mon 11-Mar-24 15:38:01

A celebrity! Explains much

NotSpaghetti Mon 11-Mar-24 15:36:04

Their team have said they won't release the original, apparently.

AmberSpyglass Mon 11-Mar-24 15:33:18

*go out

AmberSpyglass Mon 11-Mar-24 15:33:02

Anniebach It’s being presented as a single photograph that was taken on a specific date, when actually it looks like it’s a composite of images from at least one other date and possibly manipulated with AI. This in itself isn’t important - it’s just a PR exercise for a celebrity that backfired - but if AP etc let that go without recalling it, what’s the argument stopping them letting another picture that has been similarly edited but with much bigger ramifications?

NotSpaghetti Mon 11-Mar-24 15:32:55

What did the photograph of Catherine and her children imply

sazz1 Mon 11-Mar-24 15:23:26

I'm convinced several photos were put together to make this one. It really doesn't look at all
natural to me. Why it was done that way idk but the fact she's admitted editing it seems very dishonest of a royal family member

Mollygo Mon 11-Mar-24 15:20:08

AmberSpyglass
No they shouldn’t pass on pictures that represent or imply something that is not true, whatever the situation.

AmberSpyglass Mon 11-Mar-24 15:13:05

So should the AP and Reuters just pass off photoshopped images without question now? What if it was a photograph of a protest or a war zone? It doesn’t matter why it was done, it matters that it contravenes the standards of these particular organisations and so they couldn’t run or distribute them.

I immediately thought the photo was "wrong" when I saw it yesterday. The PoW must have very long arms. There is just something not right about the positioning of her hands. I think this goes further than a bit of amateur editing. If it was meant to dampen down media speculation about Catherine's health, it has done the opposite. This looks like an old photo of Catherine superimposed on a current photo of the children.
