The Fuss Over The Royal Family Photo

I would just like this to end for the sake of the Princess of Wales. I hope she doesn’t read the newspapers or listen to the news. I have said before I am neither a Republican nor a Royalist, but I do believe in fair play. One on line newspaper shows her in a car today with Prince William and immediately beneath is an article referring to her reply today, asking “Did she even write the message? Is she too ill?” It is not as if it is a slow news day.

I can be hope that the press has had their say and we can move on - but regrettably I am not holding my breathe,

If you were replying to me, Anniebach, it’s not about her speaking truth. It’s about the picture being truthful which it isn’t. Maybe it’s not important in terms of what was edited, but it breaks the rules that these news and photo agencies have therefore they couldn’t let it be circulated from them.

OK - in another informal photo' she's not wearing her rings.

Obviously, this seems 'odd' to you (and others) - sufficiently to raise questions and compare previous photo's.

So, come on, tell us what you think is being hidden that we have a 'right' to know?

To clarify my earlier comments about Catherine and the non wearing of her rings…

I quite agree Dickens that you only see official photos when she has her rings on, and if she never wears them at home (like me) that’s absolutely fine.

I just found it really noticeable that she wasn’t wearing them, it just struck me as unusual, that’s all, nothing bad about it.

Me too, Dickens. It’s just ridiculous how some people are treating the royals as a soap opera, not as real people with the right to keep at least some privacy. Who would want their health problems broadcast to the nation?

I don’t think people have a right to know the details of someone’s health, but I don’t think people have a right to claim a significantly digitally manipulated picture as a source of truth and try to distribute it to the press, either.

Some daft woman on the radio this morning asking, if we can't trust them to tell the truth about the picture, how can we trust them to run the country?

This was a nasty attempt by the press to make a story out of nothing, and I hope all the people who 'feel they have a right to know' and 'don't like being lied to' are satisfied.

I like the photo. My rings go on and off depending on what I'm doing and how swollen/ painful my hands are. The Princess has nothing to apologise for in my view.

Strangely these photo agencies don't seem the need to take the "high ground" with other celebrity photos do they.
The Kardashian photos are always edited
Many of the photos that Harry and Meghan put out are edited
They happily print celebrity PR shoots that are edited

I very rarely wear my wedding ring, but as HelterSkelter said, you never see Catherine without hers.

Perhaps her fingers are swollen, but whilst they were editing the picture, all the more reason to have edited a hand wearing them still.

Maybe that's because you only see her during public engagements when she will obviously be wearing them.

How often do you see her simply relaxing at home when, like you, she may choose not to?

I think that one need look no further in this non-story than Princess Kate's determination to keep her health issues private as she's entitled to do.
They don't want official press photos because that would be intrusive and they would lose control of a situation that they are determined to control.
I imagine that with a 10? day hospital stay she has had major surgery so a two to three month convalescence would be normal.
Her appearance is probably the concern because she was pretty well skinny to start with( not a criticism she is a credit to the country in her excellent clothes taste ) and post -op as she gets her appetite back possibly even thinner.

What a ridiculous fuss. The first ten minutes of BBC lunchtime news were taken up with this non-story.
