The Fuss Over The Royal Family Photo

No idea Anniebach.
It was just something I read on the media, (not the DM) though when you think of all the posts on here and elsewhere, it does seem as if she felt forced, compelled, obliged etc. to apologise for, retract, withdraw, explain her photo, alongside all the intrusive questioning about her health.

Forced by whom?

Watched The Last Leg and there was an excellent spoof by two young men who apparently got an interview with a US programme. They showed how they had photoshopped the image. E.g. That Paddington was in the window behind and that the sandwich he was eating wasn’t marmalade, but a crayfish salad, so it mustn’t be a true photo.
I’ve also read that Catherine was forced to apologise. Forced? What a lovely way for people treat a woman who has been ill.

It's also a matter of truth and that simply repeating the facts is somehow classed as hysteria. I have seen that game before and it's not fun.

Mollygo and Daddima, I agree with each of you. My intention was to say it was a matter of press ethics, which is important, not Kate's state of health or her skill at photoshopping.

It's hardly publishing photographs of war zones or a huge seismic event.

As I said, the sky will not fall in if she takes a few months off to recuperate in peace and privacy.

As I said previously, I think she was taking steroids for some ‘ abdominal issue’, maybe post op also, and felt pressured into releasing a picture she had Photoshopped to stop the mad speculation. I’m sure when the ‘ moon face’ goes she will reappear.
( And, yes, I know I’ve just done my own bit of speculation!)

She’s already apologised for the error.
I know current thinking is not to accept apologies, but really the error here is the insatiable intrusiveness of the press and the media over something that should have been allowed to remain private.

But Kate is our future Queen, maybe before much time has passed . This is not just News of the World type gossip about an obscure member of the public. The fuss is not about just anyone or any photo doctoring. I feel very sorry for the fuss! This was a lovely family sna taken by family. I suspect the photo was not specifically taken for release.

As someone who has very little interest in the royal family, I’ve found the whole furore hugely entertaining, tbh, especially so many people trying to work out how to pronounce Cholmondley - Brian Bilston even wrote a little poem about that

My favourite comment to date was in response to a BbC headline that more than a fifth of British adults are not looking for work, to which someone replied ‘Tbf they can’t be expected to look for work AND the Princess of Wales’.
