The Fuss Over The Royal Family Photo

Good grief! There's so much over-analysis and various "experts" giving opinions you would think that someone had revealed that they had conclusive proof that the Mona Lisa was faked.
It just seems to be the ONLY story at the moment - and I'm tired of it!

One royal expert ! Said Catherine not wearing her engagement ring was insulting to Diana

Washerwoman Thu 14-Mar-24 09:08:08

As for the rings.I had to take mine off last year for an operation and it was a real struggle. I had put any weight on and have always stayed about the same since we married apart from pregnancies. It was months before I got my rings resized and the jeweller said even without weight gain knuckles tend to get bigger in proportion to finger size as we get older.Maybe Catherine just hasn't put hers back on post operatively yet as recuperating in private ?Probably another slip up she regrets as fuelling so much speculation and gossip.Poor lass.

Why has no-one mentioned Prednisolone? I can’t bear to look at photos of my ‘steroid years’. It could also cause fat fingers as well as the moon face, hence the lack of rings, and she could actually have photoshopped the Vogue photo of her face on to the Mother’s Day one. I would love to photoshop my grandson’s baptism photos.

The furore is due to the fact she hasn’t been seen since before Christmas. The three photos that have emerged somewhat hurriedly, since people have started asking questions, are all manipulated. The family photo, her face was cut from a Vogue cover and there are around 17 anomalies within it.
The car silhouette was an image taken from another event and the other with her mother was not her. A royal author said she ‘is extremely ill’. The happy family photo taken a few days ago is not that of an ill woman. The palace could put this to bed easily if they wished. Hence the speculation and suspicion and the big question, what other lies do they tell. Quite a few, knowing what we know.

I have to hold myself in check to not get swallowed up by theories.

But I think posts like this do have a point sometimes.
Quite how correct they are, I do not know.

I did think personally, that the Mothers Day photo, for someone who is supposed to be still recovering from major surgery, she looked very well. Not ill at all.

I dont know whether to apologise to people for thinking the way I am!
Or things will come out, and I will think, well I should have, well I am not sure what, guessed? Not been so taken in?

If there have been things covered up, hopefully KP or whoever, will learn not to do that again.

If everything is genuine, well it is a shame, and upsetting, for those involved.

Fortunately a free press doesnt involve only publishing the stories some people approve of.

If the media and some of the GBP weren’t so intrusive, nothing would need to be said or photographs manipulated for publication.
How awful for both of them to feel under that sort of pressure. The media and GBP were told there would be no further details. Did they sit back and politely accept that right to privacy? No! They rudely continued the usual “we have a right to know.”
It might have been a great red herring really. People are so busy chasing the source of any images, looking for the around 17 anomalies etc that they don’t have time for Catherine’s health.

Gundy Thu 14-Mar-24 08:11:44

It’s not that Catherine’s PR team has failed her, nor has the public failed her… look at the relentless savagery of the British press/media. They do have a reputation for that.

A free and FAIR press - anywhere - is getting scarce. So many conspiracy theories, innuendo abound, the hounding “paps”, competition for dollars is setting the world on fire over stories that are taking precedence over REAL news that might affect OUR daily lives.

People do enter spheres of influence unwittingly - and they end up paying for it.

A Royal life or one of politics or celebrity is not one that you or I would relish. You sacrifice your autonomy and privacy. Imagine the stress when you are picked apart, treated with disrespect night and day. Sometimes the press does not know when to let go. Find a new story!

I hope the Royal Family has the last laugh. That she shows up unannounced at some event after Easter looking relaxed and her cheerful self. (To the embarrassment of the press).

Calendargirl Thu 14-Mar-24 07:06:26

Going back to the rings.

My thought was that her fingers were swollen.

My DH, not remotely interested in any of this said “She’s probably lost weight after her op and isn’t wearing her rings because they fall off. When she’s put the weight back on, she’ll wear them”.

Simple.

Anniebach Thu 14-Mar-24 06:11:44

What lie ? ‘a royal author said ! This is now truth ? Catherine attended church Christmas Day .

As I have said elswhere, I am not a Royal watcher. I don’t read tabloids or follow Court Circular and if the Princess had disappeared for a year, I doubt I would have noticed but as KP drew attention to her surgery and now this amateur photo episode, even I am starting to be suspicious about what is going on.

...even I am starting to be suspicious about what is going on.

Why should there be anything "going on" other than a woman who happens to be a popular member of the RF attempting to recover from fairly serious surgery and, at the same time, grapple with the insatiable curiosity of the general public and their intrusive demands to know... "what's going on".

If you have had abdominal surgery (and I have) you will know that the pain can be protracted for quite some time afterward - pain for which not infrequently opiates are prescribed. If the intestines have been handled, any consultant will tell you that they don't react favourably, and will sometimes 'shut down' for a length of time that varies individually. No patient who has had such surgery will be allowed to leave hospital until the digestive system is up and running again. And, when it is, it may well still be sluggish. Also, some patients react badly to anaesthetics and it will take time to recover. It is also not unknown for incisions to heal slowly, if it has been open surgery - regardless of how healthy you may be. All this is normal, and does not signify anything other than what it is.

Every individual recovers at their own pace. There is no one-size-fits-all.

Whatever the reason for Catherine's surgery, or the results from it - it is entirely her business, and she is not obliged to reveal either, she has the same rights, medically, to privacy as the rest of us.

Summerfly Thu 14-Mar-24 01:00:32

COLD, spot on!
So sick of conspiracy theories. Catherine has obviously had major surgery and has been convalescing. How lovely to see her with her children and looking so well.
Lots of reasons why she’s not wearing her rings. Maybe she doesn’t wear them at home. Her choice. The press and people need to get a grip. Her business!

Callistemon21 Wed 13-Mar-24 23:22:14

If you're not a "Royal watcher" (whatever that means) how did you realise Kensington Palace drew attention to her surgery and even notice the photo? Why not skip over press reports etc if you are not in the slightest bit interested?
Why not avoid Royal threads?

confused

For an otherwise fit young woman, whatever surgery she had, the recovery seems to be taking a long time. Two months now? It’s hard to understand why she is not making any public appearances at all, even just an orchestrated walk in public with the Prince and their children.
But we don’t need to understand. It isn’t our business.
Would we not find it offensive if some anonymous stranger told us how long we should take to recover?

Anniebach Wed 13-Mar-24 22:49:22

Definitely, paraded and with her children in tow 😂

Callistemon21 Wed 13-Mar-24 22:45:27

An orchestrated walk with her children? this is a send up

😁
Has to be!

Before she had the surgery it was announced for how long she would be absent from public appearances. That timescale has not been extended at this point. We have no idea what abdominal surgery she's had, and have zero right to know. I trust the doctors charged with her care to have sound ideas of how to manage her recovery. Maybe walking is still slow and painful, she should expose herself to more analysis just to sate public nosiness interest?

You are intent on arguing with anyone who puts a logical case Sarcasm using juvenile emojis won't help your argument.

Logical case for what?

We were told she would be out of action until after Easter, yet we have people wanting to know where she is!
This!

TinSoldier why do you think it's your right to know exactly the nature of the medical procedure and why the Princess of Wales is not going out in public at the moment?

She is not Head of State, the sky will not fall in if she does not appear in public for a few months.

Anniebach Wed 13-Mar-24 22:31:17

I am sure Catherine is having excellent medical advice and guidance TinSoldier you want her to have a press call so she can strut up and down the garden with cameras popping, perhaps you have been watching Crufts, which should be banned

Deedaa Wed 13-Mar-24 22:20:36
