Cats!

I have just read that Keir Starmer has a cat called Jojo who is, presumably, going to live at No. 10.

Be afraid Jojo, be very afraid. Larry is hard, real hard. He used to have skirmishes with Palmerston the Foreign Office cat until P. retired and P. was even harder. He saw off a fox quite recently too.

Mind you, Larry is now 16 going on 17 so he may retire soon.

I’m reminded of Mog, who thought she’d go out of the front door, instead of the back door, where it was raining.
Mog was notoriously thick, though. Thicker than your average moggy.

My indoor cats have a catio, with a cat flap in a window for access. One cat still hasn’t learned to open it, after a year, so it has to be propped open in all weathers for her.

I have seen Larry the No 10 cat sit and wait for the door to be opened and then ignore it.

Rather than walk round to the back garden mine prefers to come in the front window and head down to the back bedroom to ask out.I put up with it as it adds to my steps.

I saw this pic on Twitter. I thought it might ring a bell with contrary cat owners!

We lost our little cat recently so I’d love to jumping up and down to let him in or out … 😢

A friend has five cats (and a dog) so you can imagine how many times she gets up and down off the sofa in an evening as they will only use the living room window. “Owned” by the famous five!

Last night one of my kittens, having steadfastly refused to eat the food I’d given her, started snuffling round the food waste bin to get at it the moment I threw it away.

So, according to T.S, Elliot did the Rum-Tum-Tugger.

Or at least jumped up onto the larder shelf to eat the food he had sniffed and sneered at.

It is warm, so she is full of energy and would far rather jump in through the window than walk through the door!

Surely, even a human being can work that out?

Yes, this is familiar. Our elderly cat would only come in the back door, even if she went out thr front door. Could not go back in the front door even if it was wide open. She sat and looked sad at the closed back door instead lol

HA HA HA! Typical cats!

And to think there are people who can actually train cats! I’ve seen two women on the TV with cats trained to jump through hoops and do tricks. Heaven knows how that’s done.

My DD has recently been acquired by a cat. She, the cat, is a very beautiful, non pedigree, silver tabby.

Cat does a very good line in distain, she looks up at me, flicks her tail and pointedly leaves the room when I appear. I have been ruled by numerous cats over the years but I have never
met one quite as snooty as this before.

You just need to remember YOU own a dog but the CAT owns you!! You never get a cat to do as you say! If you want a lovely book to read there is "The Silent Miaow" by Paul Gallico who wrote The snow goose. Anyone who is "owned" by a cat will recognise lots of things in it.

midgey, in answer to your question, your cat, clearly, sees this as a staff training issue.

Our cat is basically an indoor cat and will only go out in fine weather if we are in the garden. However, she demands her right , on the coldest days, to have me open the door for her while she looks outside for a few minutes while the cold air falls into the house.

I laughed at my neighbour's cat .
She pushes the cat flap to and fro making a noise until you open the door for HRH !

Oh cats are a little crazy but intelligent. I have looked after so many and they have very different personalities. Most of all they are such fun. I just ignore them. Drives them crazy and makes them affectionate which I love when they get over themselves.

The cat distribution system cannot function properly if you don't let them in lol

I do not have a cat officially. However a cat has chosen me. He sits outside giving me “the look”. Sometimes I go upstairs to avoid it out of guilt.
