Just a lighthearted thread but apart from adorable bitzer mutts, what are you 3 favourite breeds of dog?
I like Border collies, malamutes and golden retrievers/labradors ( equally) . I actually like most dogs but they are all just excessively gorgeous.

Cairn Terriers - they are so naughty, independent and great fun. Never a dull moment in our house!
Westies
Patterdales.

Another useless bit of information alert, did you know today is National Puppy Day? 🐶 🐶

No!

I know it's Palm Sunday 🙂

Any terrier actually!

Kupari, I agree. Cairn terriers are the characters of the dog world, tough, clever, disobedient, and so funny. They make it up as they go along, always up to something of their own invention.

I have to add Afghan Hounds. Beautiful but bonkers - or at least ours was.

Yes I love Afghan hounds. When I lived in Devon in the late 60’s an older woman in our small market town had 3. They (the dogs that is) were so regal.
Then as an Archers listener, Mrs Antrobus and her girls became firm faviurites

I'm also enjoying this thread. I think the dogs we love say quite a lot about us as people. I'm very much a "terrier" person and although I quietly admire other dogs, I hope I'll always have a naughty little terrier somewhere in my life.

Little spaniels, big spaniels and middle-sized spaniels are my favourite three breeds.

Ok confession time - I’ve shared my life with 12 dogs since I was 25 years old, 50 years ago. Plus four foster dogs - each of the fosters labradoodles. Ive loved all my dogs but stand outs / a kelpie cross rescued to us at 18 months after being abused starved and thrown out of a moving car outside the dog shelter
Huge labradoodle - I was owner 4 in her first 5 months of life
My two blue roan spaniels
My currrnt bonkers young lab
And every dog I’ve lived with

Not sure how common dingo crosses are these days. You never hear of dingos much now except in zoos. We had our boy in the 1990s. He has that lovely golden coloured coat, I feel sad remembering him because he died at about 8 years old, too young.

British Bulldog, Irish Wolfhound and Jack Russell. We have been rescuing bulldogs for over 20 years now, shame no one wants them after the puppy stage and especially as they hit the age of 8, it’s when they reach the age of everything starting to fail and hurt. They are so loving and cheeky, very stubborn too. I only have to look at the face and I end up with another one.

InTheCove Mon 25-Mar-24 13:40:17

Australian Cattle Dog, American Bully and Cairn Terrier

MillieBoris Mon 25-Mar-24 13:44:34

Golden Retriever-gentle giants
Number 1 is border collie. We have had 3 and wouldn’t now have any other breed xx

Heliotrope Mon 25-Mar-24 13:49:59

I love all dogs, but especially German shepherds, I have had three (four counting one when I was a child) but when my last girl died I felt after 50 years of having dogs I couldn’t watch another die, have a cat now and hopefully he will outlive me.

Sawsage2 Mon 25-Mar-24 13:52:21

Cocker spaniel.
