Just a lighthearted thread but apart from adorable bitzer mutts, what are you 3 favourite breeds of dog?
I like Border collies, malamutes and golden retrievers/labradors ( equally) . I actually like most dogs but they are all just excessively gorgeous.

I’ve got 5 labradors and have had many over the years so I think you can guess my favourite.

Properly raised Labrador retriever. Fabulous around the grandkids - loves them right back. Patient, kind, active, always happy.

French Bull Dogs and Dalmations are my favourites, however, I like most dogs ..

Chocolate Labrador (only because I’ve got one)!! 😂

Goldies, German shepherds and malamuts. No small dogs. Jack Russells are the most disliked by postmen - statistically they bite by far the most!!

Jack Russell - clever, opinionated, determined and very trainable - when they want to be. Definitely believe that they're a level above all other canines, they think they're closer to humans. Brave, rude, energetic but also sun lovers who will roast themselves in front of the fire, in a sun spot or on your electric blanket.
Collie - so intelligent, know far better than you so trainable if they respect and trust you. High energy, but also very loyal.
whippets - neighbours have one, and she is the most gentle, sweet natured little thing - but a whirlwind too, at times.

Always Jack Russells for me.
I love all dogs but have always had JRTs.
We have 3 at the moment.
So thrilled to see happy little Zen at Crufts.

I've had a variety of dogs in my 64 years, but I do love Labradoodles for their wonderful temperament. Poodle crosses for their smarts.
Recently took on a wirehaired standard Dachshund for hubby, and o my goodness, WHAT A CHARACTER! She makes us laugh over and over, and is so affectionate and cuddly

Yes Wizend, Flat-coated Retrievers are so beautiful. We have had three: two gentle and calm and then the third, mad as a hatter, the setter ancestry coming out. I love black labs, I melt when they give you the sad-eye look. Our current Cocker Spaniel is a joy. Let’s face it, we will all choose the breeds we have loved!

Afghan hounds, Irish wolfhound, saluki...any sighthound really, have a greyhound x saluki lurcher at the moment, & feisty terriers, not keen on any that drool though.

Golden retriever, staffie, daschund

jenniwren Mon 25-Mar-24 14:49:33

Staffy
Cairn
Jack Russel
love all the Terriers !

Munsterlander (smaller)
Flat Coat Retriever
Munsterlander (smaller)

Both wonderful dog breeds. While not a particularly doggy person we gave in and our daughter had a black flat coat retriever who was wonderful. She now has a smaller Munsterlander ( 7 1/2 years old) who despite being a hunting dog is incredibly gentle and protective of the family.

Red setters and springer spaniels for me! Red setters are the most affectionate, easy going dogs. And Springer spaniels are so loyal they would die for you!

GrauntyHelen Mon 25-Mar-24 14:45:33

I home board and my faves are Westies Cocker spaniels and schnauzers

Boolya Mon 25-Mar-24 14:44:11

Vizla, boxer, standard poodle

Bazza Mon 25-Mar-24 14:35:27

I love all dogs except any with pushed in faces, just can’t take to them.

Milest0ne Mon 25-Mar-24 14:27:33

I love border collies for their intelligence,
I used to see a dog trainer who used to walk and tried to train a cockerpoo She said it was the stupidest dog she had ever tried to train but it was a lovely friendly dog.

SillyNanny321 Mon 25-Mar-24 14:11:38

Alsatians, Red Setters & Labradors mainly but most dogs are lovely!

2420mags Mon 25-Mar-24 14:09:26

Border Terriers all the way.
In fact possibly my last one (Dottie aged 16) is pawing me, huffing and puffing because l am sat where she usually does at this time of day, typing this. Hopefully we will take on an old one or pair through Border Terrier Welfare.
Kerry Blue, Dandy Dinmont and Bull Terrier. The latter not at all like the others but l love their laid back lazy attitude to life and think of nothing else than eating or sleeping in my experience

grandtanteJE65 Mon 25-Mar-24 14:08:59

German shepherds, border collies, airdale terriers.

Mumofthree Mon 25-Mar-24 14:08:37

My favourite is my Bedlington Whippet Martha, she's beautiful, she's clever, loving, cheeky, funny and loves everyone. I also like most dogs if I'm honest.
