Faffing about in Older Age!

No not a faffer just get on with it. Certainly don’t worry about the things mentioned.

Callistemon: No such thing as a waste of time when sorting out a stash. Now you have an excuse purpose to shop for that all important colour and won't waste time and money on buying a 'near miss' - or so I rationalise my stash-browsing time!

The trouble is, I had a big tidy up a while ago and threw all the odd ball bands away, can't remember the make or shade.
It's green, but there are 50 shades of green!

I've never dithered or faffed about less in my life than I do now. Very little troubles me these days; if the bins don't get put out this week, so what; it'll do next week. Cleaning up not done today? So what; maybe tomorrow! The clock is ticking; I don't waste a second worrying about stuff that won't amount to hill of beans when I'm dead.

I love a bit of crafty faffing where I search through knitting patterns, sort wool and decide what I am going to make next. But mostly I do not faff about and leave it for hubby to do. My youngest son faffs about so much that it is a wonder he manages to get to work!!!

Crafty faffing.

I've just spent a happy hour making notepads out of paper offcuts. The covers are old birthday cards. I have enough to last me several lifetimes but I enjoy a bit of faffing.

The o'er yonder thing was intended to be light hearted. Never mind.

When mr i was diagnosed, I found a gardener who keeps the lawns in order. I still did the borders and kerchered the paths. Now I’m out of action with the shoulder fracture, I have staff. Cleaners fortnightly, gardener had to tidy the leaves and do some cutting back. I also had ‘men’ in to jet spray the paths. The rest of my support team are unpaid, my adult daughters who somehow manage to take me shopping and pick up emergency milk/bread and - take me to hospital appointments. They’re 😇

I read an interesting thread o'er yonder on the young folks' site entitled 'Please tell me we don't all end up like this'

I recognise some of the traits; the constant worry about food and minor details, obsession about set meal times, indecision, minutae becoming huge. Bins loom large as does the Radio Times.

Why not say Mumsnet BTW, it’s not a young ones site. I read and post far more on MN than I do on here. There are thousands of MN members of an older demographic.

I'm worried in case the man who does such a good job of our lawns and hedges decides to retire. Other firms we tried are more expensive, unreliable and don't do such a good job either.

And yes, one day, Zakouma66, you may find you need help with some tasks. Think on before you make sarcastic comments.

I think I last bought the Radio Times in the mid-nineties. I thought everyone looked online now.
I am indecisive though. Dithering about whether to spend my ACLS payout on a Strathberry handbag.

Stansgran, breaking in new servants must be a challenge.

I don't think I am a faffer, but we do have set mealtimes , and also a set delivery day and time for my shopping to come, I find it easier to have set day as I then don't really run short of things and can plan around the day DH, has set days for his physio treatment and we try and meet friend for coffee on some days too. I try to plan our week rather a be in a tizz.

I enjoyed that thread in the dark place . We have tv timetables delivered in the local paper on Thursday and included inthe Times on Saturday ,laughingly called Culture. We don’t use any of them .i use an App calledTV 24 which I use to stop DH zapping through the channels( faffing)
I do keep an ongoing list on a large pad of A4 which goes back to 2016 with plans short medium and long term . Sadly some of the long term ones have still not been achieved so that could be called faffing.
I do read the Elderly Parents threads to keep myself on my toes. I’m heading towards 79 and the comments those dear girls make can be salutary. I think they don’t understand how daunting downsizing is and decorators ,gardeners cleaners and handymen who’ve been with us for years are ageing and retiring and the apprehension of breaking in new ones is nerve wracking.

One of my DS is particular anal
about mealtimes.
If I phone and they're eating, he'll either not answer or answer with a brief brush off.
I didn't bring him up like that.

I've just thrown some string away.
I cut lots of bits for a project, which was much better in my mind than it turned out to be.

I feel I ought to have made it into a nourishing stew or something. 🤭
