Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s grey and looks quite wet
We eventually arrived home very late last night after a really lovely holiday despite the challenges with travel. Today it’ll be unpacking, food shopping and hopefully a quick trip to the gym - there’s just one more week left before it closes for good
If you’re meeting friends and family today enjoy the get togethers and making happy memories
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Today we are off to DS1’s for lunchtime buffet and egg hunt, hopefully in the garden. There will be a houseful plus two excited dogs. We won’t take our little pooch, she’ll be happier snoozing at home.

Yesterday was Persie's 11th birthday. Scary how quickly they grow up.

It started to rain really heavily on Wednesday afternoon in North Wiltshire. It stopped around midnight. At 9am yesterday it started again with a few brief respites and didn’t let up until 11pm. It was the heaviest rain I’ve seen the whole winter. We had shopping to do and a table booked for lunch in Marlborough so set off. It was really difficult driving along the A4 there and back and shortly after we got home it apparently became impassable at West Overton. The A303 was closed for miles. Many, many roads were badly affected causing chaos.

DD2 is coming for dinner tomorrow with the GC. Her fiancé is having a night out with his brother in Bath. No Easter eggs by request. I got them something else instead as they will have plenty from elsewhere.

I hope everyone has a good Easter and that some sunshine will appear for you all.

Good morning everyone from a bright but windy Northampton; yesterday afternoon was horrendous with heavy rain,.thunder and lightning. I rushed to get my washing in after I saw some of it blown off the line and scattered around the garden!
The engineer came and fitted a new heating element in my oven; also removed the dead oven light, and I have ordered new ones from the usual on-line retailer.

A trip on the bus to the shops this morning for a top-up shop, and coffee in M&S.
Early dinner then out to live rugby tonight; anyone interested, it's on a BT (now TNT) sports channel: Northampton Saints v Saracens. Look out for me behind the goal posts!

Mick, if you still have a post-office counter in Brackley, you can usually withdraw cash there.

Just had a buttered hot-cross bun for breakfast, an apple and cinnamon one, very yummy!

Morning Mick, morning All. Sunshine with grey clouds looming over our corner of Somerset. Less windy.

Venturing out yesterday, we’re on to choosing new blind fabric for the conservatory, goodness did we get wet. Horizontal rain, hailstones, thunder, very cold too. There are half a dozen swatches stuck to windows with BluTak. It can be guaranteed our preference will be different and we’ll summon a third opinion - our neighbour will don hard hat and offer her thoughts. All very good humoured and yes, it’s usually my preference that carries the day.

Quiet one here today. Will have a chat with one son, landing yesterday from a business trip it took him forever to get home.

Goodness oops that was a day. Welcome home If you’ve a post office locally mick it’s worth asking them what banking services they provide for your bank and as others have said there may well be a cash machine outside a local shop, our Tesco Express has one. Telephone banking is simple once set up. Safe travels maw and all on the move.

Good morning from a calm and bright Suffolk after yesterday’s sun followed by rain and very high winds last night.

I shall make a simnel cake today which I’ve been planning to make since Wednesday but socialising has overtaken that plan. I have no excuse not to make it today.

I don’t know if it is an East Anglian tradition but locals around here have always planted their seed potatoes on Good Friday. Thinking about it quite a surprising one given how the date can vary by a few weeks.

For years there used to be a concert at Snape Maltings at 3pm on Good Friday of religious music such as Stainer’s ‘ The Crucifixion’ but sadly these ceased several years ago with the modernisation of the programming. The concerts were a special way to start this special season.

Oh I loved “Stainer’s Crucifixion” it brings back happy memories of singing this at All Saints, Tooting Graveney.

Good morning from a sunny, dry NE.
I am going out for lunch with my friend,we meet up every four weeks and didn't see any reason to change the arrangement.
DD and SIL we here all day yesterday and sorted a few admin things.
Have a good day all and thoughts are with poorly people and their carers.



We had dinner together then they left fairly early as I am not well at present and they suggested I had an early night.

We had so much rain yesterday and it was windy too. Younger son is here for Easter. His train was delayed a little because of a branch on the line!
Hot cross buns for breakfast.
OH will try to visit his bees but if it’s raining they’ll stay in their hive.
Not sure what the day holds but I hope all the GNs have a good one.

Good morning from a dull, grey and cold Black Country. Feels so cold after 10 days in Lanzarote.

We had a lovely week, albeit it did rain most days, interspersed with sunshine.

Nightmare journey home as Oops mentioned. Our 11am flight was very late, we took off at around 4pm. Due to bad weather the incoming flight couldn't land and had to go to Furerterventura and wait there. Consequently the crew ran out of flying hours, so we had to go via Madrid, where there was a crew change and they refuelled. Finally arrived home at midnight, after leaving our hotel at 9am! Luckily we caught the last train from Birmingham to home.

No real plans today, except for unpacking and washing.

It was either Good Friday or St Patrick's day Liberty in my repertoire of useful sayings.
Mine are in!

Sunny at present but there is some rain in the forecast for the next two weeks so I am not optimistic. Helping in church with children doing Easter crafts and making the Easter garden, then later on DD and co arrive so I must check that everything is in order. I so look forward to a house full of laughter.

Yesterday I was out and about...absolutely freezing in the wind.
Today I'm getting out again whilst the sun's shining, the garden centre beckons and I have a list....Later I hope to do some actual gardening. Plus there is the ironing, it will get done!

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
I had a barium meal swallow at the hospital 20 miles away yesterday re my hernias. DS came with me, I drove there as know the route and he drove back. Never had one before and find it ok, but have felt off colour since, slightly nauseous and a feeling similar to a reaction to the covid jab. Will have a quiet day and a salmon fillet tonight.

On the way back, we picked up a new bird table, rather unusual. This often happens with DS, we have a great after a hospital appointment.
DD had an incident in her car in the south yesterday and she is fine, but car not so good. She loves her car, but the main thing is she is in one piece.

Good Morning from a damp Co Armagh, we have a watery sun doing it’s best to clear the clouds
Mick my Grandchildren won’t take cash from me , not even the 12yr old , I have to transfer cash to their bank
I use cash for very few transactions now since a chatty man on the till at Tesco showed me how to put my Tesco card on my phone . My Daughter then put my bank card on my phone
I do need cash to light candles in Church ! But I can see it will soon be on my phone too !
My neighbours ( DD + SIL ) are off to their caravan this am , middle daughter and granddaughter arrive tomorrow to boss me around 🤣
I have moved my bedroom clock forward already! It takes me weeks to get used to the clock changing
I’ll trundle to the Good Friday ceremony this afternoon and candles will be lit for all 🕯️

The railway museum is running steam trains for the next three days so we will be out and about. I’m hoping to get some decent photos, weather permitting. MrB has tomatoes to plant so some gardening is on the agenda too.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire, reasonably bright and dry at the moment.

My life has been chaotic recently so could I belatedly thank everyone for kind birthday wishes, I was very touched indeed,
Seriously, I am ‘all over the place’ as they say. Half an hour ago I literally lept up in horror thinking I was supposed to be meeting friends for coffee at 10 o’clock in a nearby town. Then calmed down when I realised it’s tomorrow I’m doing that.

All that is scheduled for today is church at three o’clock. Last night at the part of the service when 12 parishioners come forward for a replication of the ‘washing of the feet’, for the first time in years there were no women, only men involved.
I was surprised how upset I was, this young priest we have now is so ‘traditional’ , he is dragging us back into the past.
I will speak to him about it after Easter when I don’t feel so strongly.

Off work today as nursery closes over Easter. I’ve woke up with a screaming cold not the Good Friday I’d planned. But the one I’ll have to deal with. Knitting and books and plenty of paracetamol planned now. Dear friend went into hospital on Monday for op that has been cancelled twice and has had it postponed again. Must send some flowers and a card to keep her spirits up. Have a lovely day all.

I'm in shock - it looks as if everything is open in the UK. Here in Sydney absolutely everything closed. Traditional Easter.
