When do you stop giving Easter Eggs to your grandsons ?

Grammaretto Sun 31-Mar-24 04:07:28

I tried to buy chocolate Easter eggs yesterday but the 3 shops I tried locally, were sold out!

Well I wish I could give him one but he's too far away. I did send money for his Mum to buy him one.

What about granddaughters? Do they get an egg?

Well I’m still giving them to their parents as well, so I really don’t know. smile

Ditto!!

6 dgc. They each get a small egg and £10.

I have 6 grandchildren - oldest are 21 and 22 - I still give them Easter eggs. Until a couple of years ago, my AC and their wives got one each as well - got way too expensive and perhaps a bit wasteful because they’re all on diets etc 😂that’s my excuse anyway

Any excuse to put a smile on someones face and I'll buy chocolate eggs

I like your thinking, paddyann54. smile I buy one for DH too. And one for myself while I’m at it.

As for them being overpriced, they’re a cut above an everyday bar of chocolate and I’m happy to pay a bit more. And for most of March, Tesco was selling its medium sized eggs for £2, the small ones for £1, quite the bargain in my opinion. I’m sure other supermarket deals were available.

I still buy one for my OH who loves Easter egg chocolate more than any other chocolate ,the kids and GC all get tham and a couple of neighbours who are having a tough time get them too.Any excuse to put a smile on someones face and I'll buy chocolate eggs

At what age do you stop giving Easter Eggs to your grandsons ?

When you’re 97?
Sorry, couldn’t resist.

I have sent 'Easter egg money' to DS1 and family in USA and bought some for DS2 family here. I now have won a giant Easter Egg. 9lb of milk choc. so the local ones are coming on Monday to help eat it. A local charity did a draw for their fb supporters.

Yeah, and as long as they want too.

RosiesMaw Sat 30-Mar-24 17:26:09

As long as you want!

Ilovecheese Sat 30-Mar-24 11:31:44

About 14. But I send a few quid for them to buy their own if they like.

NotSpaghetti Sat 30-Mar-24 11:02:04

Me too!
Probably the only ones the parents will get! 🤣

HowVeryDareYou2 Sat 30-Mar-24 10:57:33

I buy chocolate for my sons (42 and 40) as well as eggs for 1 DIL and all the GC. One DIL is lactose intolerant, so I've got her a nice candle and tealight holder

Shinamae Sat 30-Mar-24 10:49:44

My grandchildren will have quite enough chocolate without me adding to it so I give them a small amount of money instead…

Glorianny Sat 30-Mar-24 10:44:14

Never given them. GCs mum is a dentist and sweets are strictly limited, so they would just sit in a tin for months. They are an overpriced way to buy chocolate anyway.

ginny Sat 30-Mar-24 10:39:43

Small eggs to all three. Money to eldest (21) and new T-shirts and shorts for little ones.

lemsip Sat 30-Mar-24 10:22:20

when they start wanting money instead! lol

Kate1949 Sat 30-Mar-24 10:10:39

We give them to our nephews who are nearly 40! Why not? Most people love a bit of chocolate.

Jaxjacky Sat 30-Mar-24 10:07:28

Our grandchildren are 11 and 16, they’ll have two eggs, one from us and one from their Mum, as long as they appreciate them, we’ll buy them.

Pittcity Sat 30-Mar-24 09:41:40

I've never given them. I let them choose a small gift instead. They get loads of chocolate from other sources.
I stop once they start working. Then they can buy me something 🍫🐣

Greenfinch Sat 30-Mar-24 09:40:58

I will be giving all my grandchildren a small token egg with some money attached. The older two because they are 16 and health conscious and the younger four because their parents don’t like them eating too much chocolate.

Maggiemaybe Sat 30-Mar-24 09:32:47
