If time travel became possible😊 would any of you choose your teen years to re visit? If not then, which age would you choose?

I would like to go back to 16 and dip into other times in my life where I made mistakes. With the wisdom of years I would have acted differently.

I had a lot of missed opportunities due to confidence issues because of my childhood. Imagine being asked to be a go-go dancer on a TV show where my beloved Beatles were appearing and being too under confident to go.

Yes, I would. I would take more advantage of the excellent educational opportunities I had, but study the subjects I wanted, rather than those I felt obliged to. I would miss out, deliberately, on getting involved with a few people who were not looking after my best interests ( a few unwise relationships). I would meet my husband sooner than I did, have our children younger, and possibly have a couple more as the ones we did have are two fine young adults.

Yes Callistemon21. I've said that many a time.

Joseann I d go back for the very reasons you wouldn’t yes I had some fun but could have had SO MUCH more if I hadn’t have felt I had to be serious and grown up and live up to my parents hopes for me although they never said I should, it was just my own bloody conscience

I would love to go back to 1970 after I left school.
The 70's were the best years of my life. From there I wish I could back and change things.

This thread reminds me of another one of my Mother's sayings:

"If I knew then what I know now!"

I'd have been more adventurous.

The one important thing I would have changed was to be born a man and not a girl.

biglouis Sun 31-Mar-24 14:03:53

Not a teenager but my early 20s (mid 1960s) when I had just left my parents house and got my own flat. I was newly qualified, had a lot of money to spend on myself and on furnishing my own home. Those were wonderful carefree years.

Joseann Sun 31-Mar-24 13:58:20

I would go back in a flash and wouldn't change a thing. So many adventures and discoveries about life, so many fun people to share things with. I was a dreamer and any bad stuff went over the top of my head. (It still does, just how I'm made).

No.I wouldn't want the pressure of O levels, followed by A levels and then choosing the wrong College course and studying for a further 2 years until I finally escaped!
My 20's were definitely a huge improvement on my teenage years.

Yes, and I'd go to the 21st party that I didn't bother attending because I was tired after work, the party my now husband was at!
Our Dad's worked together, and we knew of each other's existence, but had never met.
If we'd got together then, I could have annoyed him for an extra four years! wink

Marydoll Sun 31-Mar-24 13:52:50

Absolutely not!

Bridie22 Sun 31-Mar-24 13:52:28

I would go back to being 16 only if I could take the benefits of hindsight with me, if not, no way would I do it again !!

pascal30 Sun 31-Mar-24 13:39:23

I would go back and follow my heart re studying a subject I loved without parental interference..

annsixty Sun 31-Mar-24 13:37:41

Not at all because I know that I would never ever have been able to stand up to my mother and things would not have changed.

Mel1967 Sun 31-Mar-24 13:36:37

I would go back - definitely.
I wouldn’t listen to my Mother - like I did.
And do what I wanted to do (career wise).
Isn’t there a saying:
‘Youth is wasted on the Young’

Cherrytree59 Sun 31-Mar-24 13:36:12

Sorry missed the ?

Cherrytree59 Sun 31-Mar-24 13:35:29

My teenage years were the best days of my life. My purple years, loved the 70's 💜💜

Following on my 20s were a struggle.
Although we did have the joy of 2 new babies

Sadly my children's teenage years were not their best era due health issues and other people.

Would I go back no, as I know the heartache that will follow 😢

Purplepixie Sun 31-Mar-24 13:23:50

Yes, yes, and more yes! I foolishly got married against my parents wishes when I was 18. I had no teen years as I was stupid and naive. Sadly dad died after I had been married 11 months. I would go back in a heartbeat and do EVERYTHING different!

Allex50 Sun 31-Mar-24 13:20:44

I'm trying to be a teen again (bit of a rebel about the house) but I would love to go back in time with the experiences and mistakes I've made.

Dinahmo Sun 31-Mar-24 13:16:20

No. Although I'm now 77 and suffering with the usual elderly peoples' health problems, I'm quite content as I am now.

Calendargirl Sun 31-Mar-24 13:14:47

17 was how old I was when I met my husband.

Looking back, the next two years were some of the happiest of my life.

I was doing a job I really enjoyed, going out with this lad who I loved and he loved me, living at home with mum and dad, no pressures, no worries, no hassle.

Then dad died very suddenly, and life never seemed quite the same.

I look at my GC now, ages ranging from 21 to 16, and don’t wish to be their age as things are now.

My teenage years seemed uncomplicated and fairly happy, they seem to have such high expectations of everything now, careers, relationships…

Kate1949 Sun 31-Mar-24 13:11:50

I wish I could have been born to different parents. I would still want the same siblings though.

JaneJudge Sun 31-Mar-24 13:09:09

We are so influenced by others when we are late teenagers aren't we? I wish I'd had the courage to stand up my abusive Father about absolutely everything. I would have made much better choices which would have given me better long term outcomes
