If time travel became possible😊 would any of you choose your teen years to re visit? If not then, which age would you choose?

I like being my age now but would like my 17 year old knees back.

I loved my teenage years, met my husband when I was 17, enjoyed dancing every weekend, but I love my life now, and I'm glad Im' not a teenager in these times,

I'd go back to 17 only just for the blissful ignorance and the lack of worry for the wider world.
At that age, you can be wholly self absorbed and everyone around you is the same.
I'd also love one more chance to be doted upon by my mother.

I wish I'd had the confidence to jig about/dance to the music of the day. When I see film of back then and the crowds dancing to Beatles ect I wish I had done that.

No. I hated my teenage years. I was short and fat and underconfident and oversensitive.

Now at nearly 69 I'm still short and fat but I'm more confident, less sensitive, and a fully paid up member of the "Love me or hate me, I don't mind because I'm content in my skin" club.

Met Mr. S. when I was 16 and married at 19 so didn't have any 'mad' teenage years but wouldn't change a thing.

Absolutely not, I had hideous younger life

Sallywally1 Tue 02-Apr-24 09:06:41

Only if I had had more supportive parents. As a result of their lack of care my life was a bit of a car crash in my 20s.

I see. Just being your self is good enough. Male personalities vary as much as females do.

No, not teenage years. I consider myself lucky to have had a good life apart from my losing my Mum far too soon and some other sad events .
I choose to go back to being 30. Had a new baby and a 3 & 6 year old. Loved being a SAHMum although we had to count the pennies we found plenty of cheap fun things to do.
Happy, happy days.

I really enjoyed my teenage years - great fun, good experiences, learned a lot, made many new friends - but I wouldn't want to go back

I would just love to go back to those days of freedom, no responsibilities, fun caring parents. I laughed a lot then. My teens were great. I was a party goer. Loved the music and the clothes.

Yes - 18. Left home to live near uni, lots of new friends and no mother to argue with and clip my wings! Funny, once I’d left home we developed a much better relationship. I never went back to live.

travelsafar Sun 31-Mar-24 23:06:16

Oh yes!!! Back home with mum and dad and my siblings. Yes,we argued and teased each other but we all knew we were loved by our parents even though we must have driven them crazy at times.
I would want to go with the knowledge I now have if that were possible. That way I wouldn't have made some awful mistakes and I'd have prevented my dear sister from making some of hers.

Interesting wish, BigLouis . How would that have given you a happier life

I would have missed out on all the physical horrors that women have to put up with like childbirth, periods and the menopause.

Ive been told that many of my attitudes are male and certainly I compartmentalise my emotions in the way (many) men do. Men do what they want to do without guilt and filter out what is not convenient to them. A good way to live.

Lexisgranny Sun 31-Mar-24 22:47:09

Yes, but I wish it hadn’t taken me so long to move out of my comfort zone, not have my decisions so strongly influenced by others and work wise, realise before I went into my twenties what career path I really wanted to follow,

Oh if only…. I wouldn’t be the shy little thing who thought I was ugly (looking at photos now I really wasn’t) my whole life would be different if I d have had some confidence and self belief when I was 17 🙄

I could have written that 😢

Woops! Got carried away and forgot to answer the question asked in the title. No! I would not go back to being a teenager. My teens gave me a platform from which to launch myself into adulthood, though that has been far from plain sailing. My teenage - young adult - GC seem to have more challenges than I had, or my DSs had, and I am glad I'm still there for them.

I would go back, in particular to 1973. I'd just left school and was due to start a language course at college in the autumn. My then best friend and I went travelling for the summer and in August we went to the Windsor Free Festival. The music in the charts that year was amazing, the hippy vibe of the 60's was still lingering and the sun was shining all summer (in my memory at any rate).

We met some interesting people on our travels including artists and writers and a man who lived on a boat on the River Dart. We climbed aboard and sailed with him past the thickly wooded shores right up to Dartmouth. Naturally we didn't think about the danger!

It was a magical, carefree summer at a time that seemed more innocent, although I suppose in reality it wasn't.

My teenage years were the 1950s, a 'grey' time in our history when we were still recovering from the war that cast a shadow on our childhood. I was lucky to have parents who supported me, though were sometimes over-protected. I was encouraged to do well at school, and read everything on their bookshelves. A good education, great friendships, wonderful environment - 100 yards from the beach. This thread has made me reflect on how privileged I was.

Deedaa Sun 31-Mar-24 21:36:06

I would continually relive the years from 17 to 21 when I was at art school. Four years of being totally cool -what's not to like?

Oreo Sun 31-Mar-24 21:14:40

I really would, I had a great time as a teenager, and could then do things differently when in my 20’s, including marrying the wrong guy.

Ziplok Sun 31-Mar-24 20:39:43

Well, if I could go back with all the knowledge and wisdom I’ve acquired over the years, I would like to go back to about age 18/19 to change some of the things I did at that time which I would never do now. However, it’s all in the past, and, I suppose, how we were shapes how we are now.

GrannyIvy Sun 31-Mar-24 20:26:22

Agree absolutely not!!

Bellasnana Sun 31-Mar-24 18:56:08

Marydoll

Absolutely not!

Ditto! 😱
