Good Morning Friday 5th April 2024

I would highly recommend a summer house if possible. I had a basic timber one built a few years ago, it is referred to as my she-shed/sanctuary. I had electricity connected which allowed me to have my coffee machine, music and a small fan heater for winter. I use it constantly whenever I feel the need to get out of the house during bad weather or not. Passed it’s best now, I have order a larger, fully insulated one which won’t be affected by wet weather. A bit more pricey but as I use it all year round, it will be worth it.

The sun is out at the moment, but we’ve had a lot of rain with more on the way.

Ash I was sorry to read your news about your vision and its impact on your driving - such a blow. We take our cars for granted, don’t we, and it’s like losing a limb when we can’t use them.

That was some ridiculous parking RosiesMaw. 😲. Glad they came quickly and moved it, obviously they didn’t fully understand the Highway Code 😂😂.

A late Good Morning from S Hants, it’s mild and damp after overnight rain.
Another one coughing half the night Grammaretto, it is tiring and makes my muscles sore.
I spent an inordinate amount of time online yesterday looking at sheds to replace our existing one, it’s had its day.
Tesco delivering later, possibly pub tonight, I’ll see.

Good morning all. Snow here in Dunblane this morning and very grey and cold. I think we have had Spring, missed out Summer and Autumn and are back to Winter. Going nowhere today.

Good morning everyone from a soggy, windy, cold Angus coast, and the rain hitting the windows looks suspiciously sleety. There was snow on the hills yesterday and there's a good bit around inland. There's about an inch in the village next to the granddaughters in south Perthshire, but it's a wee bit early to ask them if they have any 😉
I have a mystery! Yesterday when I came home laden with shopping there was mail in my letterbox - my Radio Times and a flyer from someone offering to clear my gutters. Later I thought I'd treat myself to a coffee while I tackled the puzzles in RT - but it has disappeared! I have looked everywhere, including the bins and even the fridge and oven! but there is no sign of it. I have searched again this morning - now I'm wondering if it was a figment of the imagination of an aging brain!! But the flyer from Ben's Gutters is there, grinning maliciously. Any ideas anyone? When I lost things when I was young I would be told that "the fairies must have borrowed it" - seems the only plausible explanation in this case!
Now off I must go - still puzzled - as I'm meeting a friend for coffee down in the town.

Good morning Mick and everyone from damp Carlisle where it's rained overnight and we're due another showery day...and worse to come.
No actual gardening got done yesterday , I re-potted, very gingerly, a couple of cacti. After their winter rest, the feeding and watering season is about to start. I must resist buying any more, my capacious kitchen windowsill is full and no where else is suitable.
This morning sees a trip into town to visit the dentist. Mine shouldn't be a painful experience (except in the bank balance!) as it's to have my new crown fitted. I shall also drop off more books to the charity shop.

Went back to sleep after a restless night so am all behind hand. Oldies’ coffee morning if I can get my act together in time and the rest of the day depends on whether the promised rain washes out any hope of gardening. My energy levels are worryingly low just present and like so many of us I am sorely in need of spring.

I have called off all my duties and visits today after a very poor night coughing for Scotland and an upset tummy to boot.

Yesterday went well with a birthday lunch for DGD and a pottery class in the afternoon.

Good morning from Durham. After a damp start, it’s brightening up now. The garden crew had been yesterday while I was out - looks good, considering what they’ve got to play with.
I’m awaiting a visit from Octopus - new meters, so I’m a little concerned, after Marydoll’s experiences! Sounds a local chap, so he should manage to find me.
3hrs plus at Newcastle airport would need a bank loan to exit the carpark Harri - it’s a license to print money. The drop off area is £4 just to go through the barrier!

Good morning from a damp but mild NE.
Yesterday was a quiet day, main activity was soup making.
I tidied the kitchen and hoovered downstairs and that was me tired out.
Had a message from my sister to say that she had arrived in the UK but the plane was three hours late. It was my DD and SIL I felt sorry for as they were the ones waiting at the airport for her. DD had a work meeting before leaving for the airport during rush hour. They also had a table booked for dinner, thankfully the restaurant served them even though it was very late.
DD and SIl are picking me up today and we are going out for a late lunch then we will return to mine before going to Gateshead for a concert. We are going to hear the London Philharmonic orchestra play Sibelius' Fifth symphony and Rachmaninov's second piano concerto, Bruce Lui is the pianist.

I shook off the blues yesterday, made phone calls and practised my songs.
I’m not sure if our art group is meeting this morning, so waiting to hear, but I need to shop and take an item to change, so will get moving.
I tried mouth tape to help my sleep last night. I do snore and have a suspicion I have sleep apnea. I must say I feel more refreshed, although I’m always reluctant to leave my bed, an owl rather than a lark.

Good morning everyone from yet another wet day in Northampton, there seems to be no end to it.
Had a very lazy day yesterday, all I did was hoover thoroughly upstairs, and then did the staircase; I spent the afternoon reading and managed to finish 'The Other Bennett Sister '. My next book will be a Bill Bryson that I found at a charity shop.

This morning I am out to coffee with neighbours past and present, which will be good, as this ex-neighbour has not long moved into a new bungalow, and I'm looking forward to seeing it. She and her partner have moved from the other side of town back to our village. Delicious coffee and home-made cake to come; she is famous for her baking!

Curry, as.usual, for dinner tonight. Hope today goes well for all.

Good morning from a very wet (yet again!) Black Country!

Yesterdays walk was at least dry and quite warm. One of the members had a big birthday, so cake was provided at the cafe when we finished. I took my scone with cream and jam home for MrJ

No real plans today, would normally have gone to the gym, but it is no more. May join another one which is literally less than a 10 minute walk away. Need to pop along and have a look first.

DS and family should have landed in Manchester around 2am, so I am hoping they are back home now and sleeping soundly.

Good morning from a dreary damp Suffolk,just more of the same today I fear.

We are expecting our DD,DSil and 3 teenage DGC + their border terrier later today for the weekend. Not the best weather for their drive from Bristol but,unlike DH and I,they have no worries about long drives.

We have a small summer house which I love and use whenever I get the chance. It is my peaceful quiet place which was a boon during lockdown as it provided a welcome place for me to have some time out of the house whilst still being at home.

Hoping that we soon get some of that glorious weather we enjoyed in the Spring of 2020.

Good morning from a very wet Cambridgeshire. DH has breakfast club with the boys trying out a new venue and I am shopping to stock the new fridge freezer. A quiet afternoon with TV and our books as don’t think it is day to get out on the garden unfortunately 🤷‍♀️

Good morning from soggy N Bucks . Actually much of yesterday was lovely and sunny and I got some bedding dry getting home just in time from my shopping expedition to rescue it as it was starting to rain.
My “expedition” was this trip to IKEA where D3 had her eye on a limited edition tablecloth, unavailable online and only in stock in MK. They are currently in Suffolk, so if Mum happened to need any tealights etc etc
I haven’t been to IKEA since DH died and was a bit wary of finding my way round the roundabouts of Bletchley, but trusty Google maps got me there in half an hour and it was lovely! I resisted the tealights but succumbed to a couple of pot plants, some meatballs, little jars of herrings and some cinnamon buns
The staff could not have been nicer and even helped me out with a tannoy announcement when I came back to this in the car park 😱 Not only was I boxed in but couldn’t have opened my door even if the space in front of me had been empty. Fortunately two very friendly but shamefaced lads appeared quickly to move it. No more jokes about women’s parking!
So, coffee with a friend this morning, then BT are at last coming to complete fitting my Openreach broadband ordered last May!

It has rained all night and we have a flood alert in place.

However, despite little sleep, I need to go out. The cupboards are bare, after my week of not being able to do much.

Steroids are the work of the devil, but they do the job.
I know what you mean about the moon face. Years ago, I bumped into a doctor friend of mine, who knew I was frequently on high doses of steroids. He commiserated with me on how bloated I looked and hoped my asthma settled down.
I was actually pregnant, not on steroids! Not much of a doctor.😂

DIL is easing her way back to work, so DS is popping in with Babydoll. We have battened down the hatches and cleared the conservatory. She is just the tonic I need. I have too much time on my hands lately to dwell on my difficulties.

Off to town this morning then back to knitting and sewing up a little jacket I have made.

Good morning all and it’s dark and dreary here in Essex. Downpours yesterday while I was at bowls group. Indoors . The hall is large with no windows but the noise of the rain sounded like a train going through.

We’re going to my brothers for coffee this morning and dropping off a book I’ve borrowed for him. Then off to meet our Friday friends. We haven’t seen them for a few weeks so looking forward to catching up on their news.

GG sorry to hear you’re still poorly. Steroids are sometimes a necessary evil. Hope they do the trick. 🙏.

Roseandlilac good idea having a summerhouse . We make a lot of use of ours at our seaside house. I wish we could have one here but no room I’m afraid. I’m sure you’ll love it - a little haven to call your own. 🏡.
