I thought it was very well done, and I actually watched the ‘real’ interview again, and he did come across as an arrogant and unattractive individual, but then I wondered if he could be telling the truth! Of course, the bit about the sweating was nonsense, but I suppose Epstein could have hidden things if, as Andrew claimed, he didn’t see much of him. I did find Virginia Roberts another unattractive person, and wondered if her lawyers advised her to mention Andrew, as they would know that his lawyers would probably advise him to settle, as they wouldn’t want to chance any other stuff coming out in court. To me the photo did look odd, so I suppose anything’s possible.
I had also wondered why none of the Pizza Express staff had ever come out on social media or the tabloids, but he only said he had ‘taken’ his daughter to a party there.
Of course, his insistence that his contact with Epstein was mainly because of Ghislaine Maxwell hasn’t turned out too well!

Daddima Where were Andrew's security guys? Surely they could have verified his whereabouts re Pizza Express?

I find these people boring enough in real life without watching them being acted by someone else. Back to watching paint dry!

Bit of a yawnfest, but good acting from Sewell and Anderson.
Plenty of smugness emanating from the journalists and the cute family set ups with Sam rather irritating.
I think Sewell has done PA a favour, he comes across as so stupid, I believe his innocence.

Parsley3 Sun 07-Apr-24 09:28:56

I did miss those Sewell cheekbones.

Just finished watching it. I’ve given it 8/10. It started off a little slowly but overall it was well done. The only problem for me was that P Andrew was the spit of one of my cousins!

merlotgran hmm depending on your memory… smile if you can recall the first interview then maybe not🤔

merlotgran Sat 06-Apr-24 20:53:27

I was going to watch it this evening but I’ve been out all day and I’m too tired to concentrate.

Do I need to concentrate? 😂

I watched this "trash" today and enjoyed it. I had forgotten about the laughing stock that Andrew became after it was shown.
His Royal Dryness

Well, Emily Maitlis is producing a three-part series to be shown later this year so that those of you who so clearly revel in watching this trash have even more to look forward to.

Sago agree...and also the bed laden with soft toys..urgh!

Sago Sat 06-Apr-24 11:44:41

Sparklefizz

Yes, Sago. I read today about all the prosthetics used on his face to make him resemble Andrew (and also he had a "bottom double" for the brief nude "after bath" scene at the end which frankly I thought was unnecessary and irrelevant to the story.)

I think the bath scene was to highlight how repulsive he is and how traumatising for a young girl to have been forced to sleep with a dirty old man.

Two threads I’ll see if they can be combined. I’d checked tv And as this is in chat didn’t see it

Quite disconcerting watching Rufus Sewell and finding him unattractive 😬.
All round an excellent film, Gillian Anderson was remarkable.

Bea65 Sat 06-Apr-24 10:17:16

Very enjoyable- Rufus as Prince Andrew was totally brilliant- at first I thought no.. having just watched Sewell in The Diplomat series, But, he transformed himself into PA and was very convincing with the nuances, breathing and smugness- had me thinking I was watching the real life interview.. All the ladies were super too

Oopsadaisy1 Sat 06-Apr-24 06:44:27

Watched it last night, it was very good. We didn’t watch the original either!
Amazon will soon be streaming a 3 part series on the same subject.

merlotgran Fri 05-Apr-24 22:13:32

It will be tomorrow night’s viewing for me.

Tenko Fri 05-Apr-24 22:07:08

Hmm really not interested

biglouis Fri 05-Apr-24 21:17:31

I watched the real interview so I will be interested to see this. There is a u-tube video where a body language and language expert analyses Andrew's performance. Fascinating.

RosiesMaw Fri 05-Apr-24 20:50:32

Watching it right now!

Desdemona Fri 05-Apr-24 18:12:06

I watched it this afternoon, it is very good.

Oddly, I didn't watch the REAL interview so maybe I should have done that first.

hollysteers Fri 05-Apr-24 17:48:48

I’m usually interested in anything with royal connections (my only soap opera..) but can’t get excited about an interview I have already seen?
I’ll give it a go anyway.

Sparklefizz Fri 05-Apr-24 17:45:10

I'm halfway through it and thoroughly enjoying it. I hadn't realised how much effort by the BBC went into getting this scoop although I suppose I should have. Excellent acting.

Bea65 Fri 05-Apr-24 17:29:18

This film has just landed on Netflix...shall watch as Gillian Anderson, Billie Piper, Keeley Hawes, Amanda Redman and Rufus Sewell are great actors....so should be interesting!
