It seems that I am no longer to be trusted, especially with putting in bowls which have been used to heat baked beans in the microwave.......

Well, my DH seems to have missed the memo altogether! In fact he doesn't seem to even know where it is. He just deposits items for the D/W on the worktop ABOVE said dishwasher. Drives me completely insane that he seems unable to just open the door and put the stuff inside. [He always does the bins though and appears to have has his very own recycling plant in the garage so I'll try to be grateful for that!]

My dear belated husband used to come behind me and sort the dishes out in the dishwasher it used to infuriate me

Marydoll Sun 07-Apr-24 08:26:34

I wait until DH ( dishwasher monitor) is out of the way and I reload it. He hasn't a clue!

I am the dishwasher monitor. Let all tremble but obey!

Luckygirl3

Pass the job on to someone who can do the job properly and sit and have a cup of tea! smile

Yes, please do! Let ME do it!

I don't have a dishwasher monitor (thank goodness).
But when I look after the GCs at my DSs I can empty but never load his dishwasher. Even the GCs know it has strict rules and we don't understand them!!

We both load the dishwasher - and both rearrange after the other at times. 😂

It’ll be the barbecue next!

That's very funny ixion, Mr. S. thought so too

😀

Sadly I don't have a dishwasher here. I do miss being able to stack through the day and just put the machine on at the end of the day. So now I'm constantly washing up a few bits and pieces throughout the day.
But after dinner if I cook he washes up. On the rare occasion he cooks then I wash up

I've been told off too grin MrA usually loads it now but I sometimes load it if I've done a big cook or bake and he has been known to wander in behind me to check what I'm doing. I'm quite happy to leave it to him, and the unloading, while I do other things.

Smileless2012 Sat 06-Apr-24 17:50:51

I used to be the dishwasher monitor too, then I thought it might put Mr. S. off so took my dear gran's advice and 'kept my powder dry'.

He's definitely improved though.

That's very funny ixion, Mr. S. thought so too smile.

HousePlantQueen Sat 06-Apr-24 17:47:49

It seems I am not alone grin

Rosie51 Sat 06-Apr-24 16:50:13

Mine usually loads the dishwasher. I reorganise the bits he's done wrongly if I put something in, because I know best. I don't interfere with him emptying it though grin

JamesandJon33 Sat 06-Apr-24 16:43:02

Yes, but not the same logic as mine 🤭

I cook and DH clears up - he is dishwasher monitor and very well he does it too!

Same here dragonfly, if he’s not in I’ll do it, no discussion afterwards either.

Told off, yes, often. I still load the dish washer my way. If DH wants to reload it and waste time, so be it

Same here.
Apparently there is a logic to it.🙄

Always been a smile-raiser here!

seadragon Sat 06-Apr-24 16:15:13

Left out vital sentence explaining I reorganise the contents even after I've loaded the dishes in sometimes.

seadragon Sat 06-Apr-24 16:13:32

It seems I am the dishwasher monitor as I reorganise the distribution of items in order to get more in. Certain members of my family take this as criticism..... There was a particular altercation, however, when I saw one of the said members loading 4 very large dinner plates face down in a small self catering apartment's dishwasher - which was surprisingly tiny for the 8 people staying there - 'to rinse them'....I simply had to intervene....... although I had promised myself I wouldn't this time..... Said person left in high tears. Lesson learned?

Ramblingrose22 Sat 06-Apr-24 16:10:11

Our dishwasher ordered us last night to turn off the water supply to it. We've never seen this error message before!

Just as you repair one appliance the next one breaks down.....!

TerriBull Sat 06-Apr-24 16:06:12

My husband regards himself as a dishwasher operator extraordinaire! before any piece of crockery is placed in the dishwasher, it has to be rinsed, although I'd say washed, which has led me to ask what's the purpose of the friggin' machine then! When I have the temerity to place a bowl or plate in it, which apparently I don't have the expertise to do correctly, I can never tell whether what's already there is clean or dirty, they're either reasonably clean from being rinsed washed first or very, very clean from having been through a cycle.

I just let him get on with it! What is it with men and dishwashers confused

Tizliz Sat 06-Apr-24 15:55:36

My OH rinses everything so well that I wonder why I bother with the dishwasher
