Songs that make you teary

Just been listening to the Welsh National Anthem on Utube. In Welsh, of course. Thinking of some of my ancestors from North Wales in the nineteenth century, what a wonderful anthem. Can’t beat the Welsh choirs.
What music makes you emotional?
Have to admit there are quite a few pieces for me.

Enya is guaranteed to make you well up, and I associate these two with my parents.
I dreamt I dwelt in marble halls
A day without rain

Oh yes. That always gets me too.

The Ink Spots singing Sweet Sixteen. My dh gets really teary when he hears that - we met when I was 16 and he was 17.

Calon Lan was sung at my daughter's wedding - in Norway. Her choir learnt it for the occasion. It's lovely.
Yep, I'm with those who struggle with "slipping through my fingers" by ABBA.

Quite a few songs from Les Miserable.
Slipping through my fingers ABBA
Time to say goodbye

Watching the YouTube clip of Andre Rieu and Amira Willighagen singing O Mio Babbino Caro. The audience are in tears as well.

Moonlight and Roses which was my Mum and Dad’s special song.

I’m quite a sentimental old bird so countless other songs do it for me!

Time in a Bottle - Jim Croce.

I can’t listen to The Cars, who’s going to take you home tonight, without seeing those dreadful images from Live Aid.

Wind beneath my Wings, Bette Midler.

I was watching the film Beaches on the tv a few days after my mother died and when this song came on I absolutely howled. My dear cat, very emphathetic, jumped up to comfort me.

Another one here for Myfanwy. Had it wafting through the church whilst we signed the register nearly 45 years ago.

Scorn Not His Simplicity by Luke Kelly. Also The Town I Love So Well by him. Luke has an amazing voice (in my opinion).

Children.
You've made it worse, my mum was a teacher!

I was at St David's Hall a few years ago listening to a whole group of children from various primary schools singing Calon Lan (DGD amongst them)

It was very moving.

You've made me well up too. My mum was 100% Welsh, a minister's daughter and granddaughter. I remember her saying she wanted to listen to beautiful Welsh hymns when she was dying. I hated myself for a while because I didn't do this for her, (I was young, and couldn't accept she was dying). Calon Lan. 🕊
