Sisters, Now Our Meeting Is Over by Libana. It's very simple and beautiful. We played it at my mum's funeral, which is why I can't hear it without crying, and I want it played at mine.

Danny Boy by Paul Robson. When my mum, my sister and I first heard it, we were all in tears.

Who Knows Where The Time Goes. It's very good when sung by Sandy Denny, who wrote it, but I prefer the version by Judy Collins. Such a lovely voice and such a melancholy song.

The drawback with choosing a popular song for the funeral of a loved one is the potential for being ambushed by it in a public place. My mum's coffin left church to The Kink's " Thank You for The Days".
I had to leave a shop very promptly when it came over the music system.

My party piece as a child was nobody’s child it was guaranteed to make my gran cry, but that may just have been my bad singing lol

At school we used to sing “Lord Dismiss us with thy blessing” on the last assembly before we broke up for the summer holidays. That always made me feel sad and a bit teary because, living in a rural area with friends from all over a huge catchment area it would be many weeks before I saw them again.

The song that always makes me tearful is Ken Dodd, "think of me (where ever you are)". It reminds me of my deceased parents. The words are so sincere. 😢

The third verse of ‘O Come All Ye Faithful’ which begins ‘Yea Lord we greet thee, born this happy morning’ reduces me to a weeping wreck every Christmas morning. Absolutely no idea why 🤷‍♀️
