So, so many. Music is and has always been a huge part of my life! “Spanish Eyes” or anything by Julio - my gentle mum, “Whiter shade of pale”, “Dance with my father” or “How great thou art” my darling daddy (sung at his funeral and then last week in church - cue Josie with the tears tripping her!!). A song called “Harry” - our first beloved dog, “Slipping through my fingers “ and “Never had a dream come true “ for our precious daughter. Love this thread, I’m crying reading your beautiful comments. Sorry for long post and thank you all 💝💝

The power of love by Jennifer Rush. I can remember my exes mum and dad dancing to that together out in their garden after a bbq.
The way she sang it to him, and the way they looked at each other.

You're still the one by Shania Twain. Also another exes mum and dad, cuddling and singing to each other. Later at his funeral, too.

Another vote for The Living Years by Mike & The Mechanics. "I wasn't there that morning when my father passed away' gets me every time. Also In the arms of an Angel by Sarah McLachlan.

Another one that has me collapsing in tears is Softly as I leave you by Matt Monroe. I managed to get to my sister's home in France a day or so after he died. They were playing all his favourite songs and as I walked into the room where he was lying and waiting for me it seemed Softly as I leave you was playing. It was just beautiful and heart breaking at the same time. Ten years have passed and still the tears come.

The Dance by Garth Brooks is one that can always reduce me to tears. Such beautiful sentiments.

Run was played at my daughter's funeral, also the Leona version.

Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkel. Also Run (the Leona Lewis version).

Going Home- Sissel. We had that played at the end of our mum and brothers funeral.
Go now- The Moody Blues. 1963 I think? Our dear Scamp the cat had been found run over and killed. I remember walking into our living room and this song was playing on Top of Pops on t.v. I always think of him if ever I hear this.
Nessun Dorma reminds me of my dad, he died of a heart attack on his way home from coming up to visit me. It was the 1990 World Cup in Italy and this song kept playing.

Oh! No idea what has happened to my post!

Nimrod brings me to tears - the calm of those final bars. Evidently it has been voted the classic most likely to make people cry.

You’ll never walk alone by Gerry and the Pacemakers. My husband was a Liverpool supporter and I had it played at his funeral. I sob every time I hear it played. Also Slipping Through My Fingers by Abba. So poignant when your
child has grown and out in the big world. I also love Softly as I Leave you by Matt Munroe. I’m blubbing now.

Both played at a dear friends funeral recently, so, yes...tears.

My Dad was a church minister so it would be certain hymns that set me off. In particular 'Thine be the glory'- Dad died just before Easter and it was his favourite hymn. We sang it at his funeral and Mum also chose it for hers. Decades on I still can't sing it without tearing up and struggle to sing to the end.
