Good Morning Friday 12th April 2024

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° and it's been raining. GrandMattie how sad for you. Susan there comes a point when you have to just go for a new car. Grannygravy all the best for your son today.
Yesterday I cleaned the windows but I have made a terrible job of it. Even with cataracts I can see the smears. I will have to invest in a Karcher thing and see if that helps. Or just not clean them. Later I got my front garden tidied up. I had a chat with my next door neighbour who told me they had celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary last week. They are a lovely couple. I didn't hear from dd but I left them in peace. I have memories of my gran descending on us when we had just returned from holiday and not leaving for ages, driving my mum mad.
Today I'm heading to Tesco to get some food and flowers for next door. They have a better selection than Aldi. I'll do the housework and washing because I'm out all day tomorrow. I fancy baked salmon with salad for dinner. Have a good day all.

Yesterday was lovely . I met up with Liberty for a coffee and chat. The time flew by and I really enjoyed our time together. A warm, sunny day so we were able to sit out. Hopefully we’ll see each other again soon 🤞.

Today we’ll shop and prepare beds for our two sons arriving this evening. I think the weather will be on our side for outdoor jobs.🤞.

Good morning from the NE where we have had overnight rain.
Had a lazy day yesterday with a very easy dinner of pizza and salad.
I watched another couple of episodes of Clocking off, surprised at how many actors I recognise.
During the evening GD1 sent me a message with photos, she had driven her boyfriend to a reservoir in the countryside and they had gone for a walk. Her parents and sister had gone off for the day on the train. There is quite a bit of role reversal now, GD drops her mum off at work so that she can have the car, carrying large art folders is not easy on public transport.
Admin work to do today and some light housework.

Good morning from another wet day, Alexa was wrong yesterday as well, why am I surprised?

Glammagran many tractors past our house with hay for the animals, it’s costing the farmers a fortune, we visited a. Farm recently and all of their animals (apart from some rams) are all still indoors, having their lambs inside. Ironically they all grow hay and it’s shipped off to Wales, I wonder if they are buying it back!

I tried to prop up all the double headed tulips I have in pots as the weight of water has caused them to flop over. My camellia which was a gift in the Autumn has lost all its flowers for the same reason. The grass is still a squelchy mess. Farmers are having a terrible time with fields to wet to sow crops, losing those which had started growing and many lambs unable to survive.

Wishing everyone some warmth and sun today though I won’t hold my breath.

Good morning from a glorious morning on the South Downs.

Just beginning to come up for air after the sudden lose of our dearest little dog on Monday. It was a shock, as Monday morning up until mid-afternoon he was absolutely fine, then he suffered continuous seizures out of the blue until the vet diagnosed a brain tumour and nothing could be done.

People have been incredibly kind, including this little GN community, and their support has certainly uplifted me.

Today we plan to go walking at Knepp to greet the storks who will be clacking away in their nests. We will take a flask and sandwiches and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature. That heals like nothing else.

But first we must install the little waterfall pump and pop into the garden centre and get a couple of water plants including some oxygenators. I was amazed to see a frog in the little pond yesterday! How on earth did he find it so soon? We only opened it up a couple of weeks ago - as we had it covered because Duncan spent all his time up to his elbows in the water trying to catch frogs etc., and now he was older we thought that he would be more sensible!

gg13 hope you hear from your son soon. Our best friend had a mastectomy a few years ago, and all is now well, but quite a shock at the time as nothing was really said about male breast cancer back then, but now it seems more widely known.

I must stop yabbering!!

Good morning all from a wet and wild Glasgow.

Sad news for you GM. and unsettling.

My old boss has died, she'll fell and broke her hip, but couldn't be operated on. She was of the old school, a very tall and imposing lady, with an extremely loud voice. Although scary, she protected us from our crazy HT.

A few weeks ago, I got an email from a parishioner, asking for a priest to visit his MIL's neighbour, who ust happened to be my boss. When the PP visited, she gave him her phone number for me to call her for a chat. I first net her, when I was a post graduate student in the school and was terrified of her!

Yesterday, I bumped into a lady, whom I know from church. It turned out she was that same neighbour. I had no idea that she was the MIL of my acquaintance!.
I had actually been commenting to DH after the funeral on Monday, that everyone in our town, including you, Borrheid, but apart from me, seem to be related to each other.
I have to be very careful what I say, I am an interloper, even after forty years! 🤣

Yesterday flew by, but with nothing to show for it. I really need to do some housework.
Babydoll 😍 is one today and there will be a family party at her home. DIL has four sisters, so it will be busy with all the partners and children.
I gave been tasked with making Mars Bar cake for it.

Susan good luck with the car hunting. The waiting lists are very long. DD's new car is on a boat somewhere! She was raging yesterday, when she had to replace her car, when delivery of her new one is only weeks away.

Good morning, hopefully a dry and sunny morning ahead here in south Glos 🤞🏻
We spent an hour or so emptying the greenhouse yesterday, so much stuff! I will have a good weed out before anything goes into my new shed /summerhouse, when they arrive. At the moment it’s all heaped up under a tarp on the patio. I won’t need anything near as much for the little seed sowing I will be doing so my neighbour will benefit!
Dd arrived yesterday evening, she’s already at work in my craft room 😵‍💫. Dog has her walker this morning, DH will take out DD’s dog I expect.
I don’t plan to do much other than sorting out the greenhouse contents!

I got all the washing dry yesterday, so gardening calls. We only have a small garden so it'll be mostly sitting in the sun with a cuppa.
We need to pop to Aldi as DS is home tonight for the weekend.

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s dull but dry.
The builders are due to be back at 8 to carry on with the wood replacement around the front door. It going ok so far but I don’t think I had expected it to take as long as it is going to be. No matter. I just want it right. They’ll be back to paint at the weekend then the lead man is coming on Monday. Fingers crossed for the weather to stay dry.
I’m off shopping then some gardening. I did manage to do some yesterday but there is a lot of ground elder to tackle.

Thank you all for your shared joy in my eye health news. The warmth that comes through feels like another family. Last night we were with my theatre family where I was a steward for Confusions by Ayckbourn whilst DH was an audience member. A huge success and I was heartened to talk to a regular patron who hadn’t realised that the majority of our players are amateur.

A weekend with my DD and family in Crewe is planned so I must get ready. We’ll be changing trains at New St., NannyJan53.

Our trees are looking similar, Mizuna: a beautiful shade of green!

DS4 is having his surgery this morning (partial mastectomy, following on from a lumpectomy a few years ago) I will be unable to settle until I hear from him.

DD will be dropping The Imp off first thing on her way to work, he will keep me on my toes.

Good morning from a bright-skyed (if that's a word) Cornwall where I can see two huge wood pigeons canoodling on the thinnest branch of one of the trees lining the road. The town centre trees are just in leaf now, that fresh apple green, and it's a pretty sight. The council have done some pollarding, which I like as it reminds me poignantly of France, but not outside my flat, so a sky full of greenery will be my pleasant view throughout the summer.

Today I'm lunching with my 14-year-old grandson and his mum at a South African restaurant. My daughter-in-law was given a voucher for it for Christmas and is treating us. I might wear something that flops 😁 to mark the nice occasion.

Good morning from Malta where - no prizes for guessing- we have another bright day with a high of 21°C expected.

I’ve just arrived to watch the boys and both are asleep having been awake during the night. I don’t know how poor DD3 copes with a class of 22 three to four year olds after a broken night.

I took the boys out yesterday as it was such a lovely day. They cause quite a stir with many people stopping to exclaim over them! We also went to the swings. They are getting more confident now and go down the slide on their own. One of them tends to wander off though so I need my wits about me.

Good morning all from what’s to be, another sunny day here on the east coast of Scotland.

I had the most wonderful day yesterday , the sun shone all day and it travelled to the rear of my house in the afternoon. I sat in my conservatory looking out into the garden for the first time in a couple of years, the flowers are beginning to awaken and I’m needing my grass cut.

It’s getting cut today by my dearest friend while I’m off to play bingo with my carer fingers crossed

We had a lovely afternoon with my cousin and her family yesterday.Disaster struck when it was time to go home as the car wouldn’t start.Luckily our son in law arrived home from work and has temporarily sorted the problem.The car has had several issues and we said one more and it has to go🤦🏼‍♀️Today will be spent looking at cars.I have had a sleepless night worrying as we have a week full of appointments ahead and no idea what we are going to do.Rubbish public transport here.One of the clinics is 60 miles away and to get there on public transport would take a days travelling🤦🏼‍♀️

Anyway enough of my rambling!

I hope all unwell are continuing to recover.

My thoughts have been with Kalu and Urms.
