Am I alone in finding the woman in the new ads totally annoying?

Elegran Mon 15-Apr-24 16:35:51

The model is cavorting about in the ad las though she is 6 years ols (if that) The expression on the face of one of the women in the lift says it all.

There is a feedback button on the same page as the advertiseent (the OP has given the page link a couple of posts after the start) I suggest that you feedback that you hate the ad!

cc Mon 15-Apr-24 16:25:24

Yes, I find her extremely irritating too, I think it's the worst M&S ad they've ever made, it really sets my teeth on edge.

Mojack26 Mon 15-Apr-24 15:39:36

Hate the ad...have to mute

Barbadosbelle Mon 15-Apr-24 14:58:10

.

I don't know about the model being annoying (she's only 'obeying orders' after all) but clicking on the link I found the advertisement to be incredibly boring.

Bring back the marketing team behind the Twiggy ads, says I! They were brilliant and showed the clothes to perfection.

Marydoll Mon 15-Apr-24 14:49:16

ankle even!

Marydoll Mon 15-Apr-24 14:48:06

I am 5ft. and have just bought these, they are angle grazers. Short was too long! 🤣

BeneathTheHowlingStars Mon 15-Apr-24 14:47:57

I call it 'the advert with the woman and her wobbly eyes' as she doesn't seem to be able to look in one direction for more than a split second.

Trottoir Mon 15-Apr-24 14:39:45

I think she has a lovely face and looks great in that lime green get up

jenpax Mon 15-Apr-24 14:29:40

Namsnanny

But realistically they can't target the over 45's as their major customer, if they want to stay afloat. We die off.

A younger customer may buy from them for 40 years or more.

I actually like some of the clothes in the advert. Especially the waistcoat suit. I couldn't possibly fit in it though

A 45 year old could easily have another 40 years of shopping 😂

DevonshireSalop Mon 15-Apr-24 13:50:24

Could it be that M&S are trying to attract a wider audience ?
You can’t please all of the people all of the time !
ufix1, sorry to hear about your Polymyalgia Rheumatica, hope the steroids are helping though. Been there and done that when I was 52, wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Pippa22 Mon 15-Apr-24 13:26:05

I miss the days when there were assistants around in Marks and helped you if you asked them. You could identify them by their uniform. Now in my local, large M and S the staff are always hurrying across the shop floor playing a game I think. It must be called don’t get stuck with a shopper, certainly no eye contact and certainly don’t speak.
I dislike the ad on television but I expect the women are famous people I don’t know but get paid shedloads to be in the ad.

Kittycat Mon 15-Apr-24 13:08:17

I think if she behaved like that in our M and S security would ask her to leave!

Shantygirly Mon 15-Apr-24 12:59:07

The advert is stupid, like most of them, very irritating.

I used to buy a few bits from M & S, now I only go in there for food. I am 5'2", size 12 and saw a nice dress in there the other day, I tried it up against myself (for a laugh) and there was at least 4" of it dragging on the floor!

They used to make some items in 'petite' fittings but they seem to have stopped that now. I know younger women are taller but there are still plenty of us shorties around!

I have been trying to buy cropped leggings too, I like my tunics but the best place for cropped leggings in nice colours now seems to be my favourite shop, Seasalt.

Do you think it is a bit of a joke that advert ?I was thinking it must be tongue in cheek, prancing around like that. Definitely trying to change the boring middle aged look!

Yes, I think so.

The problem is, they are still ignoring their core customer and trying to attract youngsters who wouldn't go in there if it was the last shop standing!

spabbygirl Mon 15-Apr-24 12:51:52

I thought it was awful too, why can't they feature more women of our age? Twiggy was one, but there are plenty more

albertina Mon 15-Apr-24 12:30:49

M and S would do better spending money on better designers for the ladies clothes.

NannaBarbra Mon 15-Apr-24 12:25:03

It looks like the advert worked, its got us all thinking and talking about M&S 😀

Namsnanny Mon 15-Apr-24 11:25:12

Yes nanna8 I agree, their trying to zhuzh up the ad to attract youngsters.

So I'm not imagining the change. I must look for the extra short Callistemon thanks.

Delia22 Sun 14-Apr-24 12:07:32

The advert just seems ridiculous! Are they really trying to appeal to normal cutomers? If I wasn,t already an M+S customer this wouldn't entice me into their store! I might 'bump' into the mad woman!!😂😂

Marydoll Sun 14-Apr-24 12:02:37

I have had to take up my recently bout short ones! 😠

Callistemon21 Sun 14-Apr-24 11:41:27

nadateturbe

Their short trousers are longer than they used to be, no good for 5'1''. And their trousers are much too baggy. Straight trousers and jeggings never allow for fatter calves. Bon Marche do better lengths but their styles are very limited. Only trousers I find that fit well and look nice are Robell which I buy but costly.

I used to buy regular, now I find they are far too long and short is the right length.
I'm 5'4"

It's not just because I've shrunk slightly because my old regular length M&S trousers still fit.

Some styles come in extra short, nadateturbe.
