Good morning Mick and everyone. It’s a cold bright morning here in Lancashire. After a few fraught weeks MrB and I have had a wonderful long weekend in Galloway, fresh air, sea views, fabulous food and even some unexpected sunshine. We arrived home yesterday afternoon.

The boiler is still not working as a part had to be ordered so it couldn’t be sorted before we went away. An engineer from Baxi is on his way so hopefully we will have warmth and hot water this afternoon.

Have a good day all, whatever you’re doing, I’m so behind with everybody’s news..

Grannygravy I just got a photo of our youngest off on her last primary school trip ! Big big school for her in September 😟

aggie Tue 16-Apr-24 10:08:27

Good Morning from a bright breezy Co Armagh , we were lucky yesterday to miss the showers , we had a lovely walk through the Lady Dixon park . I did get my feet wet as the paths varied from deep to shallow puddles !
Got home through heavy hail and sleet showers , saddened to get news of the death of an old friend that morning , her funeral is tomorrow
Nothing planned for today , I hope to divide a rather crowded house plant and try make space in the greenhouse
Hoping we all have as good a day as possible

We have two very happy GSs they have both got their first choice Primary Schools and will be joining their siblings in September.

I am so excited for them, but it’s tinged with sadness as they are the youngest and we have been told that they are the last of our brood of GC…

Grandmachrisy47 Tue 16-Apr-24 09:44:00

Good morning from a bright, breezy and chilly Co Durham.
Back to the walk to school with dgd this morning. It’s the first time I’ve seen her for two weeks. Lovely hugs exchanged.
Enjoy your holidays Oops and BlueSapphire
DH and I went for an early dinner in a local pub, it cerbeats cooking.
Dear sister in law and I are looking at having a few days away near Perth, to visit her sister. Hopefully it will brighten me up having something to look forward to.
Spent two hours talking to my mobile phone supplier, the upshot being I have a new phone being delivered today!! I’m impressed 😀. No doubt it’ll take me hours to set up. DD2 said it’s easy, we’ll see.
Hope those with medical appointments have satisfactory outcomes. Glad your feeling brighter Taichinan.
Hoping you all have a good day.

Good morning from a sunny, but chilly Durham. I feel at a bit of a loose end this morning - had a dreadful headache last night - although the steam mop is already plugged in and ready to go! Not my favourite job.
I’ll see how I go, but might pop out later as I have an ISA query with the bank - local branches have closed, so it’ll be the big city (Newcastle) if I do.
Best wishes to all. X

harrigran Tue 16-Apr-24 09:18:24

Good morning from the NE where we are having squally showers.
Yesterday we had really heavy showers especially at school run time, thankfully I did not have to go out.
Did my laundry and the ironing and then watched a couple more episodes of Clocking off.
Have a good day.

Grammaretto Tue 16-Apr-24 09:06:28

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Sun is up and the roofer is coming to try once more to find the cause of the leak.

While I wait I'm continuing to go through boxes in the attic with my helper who has to leave tomorrow.
She is doing all the heavy lifting. Tonight we are off to the theatre to reward ourselves.

We enjoyed Cornwall from the top of the bus 5 years ago Mizuna . We stayed in the Egyptian House in Penzance (Landmark Trust) one of our last holidays together.

Enjoy the day everyone.

hollysteers Tue 16-Apr-24 09:06:08

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast after a cold, wet and windy day yesterday.
My Dsister is in Rhodes with her good friend so I hope she is enjoying that. You have given me an idea for a little breakMizuna and good travels Bluesapphire.

Music club today and I’m on the desk. Must have a little warm up, decide which songs to sing and get rid of the frogs.
Thoughts to all with worries 🌺

EkwaNimitee Tue 16-Apr-24 08:49:30

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle where we are forecast a day of April showers again. It's chilly overnight again and the upstairs heating, set low, has come on this morning.
Today, more housework this morning and admin, mostly, in the afternoon. That includes researching an autumn holiday, very possibly somewhere where sun is guaranteed! I do miss my winters spent in Spain.

Have a good day everyone and I hope the holidaymakers find that sun.

Taichinan Tue 16-Apr-24 08:37:42

Good morning Mick and all from the Angus coast where it's a typical April day I suppose. Interesting how many of you reported hail showers yesterday, even in the 'deep south' - we had a really heavy one late afternoon.
Thank you for all your kind remarks yesterday - I'm just not as resilient as I used to be and my tai chi classes were abysmal to the extent that I was beginning to think I should give up. That time will come, but I hope not just yet. We'll see how this morning's class goes!
Bluesapphire what excitement! Enjoy your last day of preparation and then enjoy that cruise.
Enjoy your trip away too Oops and I hope the weather in Cornwall does it's best for you.
That was an 'interesting' journey home Ash.
I hope you find another gym soon Brook.
Everyone else, enjoy your day whatever it brings - and let's hope we get an abatement of that awful wind so that we can feel the warmth of the sun. Wouldn't that be luverly!

Mizuna Tue 16-Apr-24 08:25:24

Sorry, wasn't meaning to cast dampers on your visit to Cornwall Oops. I'm in the far west so the weather can vary all over the county. Hopefully you'll find some sun!

Oopsadaisy1 Tue 16-Apr-24 08:18:42

Jax we don’t need a weather report! As soon as MrOops sets foot in Cornwall it rains.

Every time.

NannyJan53 Tue 16-Apr-24 08:12:32

Good morning from a blustery Black Country. Typical April weather, sunny one minute raining the next.

Shingles jab this morning. I had one 6 months ago and this is the follow up. Never had so many in the last couple of years, Covid, Flu, Shingles!

Will walk into town on the way back to buy a few things.

Wishing you all a good day.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 16-Apr-24 08:09:33

Good morning from a bright South Downs.

Yesterday we went to the cinema and saw “Wicked little Letters” - the acting was superb. Based on a true story which made national headlines and “questions in the house”. There was a lot of startling language, which was the point of it really - so not a film for those of a delicate frame of mind. Olivia Coleman and Timothy Spall star, but are supported by a brilliant cast.

Today I am taking my sister for a cataract operation. Apart from that - rain allowing I will rake the little Japanese zen garden - I enjoy doing that, and then prune a Christmas box which is growing over and hiding my Puck cherub.
Duncan has his stony place down in the garden surrounded by primroses. Oh, how I miss him! 1 week. Keeping busy is the trick.
oops give Cornwall my love and enjoy your break.

Everyone else have a magnificent day.

Peace and harmony to all.

Jaxjacky Tue 16-Apr-24 08:08:29

Morning from sunny S Hants Oops ignore the weather report from Mizuna!
En-suite was stripped out yesterday, noisy and dusty, work continues today, plasterer tomorrow.
Quiz last night was packed, we didn’t do well 🙁.
Happy holidays and safe travels today.

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. A friend is coming here this morning for coffee and a chat and then this afternoon I have the hairdresser which is much needed. I am going to get her to take quite a lot off the length I just can’t manage it however much everyone likes it longer.
Glad you enjoyed your short break Mizuna sounds fun.
Greyduster it’s always the last few hundred yards isn’t it!
Best wishes to all

GrannySomerset Tue 16-Apr-24 07:58:14

Supermarket shop this morning and WI this evening so a busy enough day. Feels chilly despite being fine so I expect the wind is the reason and I will need a warm jacket when I go out. Spring has not yet fully sprung, I fear.

Liberty Tue 16-Apr-24 07:57:17

Good morning from a dull but calm Suffolk after challenging weather yesterday, sunshine alternating with torrential rain and howling winds.

After a lovely day and a delicious lunch at the superb fish restaurant we arrived at the station in Ipswich to find that the train which R and I were planning to get was cancelled because of a fallen tree on the line. Trains running to Colchester were ok so M,whose birthday celebration it was, could travel as planned.

A single decker replacement bus arrived but could only take a fraction of the passengers waiting. After all,it was just after 5pm and the train is busy with commuters. Luckily we were near the front of the queue and got on and a seat. We just hoped those waiting got another bus soon.

Today I have papers to read for a morning’s meeting tomorrow so that will keep me busy.

Hope those suffering from extreme weather have a better day than yesterday.

Susan56 Tue 16-Apr-24 07:41:22

Good morning from Shropshire.Sunshine and blustery at the moment.

A mainly relaxing day yesterday. An upset with a friend who wanted me to go somewhere I don’t want to go🤷‍♀️I would probably have just gone a couple of years ago but like to use my energy for things I want to do these days.DH said he had never realised how bossy she is, nor had I!

A busy day today.DH has an opticians appointment then lunch with DD.We will then collect the children from school and DH will look after them while I go to Welsh class with DD.Sainsburys on the way home.

I hope all appointments go well and building issues are resolved GG and Grammaretto.

Thinking of all our absent good morning friends.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Gingster Tue 16-Apr-24 07:41:07

Good morning all and it’s bright but chilly here in Essex.
The journey back from Suffolk was a little ‘hairy’ with strong winds and squalls of rain and hail, but we got here safe and sound 🙏.

Hopefully see DD sometime this morning and see how things are with her.
Bridge this afternoon and if I’ve got any brain cells left I’ll go again this evening. I do enjoy it and sadly missed it last week while away.

GG how frustrating for you! I hope things are improving for you by next week when we meet up.

Well done Bellasnanna . You do indeed deserve this weeks bravery medal. 🎖️.

Oops and Bluesapphire wishing you happy holidays . 🌊 🛳️ .

Mizuna what a lovely time you had. I envy your spirit of adventure and admire your ‘get up and just do it’. 🤩.

Love and best wishes to all poorlies, worried or just fed up. 🌷

monk08 Tue 16-Apr-24 07:36:40

Good morning all from a dull Black country.
Hygienist first thing then opticians appointment, will drop into the bank while in town save trip later in the week.
Glad you enjoyed your little holiday Mizuna I think a change of scenery can do a lot of good.
Safe travels Oops and anybody else on the move.
Have a great day and may you all find some ☀️

Greyduster Tue 16-Apr-24 07:22:43

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The sun is trying hard this morning but at least it’s dry and the wind has dropped a little. It was howling yesterday. I had to pick some fence paint up from somewhere I am a complete stranger to, so, for the first time, I set the sat nav! It talked me eventually onto an industrial estate and then said “You have reached your destination”, which appeared to be a scrapyard! I had to go in and ask directions. I was nowhere near🤦‍♀️! Well, it was an adventure.
GP appointment this morning and then back at school for a volunteer session.
Have the best day you can, folks.

brook2704 Tue 16-Apr-24 07:20:24

Good morning everyone from Inverness, its cloudy but dry at the moment, yesterday was sunshine and showers all day long
Safe travels Oops and everyone everyone else on the move today
Nothing much planned for today, I missing going to the Gym since it closed but I haven’t really got into another routine just yet
Hope all goes okay at the eye clinic corner
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Marydoll Tue 16-Apr-24 07:17:39

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where its 6°C

Hoping you begin to feel better, Taichinan and belated birthday greetings to Gala.
GG, I hope the building work sproblem is resolved.

I need to get moving, school run again and Dollie will be looking for her pancakes for breakfast. She seems to think Chez MDoll is a 5* hotel. 😂

A gentle day for me, I need to be well enough to attend the GlescaGrannies meet up tomorrow. I am looking forward to it so much.

Good luck with any appointments.
