Mindset change

can't say i was ever much for finding the time to do anything i was not paid to do.

Yes! When I was childminding full-time there was a lot of paperwork I had to keep on top of for Ofsted and I would regularly be doing it late into the evening 😴
Now I no longer have the early years children I don't have the same pressures, and can do what needs to be done at a time to suit me.

Well there is someone after my own heart! Its called quiet quitting and involves working strictly to your job description and not doing all the little extras.

Many years ago I was foolish to allow myself to be drawn into being a virtual PA for an elderly neighbour. I ended up doing her shopping, phone calls, life admin etc although I was a non driver and had mobility issues myself.

Now I make sure I get paid for my time from anyone who is not a close friend. I find that an effective way to avoid being guilted into doing things for others (who are never going to reciprocate) is to ask "shall I give you a price?" which usually has them running for the hills.

Like the new neighbout who wanted to park one of her several vehicles on my drive because "I dont have a car". She disappeared pretty quickly when I told her it was not going to be a cheap option.

My attitude used to be, rather do it now than save it for tomorrow. That has changed to ‘if I can’t (rather not) do it now,
then I’ll do it tomorrow.’

I still work full time, often unsociable hours, and I must admit I've become very lazy when I'm home. I was never obsessive to be honest but now I'm definitely the opposite.

I booked a ticket through Trainline yesterday and during the transaction there was a link to click if I also wanted to book parking.
It took me to the private drive on several different houses near the station that I could book to park on for the day.

I make a list for the next day, but if I don’t manage to complete all my target tasks, there is always another day,

As my lovely mum used to say,

“There’s more to life than dust”

So true.

When I was working everything had to be crammed into weekends. Now I do what I want when I want to. No pressure. Wonderful!

I have a lot of time to fill, but never seem to achieve much.

The word "manyana" is my favourite these days!
