RNIB talking books

Have you thought about using your local library service? I don't know if you can see enough to click on and select "play" for example but once on your phone or ipad/laptop there are 1000s free through the library.

I mainly use the BorrowBox service this way.
I've taken some screenshot of the last books I've listened to this way.

If someone could help you set it up (sorry, I don't know your exact situation) it would be worth having a go to see if it was a possible solution.

My Dad, who was blind, had one of these machines. I don’t remember the details I’m afraid as he died 24 years ago and I expect they have changed by now. It was about the size of the old tape recorders. It was supplied by the local charity which supplied the talking books and his Braille books. It wouldn’t have been complicated to use or he and Mum wouldn’t have managed.

Thank you everyone. I do use Borrowbox but the demand for talking books increased substantially during Covid and it is a race to the post to download one!

I shall investigate RNIB offer further.
