Cocker Spaniel Worries

I have gorgeous 12 year old boy cocker. Just recently he seems to be staring into space a lot and doesn't respond. Has anyone else experienced this. I know the average lifespan is around 12 to 14 years, so I'm wondering if this is the start of a decline.

A vet will tell you but is he going deaf or blind?.

Could be "old dog disease," i.e. canine dementia?
Our last dog developed that. He'd go under the dining table and get stuck in the chair legs, couldn't work out how to get out again ☹️

Could your dog have adult onset neuropathy ?
A vet would confirm it .
I've had many Cockers ( field and English ) and none of them have lived as long as your boy .
Having a dog , loving and losing it is so painful .
I really hope that you get a favourable diagnosis and treatment .

I had a Sheltie many years ago and she would stand and stare if I let her out she just walked round and rojj in nd the house then came back in perfectly happy

Test I think that was old dog disease

Thank you everyone. He's booked in at the vets! He maybe 12, but he's still like an energetic puppy in many ways. Not ready to let him go yet!!
